Angel Philia Mona Box Opening and DD Hybridizing! (NSFW)

Someone else has arrived in the mail! This someone was the someone I ordered first of all this year, but she wasn’t quite ready then.  I’m so glad she’s now here!  I had a mini heart attack because she was listed as delivered and signed for by me at six pm, but the post didn’t actually drop her off until ten pm.  I praised the gods when she got here safely.

 

I was a little confused when I pulled her out of the outer box, because I actually ordered some human sized stockings and another AP bust for Nanoha, and I was like “but where is?”  It was actually packed inside the box.  Clever clever.

Gabriel is super ready to be her proper height and with hips for days.

Check out those awesome stockings!  With 80+ pairs of brand Japanese knee socks, it’s not like I needed more legwear, but hey, I love things to put on my legs, what can I say?

FaithZ also sent me a cool catalogue for an event they ran in 2019.  It made me reflect again on how we aren’t having events like that in 2020.  Even the conventions I’m associated with had to do online events only.  I really want to go to a Japanese doll convention at some point and shop for all the amazing things.

 

And here they both are, lovely and proud to be in their birthday suits.  It was a bit jarring seeing them together at first, because of the scale of Mona’s default head.  The size of the head is really the thing that makes characters look like they come from the same universe.

The Mona head is really beautiful.  It’s beautifully sculpted and beautifully painted.  I love her slightly open mouth.  In many ways, it has a lot of stylistic similarities to Gabriel’s head, which is WS Mariko.

The hips on these two girls are actually of a similar size, and the thighs too, although Mona’s are obviously bigger.

I think when the sister body originally launched, I really wanted it to be more the size of the Azone 50s.  I still love it, and I was happy to make Gabriel shorter at the time, but the Angel Philia body is really perfectly in proportion for her.  She’s usually drawn at 5.5 heads tall, and she has squishy thighs and big hips.  She also has a reasonably large bust, as you can see from the one she’s wearing on the sister body.  It’s not super huge, but definitely DD Large.  I have a soft silicone bust on order for her which should be the correct size. I’m also thinking about custom painting an AP bust to match her Super Whitey skin tone.

The AP  body sculpt is beautiful.  When I saw Mona I took critical damage and immediately ordered her.  That’s actually the same thing that happened with Mariko and Lucy Maria.  I saw them and I just knew.  I am particularly drawn to beautifully sculpted bodies, so getting a Vindoll for Duriel and an AP for Gabriel was like a one two punch knock out for me.  They look awesome together.  I’m over the moon.

I’m also pleased with how steadily the AP body stands. That’s the Obitsu engineering I’m sure.  DD Gabriel can stand on her own, but if I leave her too long she really enjoys faceplanting.

She do got de booty, for sure.  I love especially how the hips look from the back, and the little folds at her waist.

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

With grownup Jibreel for scale!  She’s a WS DD3.  Sister is really only a little bit shorter than DD3.  The AP body definitely puts Gabriel in better proportion.  Meanwhile, Jibreel is meant to be tall and thin and willowy.  She’s also as flat as a board.  Gabriel, who is the mama, and Jibreel, who is her daughter, are meant to give a strong gap moe feel with their designs.  Their personalities are the same way.  Gabriel is charismatic and outgoing, while Jibreel is serious and quiet and withdrawn.

ON WITH HER HEAD.

SHE LOOKS SO CUTE NOW, I CAN’T EVEN.  With Duriel added for scale.  This is the correct height ratio for them!  They have a gap moe thing going on too, because that is my jam.

Aaaaaand with everyone, so scale can be appreciated!  I didn’t get Nero down from her imperial perch though.  She’s actually taller than even Jibreel because of her greaves.  I need to adjust Excellen’s peach pai.  I think I wiggled them around wrong when I was putting plastic wrap around her inner bits.  Still, I think it’s super fun to see them all lined up like this.  I’ll take another photo lineup when my MDD gets here.

 

 

AAAAAAND here they are together!  Her head is a bit wobbly because the conversion part needs sanding, but still, I couldn’t be happier.  The strong color of her wig offsets the color mismatch between Volks White and Super Whitey too, which is nice.

If he’s on a stand he can actually princess carry her, which is pretty amazing imo.

Ahh I didn’t even think about that until you mentioned it!  That’s very cool.  I wonder if any other girls will be shipped in the black box in the future, or if this one is special.

Thank you very much!  Yeah, getting a close likeness is a strong motivator for me.  Since I’m a visual artist I’m really focused on getting them as close to on model I can manage.  Usually before I choose a sculpt I do an image collecting all the head molds I’m considering side by side with images of their head from multiple angles.  I was really shocked by how close Udell’s sculpt is to Duriel.  It’s even more obvious if you compare it to his current refined concept art, which has a stronger focus on his specific facial structure.

And their bodies are super important to me too, which is another reason I love both the Vindoll and the AP body.  They’re the right builds for them and the right height.  The skin colors are right too!  It makes them both feel really alive to me, and is a good motivator whether I’m doing art or writing.  When I put them together for the first time, after having put her head on her new body I was like “YESSSSS THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN CHASING FOR TEN YEARS.” It was a great feeling.

Ooooh yes, I’m the same way!  I’m also an artist so I’ve found that I’ve been really picky about face sculpts when it comes to planning my future dolls.  If I’m going to make a doll out of a character I like or an OC of mine, I want the doll to match as closely as I can get to how I draw them or it will forever bother me.  Bodies and height are also important to me as well, I just spent weeks hunting down an Obitsu 55 male because I needed a boy body that was slightly shorter than a DDdy and DDS boys are impossible to find for an affordable price 😂

Its sooo worth the stress in the end though!!  I’m glad you were able to find a sculpt and body perfect for your character 😁

hailing from somewhere around the late-2000's, Konomi came originally mated to a old OBITSU 23 body, so i figured she'd never scale with the modern OBITSU's such as the 24 or 26cm.

boy, was i ever happily mistaken!! i experimentally mated her head to one of the extra 26es i got, fully expecting her to look ridiculous, -and that to quickly be the end of it- but... WOW, she just fell right into place, -after a little light neck alteration- and she instantly became the Anime doll i've always been looking for!!!

so, indeed, it is quite a wonderful feeling when things just suddenly go colossally right in this hobby, especially when one's not even beginning to expect it...

I love 1/6 scale dolls.  The very first doll I ever painted was a 1/6 Gabriel on the Obitsu 24 body.  I still have her, and I still love her, with her lopsided eyes and all ahaha.

I want to build a room box for my 1/6 kids some day.  I also love that you managed to put your older dolls on newer, more suitable bodies.

And yes, I know!  Those details are some of the reasons I love the angel philia body sculpts so much.  It gives the feeling of softness just looking at it.

Your concept art is so beautiful *-* and yeah I'd say she's perfect! Those thighs are to die for.
