personally I think I've botched my first NV run a bit due to having the DLC's installed and them giving you the extra goodies to start out with ... I now have ceasard assassins on my tail every so often right from the start that are becoming more and more of a pain to deal with as i occasionally run out of supplies (at least the legionare getup gives some caps, though with little bartering skills at the start im bound to run out at some point.. heh)

why do I remember some other game that did a similar thing if you tried to cheese a random number generator thing through save/loading... but could be just me.

oh boy, that sailboat in the game... "Congratulations maties, we are 100 yards closer to our goal!" (or something of the sorts), and the freedom trail was something I was curious as to its real life counterpart.. smarter every day.

Yawp, The Freedom Trail is a real thing. It is a literal red line on the ground (mostly in red brick) that will take you from Boston Common thru a whole bunch of landmarks downtown as far as Bunker Hill Monument. The game does map-squish a few too close to each other and removes a bunch of them. Hilariously, the "Old Corner Bookstore" in real life hasn't been one of those in years! Like early 2000s!! The building itself is a Landmark, but inside? a Chipotle)

Before "the plague" you could take a tour with a guide in period costume (from the Commons to the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area) and then keep walking it rest of the way if really wanted to. BunkerHill Monument had a special thing if you reaaaaaaally wanted to climb a billion stairs 300 steps up. (fun fact: Built using the giant granite blocks brought over from Quincy Quarries. another real life space in the game!)

Anyway, NewVegas lets you "reset" your blood feuds the first time you get into Vegas proper and talk to House. After that one of Caesar's lackeys will offer you a temp truce, as they want you to do stuff for them. It also helps the game understands the value of a proper disguise, and you can absolutely dress up as one of theirs and temporary fool them!!

I have to admit my brain having a bit of a furz with this one ... going "Well you'd have to be pretty sure of your shins to go strutting in public with those tight.... oh the guide is only in costume ..,riiiiight " -- I suppose the in game crew of the constitution is a bit of anod to this practice.

this is a bit un-falloutish if I am brutally honest, but does help with the angst of getting more done in one playthrough...

I did notice the disguise feature, to my dismay while trying a legion armor infront of a ncr trooper ... I think it harks back to the first few games that I think had similar aspects, that if you wore raider armor and went into a rural town youd get shot ... and at least in FO2 you got the dog to come with you in the Max Rockatansky getup, and was it that if you had power armor at the end, the enclave guys wouldnt attack you on sight ... but could be totally wrong on that last one.

*puts on hella nerd glasses* in FO1, when u fresh outta your Vault, and go to a settlement.. a dog will either follow you if u wear the MadMax jacket OR u give it some treats. in FO2, Dogmeat may be found on a rando encounter square, in the Cafe of Broken Dreams~esq diner
The Cathedral was also ... cannot recall exact thing, but getting into deeper areas needed you dressing up in Church robes to get thru

Personal fav thing to do in NV for me, is havin mah boi Boone camped in a tiny sniper's nest near Legion Camp. He cannot go into camp with me for obvious reasons, so Courier is like, "here, rest a bit and snipe a few for me while I'm out, yeah?"

Anyhow, here's a nice example of some tour guides. They each have their own "character" will stick to, complete with personal anecdotes and whatnot

USS Constitution ship IS still an active vessel, with proper ...like... Navy crew and everything. No fancy dressed tour-guides here, but they do sail out every 4th of July
Few years ago it was under yet another restoration and believe you me... I would not stop it with the dumb "they gettin their rocket boosters attached!" jokes

I stand corrected ... though to my defence I think I still had Windows 98 installed when I last played the orignal twosome, and tactics ... might have briefly visited then during the xp days just for the intro bits.

So far I've only fixed Edy ... which has been hilarious in the casinos:

"Check your weapons here. -- What about my portable death star? -- Its ok. -- Riiiiiight..."

When I was looking this up out of curiosity, it was amusing to find someone had made their university thesis about this (maybe taking a bit too seriously). But I do approove of the idea, tourists will see it as icing on the cake, and corporate tours might benefit the not so interested to become interested since the guide is putting in the extra effort.

The navy crew / ownership seems to be a common thing with vintage tall ships that are still sailworthy around the world. I would imagine the flexibily of manpower, resources and whatnot drydock possobilities are a reason.

Well its not exactly a honda civic in terms of maintenance, and im still boggled a ship of this vintage is still sailing the seas, the nearest european example would be the HMS Victory, and according to wikipedia is a huge moneypit aparently just to keep afloat in a docked enviroment. on the other end of the maseum ship scale there is the Vasa that is a fully enclosed feature in stockholm.

NV has so many excellent character moments!! ...and dumb Monty Python jokes (listen, I understand Obsidian wanted to make entire Legion Camp bigger, but just seeing that Life of Brian joke sustains me)
Like when u recruit Arcade and some time later can drag him thru the desert looking for a crashed verti-bird.... (or, and this breaks my heart, but worth it on Worst Bastard play - selling him to Caesar)

anyways, this was a photo thread. Have a fancy ship and a Power Armor that cannot hop a fence to get closer

Did try to make this a lot sooner (because things ... like VW gearboxes), but the same, in sort of virtual space:

The vantage point would have been better from the stretch of highway ... but I cant recall could you get onto that piece of road...

I think you could jump the collapsed section with the armor jumpjets ... but... effort

the other inconstency being the VX1 armor, and not the type-62 (or something or other..)

Also a random vista I found while poking around the ps4 screenshots ... not as pretty as my current pc, no sirree..
