DD Meiko

Woah, she looks so much better than I'd expected. Her expression is great! 

I love that photo of her in the original box art pose (the jumping and looking back, that the nendoroid can also do) that and the closeup of her underneath it viewed slightly from above where she looks so cheeky is making me like her more.

It’s just that constant DD dilemma of ‘I like this character, but do I -DD price- like her?’ I can’t help being paranoid thst after she’s paid for Volks announces something I want way more that I can no longer afford for the very next release lol.

What are the SD releases this time around? Outside of those, wouldn't the earliest time for another release be summertime?

I agree that I could also see her being a cute boy, and you wouldn't even need to change her makeup really. I liked Len too but not as Len and that would have required removing his yellow eyeliner. I won't preorder her though, because I wouldn't want anything but her head, so it'll probably be easier to get separately later if I still want to.

Lieselotte, Charlotte and Lucia preorder. And I think you’re overestimating how much money I have lol (and how many companies can tempt me with new releases) The exchange rate is a lot better than it was this time last year but it’s still not ideal. Volks is also really, really good at releasing SD17s specifically when I can’t afford them (not that I’ve ever been able to), but I also know if I hold off on Meiko, nothing else I want will happen this year, because that’s how my luck works apparently.

I do kinda feel obligated just because I’ve collected them all so far outside the two alternate Mikus, although it’s a bit weird to think of it that way given that neither of my Lens stayed as Len.

I feel like she is cute and worth getting in and of herself, but I do know what you mean. If they do a Rin / Len reboot, I am definitely getting Rin just so I have all the Volks girl Vocaloids. Rin is cute in and of herself too, but the money wasn't there when she was available.

I really like her face  But I'm not interested in her character or outfit.

I'm happy (not really) that I don't have money, because I could easily be doomed by her face. The pleather though, why do doll companies keep using it? I'd pay more for a doll that didn't use this type of material.

Japan is not cattle country, so they’d probably have to import leather.

I was just thinking of the material that Miku's vest is made from, kind of like that cotton sateen fabric. I'm not too familiar with vocaloids even though I have Miku, so I don't know if this would or wouldn't work. The pleather that Volks uses is more study than the pleather on Pullips (obvious because of price difference). I know that a lot of people completely avoided the Sailor Moon Pullips just because their outfits were pleather and peeled and flaked away within a couple years.

I think the issue is that some looks are better with leather, but that’s probably really expensive in Japan. The beef there tastes amazing, but it’s $$$.

That makes sense, and yeah I hear Kobe is the cat's meow. It's still a bummer that the shelf life of the pleather is so short. Her face though is really intriguing, especially her smile.

I just had regular roast beef there, and it’s some of the best beef I’ve eaten. 

The beef was really good in China too, but much more reasonably priced. China has plenty of land to graze cattle.

Im half jokingly willing to bet the fabric became canonically pvc when yuukiss wore the outfit as a frame-flash-troll in the original Nostalogic music video that for the most part had a cosplayer supposedly singing also in said red pvc dress.

She looks awesome!! And not to be just another person bringing up Kaito when seeing this but... cmon, the possibility that there could someday be an official Kaito Dollfie Dream is seeming more probable than ever and it’s making me get all hopeful/excited! I’ve loved Kaito for around 13 years (since I was about 6), so having a doll of him would be so important to me, and I just know Volks would do him plenty of justice!! But if they do end up making him, I hope I at least have enough time to make enough money to afford him by then 😅

…well the Dolpa site is up now and scratch what I said earlier, the new dolls won’t actually be available for early sale at Dolpa this time, including Meiko - only preordered. The advantage to ordering at Dolpa as opposed to instore or online is just that people who do will get their dolls at the end of May, while everyone else has to wait until autumn (dunno when). 

So we *won’t* get to look at owner photos before ordering - and I mainly assumed we would because of how Megurine Luka was released. That’s a big shame but if that’s the trade off for a guaranteed preorder then so be it.

 

Her shipping much later in the year is another plus to me though because I don’t particularly like receiving too many dolls close together and I’m currently waiting on three as it is. (They’re all little tiny ones, and one is a contest prize, but still.)

Dang, I was hoping for a more mature face 😢 It will be easier to resist I guess! However if they release Kaito... It will be an insta-buy hehe.

I really need to stop looking at pictures of this lovely lady. She's got the same face as Miku, but I think that's why I like it so much. If Volks USA does a preorder for her, I might do a lot more housework to convince the husband/Santa Claus that I'll be good all year.

 

Looks like Volks USA and will be doing a limited preorder for Meiko! Just got an email for it!

All the vocaloid sculpts have a look that is similar to Miku, but none of them are identical to Miku except Snow Miku and Sakura Miku. 

Honestly though, this isn’t all that atypical for anime and manga. The biggest differentiator between characters is often the hair. 

To me Meiko looks more like Miku’s sister than Miku’s clone. 

Meiko will be my first dollfie and I have some questions about her preorder. Volks USA announced a limited preorder for her, but what does that mean? I know some preorders are lottery, some are available with down payments, and some have to be payed in full at time of preorder. Which will meiko be? Thank you guys!!
