misskale Posted January 19, 2012 This is sort of two questions. The first is, with the DDI being a strung doll, are the connections for hands/feet compatible at all with SD's? The second is, on YJA, what would you say (in dollars) is the normal price you'd consider good/excellent for the different body styles?
mitsuki Posted January 20, 2012 I haven't tried putting any other kind of heads onto DDI bodies. This is what they look like inside the head: Right now the USD is weak against the yen, so the dollar doesn't go far on Y!JA. A new DDII body is $231 from Volks USA. You can find used stained ones for less, but even then most of the time they are still well over $100. The DDS body can only be purchased as parts amounting to almost $350. On the secondary market, the DDS body goes for $400 to almost $700. The DDIII body is a little more than the DDII based on the price difference between the first and second versions of Aoi which is $44. So the DDIII body should officially be $275 and is somehow cheaper than the shorter/smaller DDS body. On the secondary market, they generally cost considerably more. Essentially, finding DDS or DDIII bodies for the official price is about as inexpensive as would be possible. I am not familiar with the MDD body so I can't say anything except that it is officially $218 from Volks USA.
misskale Posted January 20, 2012 As for heads I've heard that SD heads look large on DDIs. I was just wondering about whether the split toed SD feet would fit on a DDI in order to wear geta. I saw in the other thread about them not being able to stand up on their own "as well" unless they're strung tighter. But I was thinking of a posed scene that would use a stand. And, yeah, it makes sense to want to keep it closer to the Volks website prices. There are just many dolls today that seem to be on the "good" price range, at least for now. mitsuki Posted January 20, 2012 Chun made a modification to the DDII body so it can wear geta. She even had a tutorial on how to make geta for your DD. http://puppy52dolls.com/tutorial/dollfie-dream-geta/
misskale Posted January 20, 2012 It was actually that post that made me think about ways to not have to cut the foot. >_<; But those were very nice sandals.
Kumi Posted January 20, 2012 Buy a new pair of feet, only for wearing geta Otherwise there is no way to make a realistic looking geta sandals. Translucent silicone strips in front (found in some designs) are, well, not enough invisible
misskale Posted January 20, 2012 Mm... I can see that happening. Right now I admit it's a little frustrating bidding on things when you have to go through a proxy.
