the psp games have English translation/patches and I’m sure the new game on steam will end up with one. There was also an english release of shiny festa but I never played it because I already owned the game

Spin-off: produce something new based on a popular television program, movie, personality, etc.

I think spin-off is applicable, and the various iM@S properties are derivative works of the original in the same sense that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is a derivative work, or spin-off of, Star Trek: TOS & TNG. Being a spin-off doesn’t diminish something as long as it possesses enough quality & originality to stand on its own. 

They haven’t committed to an English localization yet, and no one knows if the steam version will be region locked. They did say they are interested in expanding the game into the global market so more people are able to become Producers. Hopefully they see our market as valuable, but I think the safer market right now is other parts of Asia.

Namco are testing the waters with some niche titles, like Taiko no tatsujin which sort of came out of the blue a few years back, so its not totally unwarranted.

But, the problem is at least based on Platinum stars (which does work on european PS4's at least), the visual novel element is maybe too much of a bland fluffy marshmallow of a thing in a a world of spicy death flavor tortilla chips (Looking at you something something literature club...) -- not a bad thing per se, but you aint going to stand out. The rythm game section cant compete with Taiko or the Diva series, and the minigames that determine your success as a producer while sort of fun ... also repetetive once you are doing a full cast of girls -- and bloody frustrating with the bloody dice you need to balance with the controller... So would it actually be competitive is a thing.

So I am a bit skeptic about it, since I unfortunately think one part of the popularity might not be that people get to play for instance Iori Minase's manager, but rather that they can make believe they are Rie Kugimiya's manager.

Also at one point I kept reading that voice and music licencing has become more of a region localization issue, and there might be extra detours involved since they would have to negotiate every song with every seiyuu.

but eh... been known to be wrong before ...

Cinderella Girls is a different brand under the umbrella of idolmaster. Puchimas or xenoglossia are spinoffs. 

I'm really excited to see Uzuki being re-released and with such a cute outfit! I missed out on the first round and I'm really hoping to get her this time.

I'm just a bit concerned that they didn't post any information regarding after event international sales... They just said after event sales would be at Volks Japan stores.

I have some sad news, my proxy enquired about Uzuki's release details since I noticed she won't have an international after party release. Volks staff at doll point said Uzuki will be a dolpa only release and there are only 44 of her being sold through lottery (I guess to commemorate the 44th Dolpa).

I'm really disappointed because not only will international collectors not get a chance, but also this means she will probably be super scalpered.

I hope Volks changes their minds about this because it's ridiculous. But we can only wait and see...

I’m not sure what you mean or where this is coming from, Uzuki is -absolutely- listed in the dolls that will be released at the After Party....? At the end of this page.

The online store details have never been announced this far in advance. Uzuki’s page itself isn’t even up yet. At you sure the proxy didn’t accidentally ask about the Boys Dormitory rereleases?

It would be best if we just waited for official Volks news than taking hearsay from proxies when they've been proven to get information wrong in the past.

Yes I saw that on the website too, and so I was wondering if Uzuki would be released internationally at all, since only the resin boys were listed for online release. My proxy wants Uzuki (for herself) as well so she was just clarifying with Volks staff about it, and that's the response she got. I'm just as confused sinced Uzuki is listed for after event at Japan stores. But I mean, Volks has changed their info on the releases before (like with Cinderella) so I wouldn't be surprised.

‘the resin boys’ you mention are rereleases of older Boys Dorm boys, not the new ones. They’re listed there to show they are web only and *won’t* be at the physical stores, unlike the rest which will have both. It doesn’t say they’re the only ones for the web. In addition to a small web lottery those boys are getting a small rerelease of 44 at Dolpa. They did a similar thing with a release of SD Tyltyl earlier but he didn’t get a web lottery after at all,so these boys got a slightly better deal.
It also says to wait for further web store details right under this.

edit: as for the info your proxy received, I’m sceptical myself. It seems there’s a bizarre amount of misinformation touted by people who ask Doll Point staff for release details and I have no idea if it’s because the staff themselves are wrong or they’ve misunderstood. It is not normal for shop staff to give information that hasn’t been publically revealed though.

@Monty Thanks for the clarification, and yes all we can do is wait and see. I was shocked when Cinderella was posted for GL and then taken off without any notice so I am hoping they do not pull something similar on this. Fingers crossed that the Volks staff conveyed the wrong info and Uzuki will be released for international!

Her special site is up now, as expected shes available online in the After Event which is on January 23rd, no exact sales method details are out yet as usual.

 

 

Uzuki as DD is absolutely adorable but all my girls look exactly like her (have an army of smiley girls lol..) so I'm probably going to pass. I think she was my favorite in the idolm@aster anime and was tied with Anastasia up until season 1. Good luck on anybody trying for her!

Not sure that theory held much water even before this. 

It looks like the lottery will take place before the Japan after event, so as long as results are out before the after event we’ll have a lottery shot before having to try to survive what is likely to be a clickwar.

Interesting, it looks like there were no Lina’s to spare.
