Volks SD - Disney Frozen Collaboration.

They’re so cute, I’m not going to get them because I’m waiting for adult Anna and Elsa, I really hope Volks reveals them soon.

I've been scanning their faces trying to find hints as to what the adult dolls might look like.

Actually I think Elsa would make a cute regular SD if someone wanted a teenage version.

Always need to wait to see more photos with Volks. But so far I think I am safe. They didn't turn out like I imagined.

 

I am eager to know if Elsa is actually bigger or if its just clever photography

It doesn't list her as a new body type. Maybe it's a longer leg option or something?

Edit: I put the pics next to each other - Elsa looks a bit taller, but it might just be the way they're standing? Hard to say.

I’m guessing she was just closer to the camera. Unless they marked the floor where the dolls stood and the photog was using a tripod, there is going to be some variation. Elsa’s legs look thicker too, which could be distance, but could be pose too.

Yeah I read through the scanned pages on them and Elsa’s details don’t indicate she has long legs or anything like that.  Also indicates there will be an online sale (that changes to lottery when order max exceeded) post dollpa. Order period December 20-January 10

So it’s almost certain to go lottery, especially with a 20 day order window.

Could you please tell me what the descriptions of the bodies are? I've noticed there are a bit different, but I don't know a lick of Japanese ^^' Volks does seem to emphasize the difference in size in every photo, but it might be just confirmation bias.

Given what happened with Alice and Lorina... expect order max to be exceeded on the first day by scalpers only -.- While I appreciate Volks trying new order methods, it really makes no difference with dolls this popular. I wonder if they are happy with how the actual preorder this year went (Lieselotte etc.).

No, but given what you can see on yahoo!japan only, I think it's safe to assume it was not a negligent amount.

Elsa is adorable. But yeah, this is going lottery. Probably also means that the grown up versions will also be lottery, a d that I am going to pay a scalper for Elsa...

...for some reason, the lottery is reassuring to me. Gives higher chances of getting, vs a Click War ... ya know?

Volks USA page - finally high-res versions of the pic yay.

Looks like USA is going to just be lottery, and they're $720 each. Which isn't bad considering...but I'm still waiting for adult Elsa.

Our odds in a USA lottery are probably better than international. One big USA benefit is they do seem to offer option hands and feet to winners. Idk if that is a thing with Dear SD, but it’s worth entering the US lottery for that reason. 

Sidenote: the international store lottery right now is limited to Japanese residents.  Not sure why when people in say Europe can’t buy from volksUSA but yeah…

Until this release, DSD didn't have option parts like hands or feet, so it was kind of moot. It's still kind of moot because these two are in the Disney collab line only resin tones, so they won't match standard Volks colors.

 

I imagine there are licensing reasons for why these aren't being sold outside of Japan and North America. At least it's better than Cinderella and Rapunzel, who were Japan only. IIRC Rapunzel wasn't even available for sale at Dolpa or any after events, you had to do a lottery for her in advance and could pick her up at Dolpa if you won. I think Cinderella's release was during peak Covid shutdown so she had a web lottery. There was also something about putting in order applications at Disney stores? It sounded really confusing. This is at least straightforward and more widely available.

Ohh those spread out hands look so cute 🥺 I didn't realize until just now how badly those need to be a thing for DSDs! Maybe they'll release similar ones for others to use in the future.

Unless they make option parts just for this sale. With Oscar the Volks USA option part orders were placed months ahead of delivery so they have been made to order. I just want to stress, I’m not saying it’s guaranteed that Volks USA will offer this, but if there are option parts then Japan orders will likely have an order form that is only usable by customers within Japan.

It's also standard for international orders to be able to order extra parts now though? In fact, you can order even if you didn't buy the doll the parts are for. The purchase link appears to be open to everyone and I know a bunch of people who just bought SDGr parts because of Lucia.

I haven’t checked in ages, so if that’s so then that’s pretty cool.

I started noticing anyone being able to order since at least this summer. You could do it for Alice and Lorina too, but I didn't see anyone post the link publicly for whichever of that pair was the WS doll, so I've only seen people grabbing PSF SDGr parts >w<. As long as you have the link to the area where you purchase parts (which is reliant on someone sharing it if you don't have the doll), Volks doesn't seem to care if you have the doll or not and has been allowing people to purchase extras. You could even buy spare wigs this time around. I haven't heard of any order cancellations yet either, and it's been probably 2+ weeks since I first started seeing people talk about it for Lucia.

You've been able to get extra parts for limited dolls from the international site ever since Global membership was implemented though, maybe even before.

Perhaps the special links were shared with club members or mailing list people? Some sites will do that to help curb traffic (and hopefully scalpers)
