Making a Hestia custom. Which body type!?

I’m so lost. Idk if I should go DDdy, but I think that’s too tall...

 

i didn’t want to take up the whole "characters you want as a DD" since I’m customizing this actually, but if this should be there, feel free to merge, and my apologies.

That said. Does anyone have an idea? She’s so small and petite with a very large bust. I do have an MDD with a L bust, but she seems too small. I wish DDP had larger bust sizes. Sorry to ping you, @baldylox but I think your opinion is best on this. Haha. Customize the DDP frame to wear a L DD bust? Or DDS? Idk lol I’m so lost. She’s a hard one to figure out...

Hestia is the Goddess from Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon!? Lol. The short, feisty one with huge boobs. lol but extremely short and people make fun of her for it, so you see my problem?

DDdys are the same height as DDs, actually they’re slightly shorter but it’s not a noticeable difference.

If that’s still too tall but you want more curvier options maybe try shelling her into something like an Angel Philia?  APs are 50cm so they’re about the same height as DDPs but they have a lot more mature looking body options available. 

For comparison Weine would probably be a DDP sized one, so id personally go with a DDS L-bust, or shapely-L for the more gravity defying bust with the whatchamacallit ribbon.

Outfit wise I recall azone did a 50cm version of her so something to look out for though might be a smidge too short for a DDS, then again there isnt really much to it to begin with ... barefoot and all.

You could try putting an Obi50 L bust on a DDP body. I found a post here of a DDP wearing a M bust and it looked fine: 

I'm not sure if the L bust is the right shape for Hestia though. Maybe you could try an Angelphilia bust? The type E would work well I think. I'm not sure if that would fit as well as the Obitsu bust fits the DDP body though.

 

I have the Azone Hestia that came out in 2016, and my advice is, unless you are in love with the (very cute) face or get her for very (VERY!) cheap, don´t touch that doll with a bargepole. It is hands-down the worst quality I´ve ever seen in an Azone doll.

I got her NRFB in 2019, and basically everything fell to pieces in my hands when I took her out of the box to dress. I could have cried! If it wasn´t Hestia (a character that means a lot to me on a personal level), I would have gotten rid of the bad experience long ago, but as it is, I´m trying to salvage her - but the doll still needs a lot of custom work to look like herself again ... 

At least I can contribute a few customization tips due to the experience. Gotta take the good with the bad  

The Wig:

Azone´s Hestia wig is constructed as a short basic wig, with the hair tied into two very thick stumps onto which the twin tails are attached. In my case, the rubbers that held together the stumps had rotted and fell off, so the entire wig came apart. Once that happens, because the hair is so short and slick, it is not possible to get the stumps tied back together firmly enough so the twin-tails can be reattached. Even a doll hospital specialized in restoration of dolls failed miserably. So even if I saw the original wig for sale somewhere, I´d honestly hesitate to buy it, simply due to the way this wig is constructed. The risk that it falls apart is high. My poor Hestia is currently still bald.

I have picked up multiple black wigs by now, to see which one works best (clip-on twin tails from Ebay, long hair tied into twin-tails from Cotin Doll ... it´s not easy to find wigs with the twin-tails in the right position) but everyone I´ve found so far needs at least some additional styling with gel, and maybe even cutting, and I haven´t gotten round to that yet.

Hestia´s bell hair ornaments and the blue ribbons are about the only things that were salvageable from the Azone doll (apart from the nude and bald doll itself).

The ribbons are just regular 3mm blue ribbon. If you see the hair ornaments offered for sale somewhere, they are well-made and are worth picking up!

The Outfit:

Azone´s Hestia´s dress and gloves are made of thin latex-covered fabric that distorted and tore immediately when I tried to put them on.

I ended up tracing the gloves and have already re-made them from regular white stretch fabric, and I also took apart that complete catastrophe of a dress and traced it, in order to redo that as well. The pattern is very form-fitting for the Azo-02 body with a relatively small bust (curvy but not as large as it would be expected for the character) and needs a stretchy fabric that does not fray (due to the "ragged" edges, it´s not designed to be hemmed everywhere).

PM me if you´d like it!  (I haven´t actually scanned it yet but will gladly do so).

Also, Hestia, from Azone, came barefoot whereas Hestia, in the anime, wears beach slippers. The slippers could be made from craft foam.

The body:

Hestia is canonically very short (official height is 150cm) with a large bust, so I think Obitsu/Azone 50/Angelphilia is the way to go. K2 has made a chart of the different Obitsu/Azone/AngelPhilia bodies and bust types over in the Angel Philia thread, and going by that, I´d pick the Azo-02 with the larger "I" bust (I think the Azone Hestia comes with the "G" bust) or even one of the Angel Philia busts (Type A or even Type G). (Angelphilia/Vmf50 Type G is different from Azone Type G).

I'm very flattered to be pinged on a body type question for the lovely and adorable Hestia!   

 

As others here have mentioned, for the height issue I think maybe an AP body with a large bust would work out really well for overall shape and height.  Finding just the right boob shape will be hard tho since not many AP busts have the full rounded shape the anime version has without getting too big.  About that....

 

Maybe you can try a bit of a mod if you're comfy with it?  You could make a DDdy shorter by taking the shins off and then trimming down the frame tube underneath as well as the vinyl itself.  Maybe go an inch or so and see how it looks?  I'd say using DDS thighs would make her even shorter but those won't work with the DDdy booty and lower torso.  I guess it's going to depend on how short you really want her compared to how curvy you want her.  As others said, the DDdy bodies *are* a hair shorter than a DD anyway so knocking off another inch or so with the shin mod might be enough for you.  I think that the butt and boobs on the DDdy would be the best setup for her compared to the anime.

 

Now if the height is more important to you then you could try another setup.  Get a DDP body and then get a silicone XL MDD bust for it.  You'll get nice sized breasts but lose the big thighs and booty.  But the height will be closer to the anime size you're after.  It really depends on what's more important to you.  The AP body is more stylized and muscular while the DDdy and DDP will be softer and more curvy.  Personally that would be my choice since it fits her character better.

Seriously because of a posting on mandarake today I found a maker I had never seen before, who might be making exactly what you’re looking for: Dollypop.

Like Azone and Angel Philia, Dollypop makes custom outer shell pieces for Obitsu frames.  As far as I can tell, she’s still making them, you just have to order by email.

This is their 50 cm girl, but they also make a 47 cm I think.  I really like the sculpt of the bellies and pelvises.  You can order the parts separately, or a whole doll with the new parts already on it.  She makes thighs, busts, bellies, and pelvises, along with some original heads.  They’re slush molded by Obitsu and available in whitey.  The biggest size is even called the “dynamite” size.

I’m totes gonna get one myself because this world needs more short girls.

as for a few others, I have a ton of questions in general since I really don’t know much about Azone or AP. But so long as I can make my Heatia doll, idc. XD I will make her outfit so it doesn’t matter. I’ll probably have her wig custom made if it is that much of a hassle even with the official.
