I Got a Rock - Only the Brave/Chaos Outlet Randoms

Disclaimer for those who have no idea what this is: Only the Brave is a blind box style item drop that goes up at random with little to no warning. It's only available to those who have previously purchased a full doll through the Smart Doll website, or through their only licensed dealer Fabric Friends & Dolls. Likewise, the Chaos Outlet section of the site is a dumping ground for bits and pieces of the dolls that weren't up to snuff and is also only available to those who have made a full doll purchase through the aforementioned means. Normally the Outlet items would only be available to those who physically went to the Mirai Store, but the pandemic forced some changes so it was put online with a catch--it's also basically a blind box. This thread isn't meant to discuss how you feel about that or the qualifications to purchase things as there's a whole thread dedicated to such things already in the General Discussion subforum.

Mentions of what others have gotten from the Only the Brave and the Chaos Outlet randoms have been spread all over the place, so I thought I'd open a thread to act as a dumping ground for whatever you've gotten through these means.

... Also I'm just painfully curious to see what everyone else has gotten, and Instagram's tag algorithm is atrocious, lol

Starting with myself, I got a He Pebble that turned out to be the normal cinnamon Gemini that everyone else so far has gotten to my knowledge. He's adorable and exactly what I wanted. I've also made a couple of Chaos vinyl head purchases, both of which turned out to be cinnamon F4 and F6. That seems to be the most common pack, and worked out great for me because those were also exactly the heads I was looking for. The eyes are uncut, but that's alright. Gotta learn how to do that somehow.

I've gotten a bunch of Chaos heads, mostly they've turned out to be Cinnamon/ Tea F1 or F6, but I'm lucky enough to get a Milk Genesis and a Milk F6! No cocoa yet though.

Oh man, getting milk anything is great, but those are both fantastic. I'm low-key hoping for a guy head or maybe a Genesis in cinnamon eventually to play around with... And also hoping that the store reopens in February with an IRL outlet section again lol

I got 3milk F4 and 1milk F1 all open hole eyes so i can say im very lucky, some day i must purchase a pair of orange caps.

I agree! I'm doing faceups on the others as practice as the milk is more precious... eheh

Good idea. Do you think you'd be willing to share your progress on this forum, like in the customization area? Curious to see how they turn out.

Are the He Pebbles the same price as the She Pebbles?

Nope. They're about ¥6000 more, which is kind of unusual because the guys are normally ¥5000 more, but I wonder if it's because the He Pebbles so far have all come with their boxers, as opposed to the She Pebbles which I think might not have their underwear set like a normal doll. The boxers were a pleasant surprise, actually, as the Simplicity page states that the first rounds don't come with underwear.

Is there announcements when the He Pebbles are available? I was glancing at the shop and saw that it was an option but I didn’t go for it because I didn’t want it to be random.

Your best bet is to sign up for emails on the Only the Brave page, but the guy option tends to sell out in under 10 minutes each time it goes up so the email might be too late to arrive. The whole point of Only the Brave is it's a blind box so, aside from the He and She options, there's no telling what you'll get. As of right now, every He Pebble has been a cinnamon Gemini and it's the only way to even get him because he hasn't been officially released yet. Danny has mentioned that he wants to make Gemini in blue as well so there may be a chance that one of those could slip into a batch, but he also typically likes to tease things in his Instagram posts and nothing has been in the background so far as I've seen.

So are Crimson and Eiji not part of the lineup anymore since Gemini is the only He Pebble?

I don't think that's the case, no. It's just that the guys in general are a seasonal product now and the two of them likely weren't set to be released again until next spring, whereas Gemini has been teased since early summer with hints that he would drop "soon-ish". Plans seem to have changed, though, so instead of a normal release, he's being dropped as Simplicity kits through the He Pebble option for the time being. I wonder if his arms have anything to do with it? The macho bust/arms are a struggle to put together, so someone who's new to Smart Doll as a whole might be put off by the challenge.

While things in Smart Doll Land can change with little warning, both Eiji and Crimson just have "sold out" on their pages rather than a "no plans to restock" notice so they're likely to have a comeback next year.

... It would be nice to have more options for the He Pebbles, though. I wonder if they would be added next year as a possibility. You never know~

I bought three painted chaos heads back when they were first offered, two cocoa and one tea. My tea was a Serenity with her mouth lines in red in stead of black, and both of the cocoa heads were Liberty, one with damaged paint. I also traded one of those for a cocoa Genesis head that the original purchaser got as a painted chaos purchase.  At this point, I'm pretty much done with chaos purchases. It was fun, but I can't think of anyone I'd really be too excited to get at this point.

 

All the he pebbles seem to have been Gemini. Right now, I think it seems like a fairly safe bet to buy a he pebble if you want him. Of course, as soon as you count on it, it could change. The nice thing about the he pebbles is there is a decent chance you could trade the one you got for a different guy.

Oh man that's really neat though, especially the Genesis. The only thing really keeping me from looking into the painted heads, aside from money lol, is that the page explicitly states there aren't any guy heads at all. I'd love to get an alternate Gemini head to play with, especially if it was blank. I feel guilty removing his current faceup but also I have plans.

Yeah that's true, I saw someone do that the other day actually. Guys in general make good bartering chips because of their Rarity.

If you want to give him a re-faceup, why not just use a more readily available Genesis since they're the same except the faceups? I mean, it's your doll and you have the right to wipe him, but if you feel guilty about it that's another option.

If I could just get the head that would definitely be an option, especially if it's a blank, but I wouldn't buy a full doll just for the single piece.

True, but if you decided to go that route you could put out a feeler to see if anyone was interested in splitting her with you. Again, no pressure or anything, just a suggestion. 

First round of chaos heads, bought a pack of two blank heads and a painted tea head. Got a blank Chitose (old version milk), blank Kanata (cinnamon) and the painted one was a rare tea Freedom. 

Tried my luck at Only the Brave when you could choose Cinnamon, Tea or Cocoa. Decided to go for tea and got Tea Prowess Blue whisker version.
