Volks News 91

It looks like it will be out March 8th.

In a break from the usual tradition, we didn’t get the official twitter teaser for new dolls yesterday, to marvel at over the weekend before the News (and more info) comes out. Hopefully that means they plan to post the new dolls on twitter in the morning before or as soon as the magazine starts shipping, so that they get to announce it before leaks do it for them.

Somehow I felt it wil be later in March for some reason... I always like spring Dolpa dolls more than others (should it not be Hometown Dolpa now?), so I'm curious what they release, even though my doll from previous event has not arrived yet.

Their shipping seems really backed up at the moment. It's been a month since I ordered Uzuki V2, and she still hasn't shipped. I wonder if they are tapped out in other areas as well?

The Hometown Dolpas used to be in March and August, but the March (Kyoto) one seems to have been removed since last year. (Not covid related, it wasn’t scheduled at all in late 2019 back before the world exploded). The August one seems like it’s supposed to be Kyoto from now on (as opposed to cycling through Nagoya/Sendai/Osaka) but it hasn’t had a chance to occur yet since it had to be online last year.

Removing the March event from the Volks calendar is also why we get one less Volks News each year starting in 2020, because the February issue used to have the info for the March Dolpa, so that issue doesn’t exist now. But the Tokyo Dolpa that was usually in late April/early may got moved slightly earlier, so the issue for its info (this one) now comes out in March instead of early April - which is nice, because the November issue already feels like forever ago.

Thank you for the information! I admit I did not track Dolpa schedule that closely, so it slipped my notice a bit ^^' It's interesting if this means one less event during the year.

I wonder if this may have been related to the Olympics schedule? Lots of events got shifted around in 2020 to avoid anything in Tokyo would overlap with the Games. - The changes of the Dolpa dates may have been collateral damage of this...

And as holding the Olympics this year is for "some" reason still not off the table, this may be the cause for the shifts in Dolpa again.

Thankfully there are only 2 or 3 items here that I really want. For sure gonna need that Panda backpack for Iori though. 

Edit: I take it back, the high school sets are growing on me.

I ordered from Volks Japan in mid-Feb and it took them a whole month to dispatch my box of goodies. Thankfully it only took 2 weeks to reach the UK after it left their warehouse.

Oh and thanks for the link - it's really slow to load but I like the Dream Choice girls with the DDH-09 head.

I ordered at the beginning of March and it took them over two weeks. Curious to see when my yesterday's order will ship...

Nothing that I really need to have from the new items (besides preorders 😅), maybe with the exception of Galerie de l'esprit shoes and bag.

I would certainly have liked SD Lucia's outfit.  The doll... not so much.  Doesn't fit my preferred aesthetic and I've learned I really don't like resin and/or Super Dollfies.  But that outfit rocks.

If money were no object, Meiko would have been tempting.  I don't think she's outstanding, but for some reason she's better than I thought a Meiko would be.  I find her fairly charming.  Sadly (or luckily depending on your POV) there's no chance she'll be joining my DD family.

The red Chinoiserie will be a easy purchase for me.

Isn't there a third recycling of the military uniforms coming up?  There's one particular set and some thighhigh boots that I might get specifically for Sheryl, because she would look so badass in them.

Not sure if there's anything else upcoming that caught my eye. 

 

Just a reminder that the event has started.

Traffic doesn't seem bad, and everything is still in stock.

I completely forgot about this yesterday and went to sleep without participating, but luckily I was still able to get everything this morning. I was in for three pairs of shoes and the panda bag. There were two outfits I liked, but I wasn't willing to spend that much right now. Most things are still on low stock right now- I think I only saw maybe 3-4 items that are waiting for restock.

Volks USA lottery will be from the 18th to the 21st. 

Volks USA lottery is up, from today through Monday morning. I usually only enter for one or two items per lottery, but between Meiko's outfit, the uniforms, and the panda backpack...my wallet is going to be very upset if I win everything I entered for, oops.

when are they going to post the results of the lottery?
