Oh no!  ;~;  I can't say I'm too surprised, as the website does specify that with so many people trying to checkout at the same time, more orders may go through than stock allows for, but it's still of course so disappointing!  I'm so sorry, I hope you can manage to get him one way or another soon! 😭

I fully believe that this was a last minute 'let's sell what little stock we have under the excuse that it's Miku's birthday' sale and that there were probably only a handful of each available.

I don't think it was anything that cynical. Volks USA does these type of surprise events all the time, and in a way it's something they can do here through their webstore that takes the place of being able to hold Dolpa every few months like they do in Japan.

That's true, and as much as I wish things like Dolpa would work in the US, I'm very thankful everything is held online instead.  I guess really though it would just be interesting to see actual numbers, even after sales are over.  Like how many of each was available?  I get why they don't release numbers, but I wanna know!

I think you can tell, because the item shows as backordered if you manage to buy an out of stock item.

My Miku also keeps her default wig and doesn't get moved around a lot, but it still manages to get tangled to heck and back. I've found pet brushes (those ones with the thin, metal prongs that help de-shed/unclump fur) to be best for detangling wigs without messing them up.

Ain't that the truth? 🙃 Mine stands on my desk but I swear you can glance away for a second and look back and at least one of her pigtails is messed up again.  She's not my first doll with a very long wig but that doesn't make it any easier to maintain.

I find that smoothing them with my hands is the best option for fixing little fly-aways in the pigtails themselves, and if there are actual tangles I use a fine-toothed comb to gently de-tangle, and a soft toothbrush to smooth any stubborn bangs around the face.  I have the Wig Mist already, but I actually bought some Water Wax last night since the official guide for styling her wig uses that, and I think it'll do a much better job at holding the sections together than the Mist.  The guide is right, though; when in doubt, a spritz of water definitely helps smooth things together.

My Miku's wig actually has a lot of little 'kinks' or frazzled-looking pieces at the ends of her pigtails, so one of these days I'm going to try and carefully flat-iron on a low temp to see if I can further smooth things out.  My main complaint is that her pigtails use two different lengths of hair, so there are always little ends that stick out about 2/3 of the way down... ugh.

Hmm, I just received a notice that the shipping label has been generated. I'll take that as an indication mine won't be cancelled? Lol

That feels really fast though, even for little stuff like oil mist or water wax I feel like they normally take quite a bit longer to generate the label and start the shipment. Not that I'm complaining 😅

I just got mine as well!  I'm not surprised as I didn't purchase any dolls, but it is super fast!  They must really be pushing to pack as many orders a day as possible.  For what it's worth, I also checked out at 00:01am apparently, so they may just be going in order.  I hope everyone starts getting shipping notifications soon!

Oh no! That's such a cute outfit set too. It does indeed suck. xD But it's ok; it means I can save that money for other doll stuff.

Oh, I went ahead and bought it from Mandarake after that. It was easier to justify the aftermarket price when I was already mentally committed to paying the regular price. 

One bit of advice for people getting their first Miku. Unless something has changes with he reboot version, her wig cap is really tight. I’ve found the best thing to do is pop her head off, cup the wig cap in the palm of your hand, and then slowly work the wig into the cap. Pushing the wig on by pushing on the cap itself can mess them up. 

Her cap is probably tight to keep the wig from constantly slipping off her head. 

You shouldn’t need a protective cap with her wig.

Thanks for the tip! I've always taken heads off to put wigs on anyways, but good to know that a tight wig here will be normal. I take it the wig is tight on both the regular and Sakura Mikus?

I only have Hatsune Miku & Snow Miku. Snow Miku's wig isn't as tight as Hatsune Miku's. Think Hatsune Miku's Senbonzakura wig was the tightest of the three.

Seconding this, getting the Senbonzakura wig on was a feat of strength and willpower.

I find that putting the lower back of the wig on first, then pulling the bangs forward over the head, is the easiest method.  If you try to do it the other way around the wig just won't go down.  I think the guide book that comes with Miku tells you to put it on this way, too, and to 'gently pat her head' after securing the wig to make sure it's pushed down all the way in the back; you'll feel an empty spot in the back if it's not all the way down.  But trying to 'push' it onto her head entirely will definitely mess up her pigtails.

That's definitely true for a lot of wigs. The only wigs I find where that isn't true are wigs with small very stretchy caps.

It can also pop the fibers on the head cap out of place. That's a very common thing with ponytail wigs.

Also going off of the Project DIVA games, Miku loves vegetable juice and melon soda, but hates milk and iced coffee!  She also likes cookies, cream puffs, and birthday cake...

I believe the translation basically says that pushing the wig without pulling causes less damage to the pigtails and neckline, so you can maintain a beautiful style.  But we all know it just means to gently headpat your Miku.

I saw this and thought you might prefer the option of using hot water to reset those ends straight!

You can poor directly from a kettle onto the pig tail, or dip the hair into a boiled pot of water.  Set the hair out flat,and allow to dry. I use this on any wig that I am concerned about being heat-safe and have had great success!

I have heard of the boil method, too, but never used it myself!  I'd definitely be willing to try it out on her wig, though I'll probably start with the flat iron, as I have one that I can set the temp of, so I can start it off low.  Also, just for reference, her wig is specified as heat-resistant in the listing for it!  Which is the only reason I'd ever attempt it on such an expensive wig lmao
