Volks - Faceup

Recommended Posts

simsimmerton77

Hi All!

Dumb question from me... Does Volks do Face Makeup and Body Make up before shipping?  Or is this something you have to get from a 3rd party?  Apologies if this was covered in a thread somewhere.  Problem with searching for anything with Volks or Makeup reveals 1000x of threads. 😄

Outside of blank heads, all Dollfie Dreams come with a face-up.

Volks doesn't do body make-up for any Dollfie Dreams, except for a few select dolls (like the Vocaloid series) that have painted nails, but there's still no body blushing like you'd find on some BJDs.

OK Thank you for that!  So 3rd party then?  I think I've seen a few people on Etsy advertising.

For face ups, you will find a number of people her people here who do them, you just aren’t seeing the marketplace section yet. You will need to get off of new member status before you see it.

The same folks may offer body blushing as well, but before playing for that it’s probably worth asking yourself if the doll will be wearing things that show it off?

Over time body blushing will wear off, and you will have to remove any blushing and sealant from a part to treat stains. From what I have read with DDs most people just do the nipples and be done with it, because a full body blush isn’t worth the hassle. Up to you, but it’s something to think about.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Thank you.  That was very informative!!

OK I Know this puts me on a high nerd alert level 😂, but I used to Paint Warhammer Fantasy & 40K small pewter figurines.  The "body blushing" as we call it in BJD, for me I think adds depth and perspective, the same way I'd dry brush and put highlights on my figurines.  It just looks better IMHO, especially if standing from afar.

But painting Warhammer was 20 years ago, when I was so young and had time on my hands.  And no money to pay someone because I wasn't working much.  Now I work all the time, have no time, and now have to pay someone. Funny how life may flip 180 but the problems are still the same 😁

You can definitely do full body blushing on a DD and have it turn out nicely.  I have several girls with it and I love how they worked out.  Two of them have full freckles, which I love.  This is Tasha, my first fully blushed girl.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Then I would say go for it. I would suggesting looking at YouTube videos about doing body blushing. It’s not exactly finely detailed painting. I did it on my SD Belldandy using powdered pastels rubbed across various parts of her with a finger. It created really subtle shading in places where you would expect skin to be a bit pink. With vinyls if you do it yourself you can just redo it if you have to stain treat a part.

My Bell is nowhere near as detailed as Billy’s Tasha, but the effect is nice when she wears stuff that shows her midriff or leaves her shoulders bare. With SD I don’t have to worry about stain treatment though.

Face ups are a different story. My lines are no where near clean enough to do a dolls face, so I’ve always paid.
