Wow, does this only apply to VolksJP? Still, that's a really nice surprise indeed! I ordered from VolksUSA, but I wouldn't mind seeing her arrival earlier!

It stands to reason that if Volks Int is ready to ship to customers sooner, they'll be ready to send over VolksUSA's batch sooner as well, so fingers crossed! I still have time to settle on wigs and eyes I like for Meiko before she gets here but I wasn't planning on any dollspending til the end of the year, haha.

If they are going to ship early, I would expect we will hear from Volks USA soon. For now I would take “Volks Stores, and Dollfie Online store” literally; we have no way of knowing if available quantities cover Volks USA.

If they do ship to Volks USA this week, we will be looking at end of August early September for delivery. Volks USA usually does an inspection of each doll before shipping, and that adds a bit of time so I think early September is likely.

Got my shipping email for Meiko - still amazed she’s coming so soon. I’m looking forward to even more owner photos from tomorrow too.

Got my shipping notice as well. 😊 I'm both happy/excited, and also a bit anxious because with this addition plus some other unexpected adoptions I have recently spent too much but need more eyes and wigs. That's my own fault though, and I'll fix the situation asap.

It’s hard to say since we don’t have any updates regarding US orders. The schedule may be unchanged, or it could be the dolls are on their way to the USA branch now. If they are on their way it’s possible Volks USA won’t give an update till they have them in hand, and that wouldn’t be for about two more months. 

Since no payment is needed we may not know until we get a shipping notice. 

Oh wow this is so unexpected. Now I need to budget for an extra 200 dollars to pay the import taxes this month. I hope this doesn't mean she was very unpopular. If she doesn't sell well it'll probably negatively influence the likelihood of them making KAITO.

Don't you put that curse on us!  Anyway, I think at this point it's practically guaranteed that we'll one day get KAITO, I just wouldn't be surprised if they waited another year to do it.

There's also the chance that MEIKO shipped so quickly not because she was unpopular, but because 1) VOLKS properly prepared for her release, and had a good chunk ready beforehand, and 2) because her design, all things considered, is relatively simple.  Her outfit isn't terribly complicated, which means it can be made pretty quickly (ie: compared to Luka's, which has tons of little details).  Her wig is more or less a basic brown bob, so it's also easy to make.  When you compare her to the other VOCALOID DDs, I imagine she was a breeze for them to produce.

I hope they do wait a year to announce KAITO, my wallet needs the recovery time. Also, if they do KAITO right, they will need a brand new internal frame for a taller than DD doll, which will take some extra time if they haven't started R&D in secret already. I hope he comes on a 65 cm frame at least. 70 might be too tall, but I think it would still work.

Some people have posted pics of their Meiko dollfies and NGL, I'm not sure I like the way her default outfit fits her, but I'm not sure if that's just how the owner dressed/posed her or not.

I'm regretting not picking her up during the order period. 😢
Hopefully it won't be too hard to get her down the line.

My Meiko suddenly showed up yesterday! I didn't do a box opening since I'm not keeping her as Meiko, and therefore didn't even open her outfit. I've already changed her eyes, but if anyone is curious about anything in particular about her sculpt, let me know and I can take a quick photo!

Quick snaps of my Meiko redressed.  I love her overbite. I need better lighting but just had to take a quick pic. I think she is so pretty.

 

 

Two minutes after receiving her I get an e-mail from Volks asking me to pay for the Snow Miku Reboot, oof XD.

Finally unboxed my Meiko. I think she’s really adorable in person and I’m glad I ended up caving on her. I hope I don’t like any other DD releases this year though lol. I think 10 DDs is a nice number and I’d like to maintain it as long as possible (i know i won’t but it’s the effort that counts)

Since I ended up liking her wig in person I may not get a new one after all, but I WILL get a wig cap.

I haven’t heard anything, but the open sale of Rena makes me hopeful that they have enough stock to fulfill all the pending orders. Just keep in mind that stock of Rena doesn’t equate to stock of Meiko; it’s a hope on my part but it could be baseless. 

Something rather odd to me - I remembered today that I had read earlier on twitter that Meiko had a bigger box than Miku and the others, and I was surprised because their boxes are already huge compared to other DD boxes. 
I didn’t actually notice it when I unboxed her but I just compared her with Luka’s and while the box is a slight bit thinner, it’s a lot taller…for no apparent reason…?

(I -do- remember thinking there was an awful lot of space above her head when I opened her up though…) It’s not because she comes with a stand mic - that comes disassembled, and Luka came with one too.

I wish DD boxes had more consistency - especially in the same series - it’s kind of a pet peeve of mine. It’s like when books in the same series don’t match and so look odd on a shelf. But I also wish the Cryptonloids had smaller boxes to begin with - they look cool but they take up so much space. It’s not a huge deal, I just thought it was strange.

I thought people might appreciate Meiko Haigou, the source for Meiko’s voice, playing with her daughter. Cutest thing I’ve seen today.
