I got so excited when I realised the black nun outfit neckline would be safe when combining with the new body stockings but then saw it doesn’t fit DDdy. Then saw there is no Dynamite stocking either anyway. I would have loved the black or white nun dresses for 2B but out of luck on that I suppose. Why no Dynamite love this issue? The choice is even more limited than usual.

Liking quite a few other things including the Princess Skirt but I get the feeling that that skirt and other items I want are gonna go pretty fast. Also have no idea what I’d even use the Princess Pom with, I just love the volume of it.

Check the ‘Supported Sizes’ text on each items listing page to see what Volks recommends will fit. Generally they’re accurate, although items with a smaller range of compatible dolls tend to have a more tailored look. Also, the Tenshi no Kokomo line is a better fit for the DD series dolls than SD series, and items from other lines often target SD primarily. 

 

I’m also really interested in the princess pannier, but know the competition will be brutal. I got lucky on the white pannier from Volks USA and I need more ruffly fluffs now!

SDGr/SD13 outfits tend to fit DD/DDS fairly well, and stuff that fits DD is meant to fit DDS even though it’s going to be a bit big on DDS.

Most MDD outfits fit DDP, but fits will be a bit small in places and outfits with pants won’t work due to the difference in leg length.

SD16 and DDDy can share some stuff, but the waist fit will be an issue with a lot of things.

MSD outfits should fit MDD.

You can’t put MDD/MSD/DDP outfits on a DD/DDS/DDDy, but there have been a few exceptions. I got a set for my DDP that had a sweatshirt that was so big on DDP it also fit DDS well. 

Any outfit made for SD is going to have something of a gap at the waist on a DD. If the outfit has a fitted jacket this isn’t too big a deal but it can be really obvious with some types of clothing. 

Honestly, I'm kinda glad the fluffy skirts and kitty things are prob gonna sell out fast. That's more money I can spend on Elsa other things.

I think they will have other outfits that can use it. As we’ve seen with the Pompon skirts, they keep rereleasing them in popular colors, and they keep making outfits that use them. I’m sure the nun outfit can be worn as a black gown with the new skirt as a ruffled underskirt. 

The only real issue with it is the price is the same as a full outfit.

It seems weird to me that SD16 clothes are marketed as also fitting DDDy but SDGr/SD13 aren't, seeing as how DDDy isn't any taller than a normal DD (I think they're actually a few cm shorter?). Do the hips/bust really make that much of a difference?

as a slight side note, The praying sister set from seven years ago supported dynamite, if you happen to come across it on the second hand market. its of the more shiny satin sheen, but still pretty nice.

In general, hips and bust measurements have more of an effect on clothes fit than height does; that applies to humans, too.  A skirt being a little long or short isn't that big a deal, but if it's so tight you can't fasten it or so loose it falls off, then it won't work at all. To use a doll-specific example, I got an outfit set for Rin (M-bust DD) that was listed as only fitting an L bust, because most outfits are M/L and I figured it'd be close enough.  The blouse is tailored at the bust, though, and it's too big for her.  It looks fine with the jacket over it, but it'd look wrong if she wore just the blouse.

SDGr is about the size of an M-bust, maybe a tad smaller even. Don't have a DDDy, so I can't comment on the hips.

They are very very large pieces of real estate.  Even if a skirt might actually be okay around the waist, you wouldn’t be able to put it on the Dy without taking her apart (in half).  And it might look super strange too, because it could be too short, again given how much backside it needs to cover.

It's next Saturday.

Only two outfits and the new DDH-22 head caught my attention, so I think this is the safest I've been in terms of new releases. I hope the site traffic won't be super bad since the outfits and DD gathering items' release coincide with ReiMari's preorder openings 😵

You mean like last time where the site was down for me the entire day. If they know they're going to get heavy traffic why don't they upgrade their site.

I suspect the issue is ongoing expense. Say your cart system normally get 5000 hits a day, but once every month during sales it spikes to 25,000 hits an hour for a few hours. It doesn't make sense to spend the money on a system that can take those 25k hits the other 30/31 days each month.

Bursting is an option, but that can get really expensive, and you're on the hook for the bill even if you don't make enough during the sale to cover the cost of the burst capacity.

Assuming the Japan store hosts in their own data center, then they could run on a VM and reallocate CPU / Memory / Prioritization prior to sale days, but if they are hosted then they are looking at a burst agreement of some sort.

It looks like VolksUSA is going to be doing a preorder for the DDH-16 blanks 10-9 to 10-31 if anybody is interested. It's listed as part of Volks News 89, I'm not sure why.  But I know it's a limited Choice head that a lot of people have mentioned interest in before.

Rather torn - I'm kind of interested in the head, but idk if it's the best fit for the character I'd be making, and I'm REALLY trying to control my spending right now because Elsa so if one of the standard heads would work better I'd rather hold off on it. (Also there'll probably be a decent influx of ddh16 on the market later from all the customizers/other people buying them).

Is issue 89 going to be up on Volks USA for purchase as well soon? I was thinking of ordering it and the head together, but there's no listing yet.

well, that was my first click war.  hooray for remembering, and waking up on time! i ended up not getting the cat set, but i sure did buy something much more expensive! i finally admitted to myself after a year that i do in fact, want a Karin. i also skipped buying a head, since i wont be needing it now lol. still got the old outfits i wanted and the MDD bodysuit though, and i bought a DD one for good measure too.

aaa my wallet is hurting so bad... it's worth it though... do it for her....

 

i wonder how long it will take for volks to ship out orders from today? 

I was having a bad evening, and forgot to get to the website until after this event had started. I got some things I wanted, but I just barely missed my top three items. They were in my cart but went out of stock while I was checking out. Now to spend the rest of the evening checking for restocks... 😭

Edit: restocks came up, and I got my second order with the items I missed. The second shipping fee is not ideal, but we can still change to happy face 🙂

They've restocked the store for the event.

For those after the items that ship in November, the event has just started.

Was able to snag my poofy princess pannier, yay! Also got some new heads and deka MDD hands to try out.

Got everything I wanted this time. I wish I had known everything else I ordered in the 1st wave was again in stock now. xD Would have combined it as one order then. 

They've restocked the corsets, if anyone was after those.
