archangeli Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) I found some black jersey fabric laying around so I experimented with making an "infinity dress" for DD's. I apologize for the horrible lighting in the photos - I've adjusted the exposure so that you can see how I wrapped the dress. You can basically tie the "tails" in the front, back or side to suit your taste. I need to tweak this a bit still - the skirt is too short! The wrap pieces work well with the M, and L-shapely bust but I haven't had a chance to test the fit on the regular L bust. juu-yuki Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) Oh wow Angeli, that is really cool *w* It kind of reminds me of that new Youtube Ad: Btw.... will that stain? O_O Edited January 22, 2012 by Guest http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com

archangeli Posted January 22, 2012 Oh wow Angeli, that is really cool *w*It kind of reminds me of that Youtube thing. Btw.... will that stain? O_O Hehehe... short answer - no. But I'll tell you where the fabric came from another time PrettyCranium - I used this as a guide. When I'm done tweaking I can post measurements. Although this project reminded me why I hate sewing stretchy fabrics >____<" http://sewlikemymom.com/little-red-infinity-dress-tutorial/ Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
kymaera Posted January 22, 2012 Very nice. Think it would be hard to pick just one look out of those, though
baldylox Posted January 22, 2012 Very cool! She sure knows how to show off that new bust doesn't she? Great shots of how versatile this dress is. I think Fenrir made some like this too... I'm sure he has a post on it somewhere. His turned out nicely too. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

milkytea Posted January 23, 2012 You did a really great job with this dress! I love it!
scripple Posted January 23, 2012 Both dresses look nice, but I agree that it looks better with the longer skirt in Fenrir's example. Good work by both of you though. Check out my new DollFun website. archangeli Posted January 23, 2012 fenrir z78 I love the colour you chose for your dress! It's very pretty. I think the length of your skirt is much more tasteful! >__>" I was limited by how much fabric I had (unless I wanted to make the skirt portion in 2 pieces, which I didn't want to do), but who knows, maybe I'll have use for a micro mini dress Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
mitsuki Posted January 23, 2012 Those are beautiful photos, archangeli! I like both lengths. The length really changes the feel of the dress.

Poofiemus Posted January 23, 2012 Both versions look great! Maybe I can put together something like this so Nanoha has something to wear other than her default and her Snoopy sweater. I do have a question though: does it have to be a stretchy fabric to work? I suppose that I do have some sheets that may be past their peak and therefore doll bait, but I'd like to make a dent in my stand-alone fabric supply first if I can if non-stretching stuff works okay. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

I think you could use a non-stretchy fabric. Just make sure you finish the edge somehow (serge, zigzag, add a lace trip, whatever) so that it doesn't fray. I think perhaps that with a non-stretchy fabric you may not get as snug a fit with the straps? In human versions of this dress I've always seen it made in a stretchy fabric. Some don't even bother to finish the edges because the fabric doesn't fray! Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli

Poofiemus Posted January 24, 2012 Alright, thanks guys! I'll see what I've got floating around, and when it comes time to get new sheets the old jersey ones are totally getting turned into one of these.
