Uzuki Shimamura (Smile and Treat version)

Guess the poll rereleases are still continuing! She must be the other DD for this December along with Lina Inverse.
This outfit is certainly cuter than the original one she came in. Her wig, eyes and faceup have apparently been updated too.

hermm.. Its definately a big upgrade in terms of paintwork ... which makes you wonder why Ranko didnt get something like that, unless this is going to be a more limited thing than usual.

Also.. Cinderella girls re-release, when the main set of girls was four to five characters away from completing the lineup (depending do you count Ritsuko or not, and or make a difference between the twins).

I’m guessing Uzuki was a BotB runner up, at least that’s likely if they are doing the same thing they did with Rin Tohsaka for the 15th anniversary.  
 

She’s cute for sure.

She's not new, but she is one of the imas girls I wanted next and she is in my absolute favorite SSR for her. 

 

I screamed when I saw her this morning. It's been so long I was starting to wonder if they didn't have the license anymore. I'm still hoping for any of my favorites (Nana, Shiki, Kirari, Mika, Noriko, Shin as top I'd pay ANY amount of money for) but I'll take this. Oh my god I'm so excited. Volks has been consistently disappointing for me personally for a very long time. So this is great.

Hopefully I have the power to resist her, I still need to buy an MDD body for my floating head and Christmas expenses are coming up so I would rather not spend much more money in a short amount of time...

Oh man, this re-vamp of Uzuki is super pretty. I'm no IMas fan, but I've always loved Uzuki's sculpt, so this is a pleasant surprise. She's going to be super high on my priorities list after I get my Mochi-Ashi girl for sure.

Maybe the lack of releases was due to iM@S girls winning BotB. If I am right and Uzuki is a BotB runner-up release, it would mean half their DD winners were iM@S, and I seriously doubt that Volks would drop that license if they are that popular.

I have Uzuki V1, she’s super cute, so good luck to you however she is released.

umm.. Ranko was just re-released this january, so this is a second for 2020. Granted 2019 didnt see any Idolmaster releases, but 2018 had two, and 2017 delivered the preorder threesome announced in 2016.

But going by that I guess next year probably wont see a new Imas doll ... but id not bet on that, as usual with my karma.

going by MFC release dates, that has ranko and arle as delivered this year. Announced in december though.

Edit: Okay, my bad... mfc also has a december date for ranko, and arle.. the thumbs only show the most recent date though.

For overseas customers yes, but she would have been sold at the in person Tokyo Dolpa in December. 

Edit: I remember people posting about her socks staining while people were still at the event. 

I'm surprised that they have chosen her. I have always thought she would be one of the Idol Master girls who are less sought after and therefore easier to get.

 

She is cute but I have never really liked the face of the first version. Since these are just promo pics and I like most dolls in them, not on "real" pictures afterwards, tho, I'm expecting to find her face kinda boring as well. xD

 

Her eyes and dress are wonderful, tho! I love this cookie and chocolate theme! ♡ I wish there would not be her name on the dress, otherwise I would have loved to use it on one of my other girls.

Waaaah I love that paint.  She’s my favorite Idolm@s girl.  I hope her actual paint is as good as the promo.  I am very weak vs that eye shape.

Love the dress but.. come ON, Volks. How many re-releases do you need of CG girls? I’m pretty annoyed because 765pro always seems to get sidelined with merch. Can we finish our original 13 and then re-release more cgs? 
 

I would be interested in seeing a side by side of the faceup update

She wasn’t very expensive aftermarket when V1 was released, but it’s possible that the new games and a new generation of fans have renewed interest in her.

It probably isn’t all that odd that 3/4 DD rereleases were from hugely popular franchises with live concerts and regular content releases. The idol girls won Best of the Best this time around.

It’s also interesting that 2/4 winners were DDS. 

We’ll have to see if they have another V2 release in summer 2021 like they did with Rin Shibuya V2 In summer 2016.

As someone who has never paid much attention to DD character releases, what does this mean exactly? (I'm assuming 765 is a character line and unitorso is the seamless torso? Have there been characters with seamless torso bodies?)

Ritsuko is the only original girl left whose Pink Diamond set would cover the seam at the torso. I’d love to see Ritsuko released, but for me she’s behind Azusa Miura.

765 Pro is an idol talent agency in a Japanese raising game called iDOLM@STER. The game never had a release outside of Japan, but inside of Japan it’s huge. Its humor relies heavily on puns that wouldn’t translate into other languages well, and raising games aren’t as much of a thing in the US as they are in other parts of the world.

There have been spinoffs like iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls (346 Pro), iDOLM@STER Million Live (765 Pro, but much bigger cast,) and iDOLM@STER Side M (boy idols.)

The unitorso was a seamless torso that Volks developed for use on dolls that had outfits that expose the midriff from right below the breasts down to the waist. The iDOLM@STER 765 Pro idols released by Volks were released with an outfit style called Pink Diamond, and for all but three of them this outfit in the games and anime revealed the entire midriff.  A lot of the 765 Pro outfits were like that. 

Technically Yukiho’s has a mesh windows that reveal her sides from below the arms to her hips, but you would still see a lot of the torso seam through the mesh.

Iori and Yayoi are the only two 765 Pro girls released without a unitorso, but their Pink Diamond outfit covers most or all of the midriff and they were the first f3 body releases too.

Iirc a few other dolls used this torso, but it was discontinued with the release of the f3 body. I don’t think you can even get the f3 frame into it without disassembly, and that would make tensioning problematic. I’ve been meaning to give that mod another try at some point though.

Sorry, I should have clarified NEW. Ranko hardly counted and was in 2019. I'm very aware of when they've been released, but there hasn't been as big of a push for them in a while. Not like there used to be.

I don't think 2019 was normal in terms of releases, but I did kind of expect something iM@S in summertime 2020. I think Starlit Season had it's release pushed back due to Covid, but it is centered around 765 Pro with a mix of characters from the spin-offs. I would be surprised if Volks didn't release something 765 Pro in response to that, and if I'm lucky maybe it will push them to make Mika.

It's supposed to be on Steam, but no idea if it has any sort of English localization.

They did just have that iM@S anniversary showcase where they displayed all the iM@S dolls, so I am pretty sure they are still in good with Namco for future releases.

The one thing that I think didn't work out for them was the extra outfits. They don't seem to be as into releasing those outside of the Hatsune Miku line nowadays.

I wouldn’t refer to the other idolmaster franchises as spinoffs. There are five branches of imas, not one and spinoffs. 
 
the psp games have English translation/patches and I’m sure the new game on steam will end up with one. There was also an english release of shiny festa but I never played it because I already owned the game

 The part with her name on it looks like it could be removable, so you could still use it for one of your other girls.

 

 

 

Hnn Uzuki is really cute but I'm not sure if I'll try for her or not haha.
