Current Problems, Accidents, & Annoyances!

Sometimes unfortunate things happen in hobbies, totally out of our control, and I thought: why not have a thread to air these grievances?  A bit like a rant thread, I guess!  Where we can all commiserate together, and maybe provide some helpful tips or solutions to some problems, even!  cue "we're all in this together" soundbyte

 

So voice your problems, recent issues, unfortunate accidents, and minor annoyances, big and small!

 

 

I'll start off with my most recent inconvenient development: I decided I'm going to (try to) purchase one of the DD Chair Stands when they go up for sale at the end of the month, and I was going to buy the Metal Saddle Stand with it, since I don't have one yet. Well, it went out of stock earlier today, and I've just been silently lamenting over it to myself ever since, as I can't imagine it'll come back in stock in time for the chair sale. o|< I keep thinking that I should have just purchased the Saddle Stand by itself, but I wanted to order them together! 😭

Current rant of the week: USPS. I won the nurse uniform and purchased a few other things. My package was shipped priority on the 3rd of August and last updated the 7th. I'm in the US, so it's not like it had to go far. I know it isn't Volks fault, but my gosh mail right now is freaking insane. I've sold stuff to people and mailed it and they've all received their items while I'm still waiting on my Volks package. Thank God that it is me having an issue and not one of my buyer's having the problem. But GRRRR!

But later, I started to keep my dolls at home. It is better for them, and I dont have to have such responsibility for them. Also I found it unfair to doll to go somewhere with her and had to have her in ukulele bag most of the time. Ukulele bag is not bad, but you have to lie you play on ukulele etc. Also people in my country are very conservative so I do not want to provoke them.

hOOO this is like, rant of the SUMMER, isn't it?  I had a package do the same thing last month, only it didn't arrive until another two weeks had passed.  Skipped all the scans along the way and just showed up as 'out for delivery' with no warning.  Praying yours does the same really soon, too!

I'm in the same boat honestly except I've got two packages in limbo as of right now. Fingers crossed at least one of them arrives today but it's worrying me. One is an order from volks, the other is a painted custom head. Neither of the shipping delays are the sellers fault of course, both sellers are excellent, but I can't help a little impatience. ( ; ω ; )

Other than that I've only had one issue with my dollfie dream so far. The right shoulder was becoming a little droopy. I was worried I had broke something but it turned out I just needed to tighten that screw a turn. It's really nice that the frame lets you modify tension like that. Maybe one day I'll keep a dollfie dream super loose and floppy for fun. I like having the options.

Edit: Actually, I realized it's three packages. Something from Japan has been stuck there for weeks.

The Japan package is probably just still waiting for a flight out, but for any of your USPS packages, if it goes past their 'estimated arrival' date, try putting in a Help Request (not a Lost Item claim) for them.  That was what helped mine show up finally, I think, as I had put the request in a few days prior!

After seeing your post I did try that on one of them, but the response was essentially 'keep waiting.' I appreciate it though. I'll give it another week and then maybe try again if it doesn't show up.

My post master did the same thing!  But then it just showed up with no warning, so hopefully the same happens to you.  I think after another week or 10 days, you can put in a Lost Item claim then.  Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but the one time I had to file a claim (pre-pandemic), the package ended up showing up shortly after as well.

Also got the same cookie cutter response from USPS. Hopefully we all get our mail soon. I can handle waiting longer; that isn't the issue. My biggest beef is paying a higher price for priority shipping and then have it ship as slow as ground or media mail. Honestly, I think media mail would get here faster.

Priority mail is even slow right now, not much different than ground at the moment.

I ordered some thing from Volks and it did indeed take a week and a half to arrive to me, usually it's within 3 days since I live an hour away from where they are located.

The mail is just so backed up right now it's nearly unbelievable.

Not to get political, but I don't expect anything to be done about the backup of mail caused by the cost cutting new guy until after the election, so that less mail in ballots will end up being counted.

