IF I'M CORRECT THIS MEANS I CAN ORDER A DREAM CHOICE FROM AMERICA WITHOUT HAVING TO GO TO JAPAN? I hope this is true. THAMKS! Rumi Posted August 2, 2020 I believe from what ive read, a proxy is a person who can physically go to the store and order a dream choice with the options youve requested and send it to wherever you live. Customs? usually depending on where you live you would have to pay an import fee for items you import from other countries which is in this case Japan. (lets say you live in the EU as an example, if i want to buy something from Japan which is outside of EU, then id have to pay (in sweden) 25% of the price of the item on top of it.) I think USA DOES have customs but ive also seen that they dont need to pay it? im not too sure how it works over there Just be ready to pay an import fee if the sender puts the price on the papers. Tierparkzone Posted August 2, 2020 I hate to spoil your enthusiasm, but due to the pandemic shipping options from Japan to the US have dwindled, becoming either very slow (meaning the package is stuck at the airport for an indefinite time) or very expensive. Corgi Posted August 2, 2020 US doesn't have any customs (at the moment) for toys and dolls. You just have to make sure whoever ship it marks it correctly in the custom form as "doll". For the other items/non-toy related if I remember correctly it's $800 or less but I could be wrong about that part. For sure up to $200 mark you won't pay custom fee. Once EMS is back I think a proxy is a great way to order without needing to go to Japan. Depending on the proxy, they generally charge 10-20% of the value of the item. Guest Posted August 2, 2020 I thought about using Niya's Proxy Service. On their Facebook page. One post told people the prices of the DCS Dolls. A DD and DDS were $770 (just for reference.) I did do some looking and the Price was $564 for a DD/DDS on the official Doll Point website. Did they add the shipping for the doll in there or something? NOOOOOOOOOO EMS is not DHL, EMS is always gonna be around the 50-60 range for your dolls to ship while DHL is a courier service which is way faster. DHL costs alot for private people trying to send stuff out but if a big company like lets say Mandarake uses DHL then they get a discount and it ends up more like 100 dollars or less i believe. So yeah 400 for shipping when a private person does it will be alot especially for your dream choice but if youd use DHL from a company its way less due to discounts The reason that proxy ONLY has DHL for your area is because some places do not take EMS shipping yet. Akemi3167 Posted August 2, 2020 I recently went through Japan Doll Direct for my DC; since I'm doing a layaway, JDD informed me EMS may be back up and running by the time I'm finished with my plan but if not, they plan to go through another courier service called Yamato which would be around $80.
