Gabriel Development Diary (NSFW)

I thought I’d share some of my work on my most beloved doll, my Gabriel! She’s gone through some evolutions over the years, and they continue as a slowly get her more and more perfect.  For reference, here are her design sheets.  She’s a magical girl, and her hair and eye design are different in her mundane and magical girl form, sort of like the “Utter Transformation” in various Precure series.  It’s hard to tell unless there is a direct side by side, but she has more hair in her magical form.

Her voile (her magical girl costume) has gone through some changes since this version was made, so I have it on my to do list to make or commission a new one.  I custom made these eyes for her, back when I was running Blue Heaven.  I want to try resin casting eyes this time!  Those above are acrylic.

So while I love this version of Gabriel, there were things that were off.  Her skin tone isn’t right.  It’s meant to be very fair.  Additionally, she was way too tall!  When I built her originally, DDS hadn’t been released yet.

She was painted by the wonderful Hikaru132 at Ohimesama Aesthetics based on mockups and illustrations from me.  She was a really good fit for the way I was drawing Gabriel at the time, but since then I really have embraced the moe hard lol.

So Gabriel’s second version came about when Volks teased the DDS body.  I was sold, hook, line, and sinker and bought Mariko immediately upon her first release.  She was perfect!  The mold was an ever better fit, she was the right skin tone and height!  It was all gravy.

Suffice to say, I was really sad when Volks discontinued WS for DDs.  I love SW too, but I just love really fair dolls.  I’ll eventually do a FCS for a WS resin Girl from Volks.  It’s on my bucket list.

So this Gabriel is super beautiful and wonderfully accurate.  As you can see, I draw her with bangs now, so I’m either going to restyle it or get a new wig.  It’s a custom blend of fibers from ForMyDoll, which is why it’s such a good match.  Fortunately, I’m much more comfortable styling doll wigs now, since I have experience styling my own wigs for Jfashion.

So everything was perfect with Gabriel until I saw the Angel Philia Mona.  I was shot through the heart, I mean fatally wounded by this doll, so I bought her promptly.  I really want to put Gabriel’s head in the new Mona body, and I’ve bought a neck pin for swapping.

I’m really excited about the possibility of her wearing Azone clothes because there are many I love.  My ultimate goal is twinning with her, since she’s a daily lolita like I am.
 

 I’m thinking about turning my original Gabriel DDH-003 into Jabriel, Gabriel’s mother.

 

Gabriel is sooooooo cute! She's so sweet and lively (♡´艸`) I'd love to see some side-by sides of her uniform and voile when it's updated.

Thank you so much!  Your comments make me really happy.  I’m going to take some new photos of her soon.  We just moved cross country during the summer, and most of the girls are still in their boxes and carriers, including Gabriel.  I’ve been unpacking them over the last few days.

A big problem I’m dealing with right now is that I packed the bases of the cool cat stands in a different box than the armature part because of weight, and I currently have no idea where they are lol.  I’m going to the storage unit to check boxes today.

I am planning to do side by side of her uniform and voile too.  I actually have side by sides of her in her two forms nakie already for just that purpose (and to show the physiological differences like her wing spurs, her eyes, and her hair).

Right now I’m in the process of doing the illustrations for the light novel where she is the main heroine, and it is occupying a massive amount of my time lol.  The third image of her with all the books is actually the cover.  It took eleventy billion years, but I’m really happy with the finished product.

I’m also so so happy because I just managed to snag the vinyl doll I wanted for a reshell of her husband and the primary male protagonist of the story.  He’s completely sold out in the color I wanted him in, so I was over the moon to find him, because the aftermarket for these vinyl dolls is basically nill.  I’ll post a development diary for him soon too, with his illustrations. 

Gabriel’s new body arrived and I am absolutely in love with it!  I gathered up some more concept after for comparison with the body.

I would have bought it already if it came in a redder brown.  I actually want it in the Budoiro color.

I love the colors penguin workshop has too, and I’m even thinking about making a custom wig myself!

I’ve also been clothes shopping for her, since she’ll no longer fit  her current wardrobe.

Not only are the beautiful clothes that she would wear, they also put me closer to my goal of being able to twin with her, since I own items that are similar or identical to all of these pieces.

Ahh, I just realized that I haven’t posted her prettiness here!

I’m really happy with how she looks right now.  As a bonus, I actually have a spare 50 cm body right now so I can put the original Gabriel back together too.  Double your pleasure, double your fun,

but particularly double your trouble.

I’m so happy with how solidly she stands.  She doesn’t really need the stand she’s on, and it’s not really doing all that much to hold her up.  On her sister body she was prone to faceplants, depending on how she was standing.  That fits her character, because she often works herself to exhaustion and then faints, but I was always concerned about her eyes getting knocked out of place or her little nose getting scuffed.