Speaking of mail... I ordered some parts for my girls back in March? or May? (I don't remember). At the time, the seller only had the option to do sea mail (since a lot of flights were canceled... Sea mail doesn't really have tracking... So I'm stuck waiting in limbo as well. The wait time for sea mail is anywhere from a month to 6 months... and now the combination of what's happening with USPS... It might take a year to get my package :<

Yikes!  Definitely hoping it turns up sooner rather than later for you!  🙏

@Syko that’s awful! I hope it gets to you soon.
 

I recently had a Taobao order take exactly 1 month to get to me... and it wasn’t cheap shipping, it was $40 EMS 😤. I really hope if I win DDS Sailor Venus that they can ship her with DHL because the postal service is just not something I want to deal with right now.

Not sure if you get the option with lottery wins (never done one) but I actually asked Volks in the comments box on the order if they could ship DHL if possible and they did

I had made an order a few weeks before that was sent EMS that took an age which is what prompted me to ask. So it's always worth asking cause you never know!

Oh yes I needed a thread like this to vent, especially with my frustrations with... DHL.

First: I have an account with them, so I always get email notifications when something is on the way to me and when it's out for delivery. 70% of the time I get an email about a delivery, I immediately check my tracking status to see that they didn't attempt to deliver my package at all and called it off for the next delivery cycle... The false alarms are getting really annoying.

Second: I always have to reroute my packages to my address. I know that sounds weird, but to give context on what's going on, the shipping labels addressed to me either come out glitched or formatted improperly. It looks like this:

My Name
Street Name, City, Zip Code, State
State
City
Zip Code
City

 

And, I don't even know, the system doesn't get it? If I don't rewrite my address to the proper format, the delivery will fail and tracking will tell me they couldn't locate my address. It's an inconvenience having making these changes whenever a shipment is on the way. And the times I forget to do it, it delays the delivery for 2 more days.

Dealing with these two problems simultaneously is making me dislike DHL, as much as I like their delivery times.

My cup of tea: I’m really annoyed with doll proxy services asking +100usd commissions for just a mail doll. 10% would be the logical thing(?) why can’t I find a cheap proxy who owns VS membership.

Bound to happen but still annoying: bidding on items. A few months back i was looking for a very specific pair of volks sandals and i came across them recently. Ive been bidding more than id like to and i think im gonna get sniped anyway LOL. Hopefully i find them again in the future if that happens but ive already admitted defeat in my head T_T.

Oh yikes, I also hate bidding!  You either bid honestly and get sniped, or you try to be the sniper and still get sniped at the last second!  Finding the perfect pair of shoes that fits is already hard enough, so I hope you manage to get them sooner or later, no matter what! 🙏

Lol thats true >.< Thank you I do hope i can come across them (hopefully not in a bid the next time) Although i could probably get similar style shoes its just not the same feeling as having *the* shoes youve always wished for

My recent annoyance is that I bought a pair of shoes using eBay for the first time in a while. Once I got a shipping notice, I realized it had shipped to one of my previous addresses. It hadn't occurred to me before checking out that that would be an issue, because I paid using PayPal and my address is correct on there. I haven't lived at the address used in over a year and a half, it's in another county, and I'm not acquainted with the person who lives there now. So I called the post office there and asked them to watch for the package. They put in a note for me, so I hope they catch it. I apologized and confirmed that I have updated the address on that site already. 😖

recent annoyance all revolve around DHL being either absurdly priced or just incompetent, they have 2 of my shipments STUCK for over a month for no reason, I contacted the vendor and they shipped a replacement..... which also got stuck with DHL!! 

😬 Yiiiikes. Seems like I've gotten super lucky; I've yet to run into any shipping issues. I've actually been getting deliveries much faster than I expected I would, both through DHL and USPS. Sending my good luck everyone's way, hope you guys' orders arrive safe and sound.

Omg I had the same thing happen years ago!  Mine was a $100 cell phone that I had to entirely just eat the cost of and order another one.  I hope they can re-route it to you!
