Snow miku

Hello all!

I have finally changed up my dolls to their lovely winter attire 🤩 I am so glad I kept them as I love this time of year with them.

But my main point is, I was getting the clothes out and noticed the original snow miku outfit has these awful orange stains on them, near the zipper and the sleeves have gone slightly yellow. I kept them in a storage box so I don't get how it's happened?? Is this normal?

Bit rubbish as it's a very expensive doll set.

Let me know your thoughts

Unfortunately that happens to the silver parts on every snow miku outfit :( the material doesn't age well at all and there's no way to prevent it. I'm hoping they fix it on the reboot version.

I don’t own Snow Miku but I’ve been seeing this problem reported a lot recently. Apparently this must be the length of time it took for this colour change to take place.

When Volks announced the reboot version of Snow Miku recently, I saw people in both Japanese and English requesting that this issue be fixed, so it’s definitely a well-known thing now.

Makes me wonder if the price of second hand Snow Miku, even sealed, will start to go down now due to this.

On mine the orange lines appear to conform to the fabric on the inside of the seams. It’s possible that Volks may have used a fabric glue of some sort in those areas, and it caused discoloration over time. If you look at the inner seams you may find that the orange lines follow them closely.

My Snow Miku has rarely worn hers, and the outfit was stored in a box, where it should have been well protected from light and heat.

I wasn’t happy about it, but at the same time clothing does age and wear out over time. Doll clothes aren’t going to have the same degree of wear and tear ours do, but they aren’t going to last forever either.

The assumption is that Volks needs approval from license holders before releasing an item, so materials used in designs might not be entirely their choice i.e. “it must look like this”, therefore they must use a certain material, even if it might not last as long as normal cloth.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Out of curiosity I went and checked my snowy's boots, and no discoloration that I could notice -- though mine is one of the last one's to be delivered - Stored in the second snow miku outfit bag, with desicants, and in a plastic box.

My guess is they used contact adhesive to get the zippers in place, before they could get it into the sewing machine, and maybe help keeping the sewing allowances folded. -- could be that they cut back on the glue on the later deliveries (though I suppose mine will turn right after pressing submit.)

But I do have to say yellowing adhesive has been a issue with some of my other volks boots, though nothing of this degree.

Dunno is there vinyl recolor spraypaint in a silver sheen that could be a quick fix, though you would loose the keyboard detailing (Which wasnt that apparent to begin with), and masking the blue details would be a chore.
