Till Troll Posted January 26, 2012 Just made an order with Parabox: I wanted a 50cm body and Misuzu head to make my own Mariko as I couldn't afford the official girl Now I just have to wait for her to arrive and pay customs ... I can't wait! Might have a go at drafting an outfit based on Mariko's in the meantime. I have yet to pick a name. My DDs names are themed on telescopes, and as I've moved field in polar science, I am wondering whether to change my naming regime. Any ideas? I am drawn to Greenwich, Lovell or Jodrell at the moment, and Cerro. But Chandra already begins with a C... Hale/Halley would be a cool polar and telescope themed one, but am not sure. I love Obitsu's approach to their dolls: being able to replace all the parts so easily has meant I could revitalise a 60cm girl I had lying around. But there is no denying the beauty of the Volks aesthetic... even if their option parts are more expensive. With their efforts combined I bet an official Volks-Obitsu doll would be amazing. I wish both companies had a bigger presence in Europe!
mitsuki Posted January 27, 2012 That is really exciting! I can't wait to see her when she is finished. I like Cerro for a name. I think your naming scheme is so cool!
wotafarce Posted January 29, 2012 I to am awaiting my 50cm girl to arrive from parabox, though she should be here tomorrow or the next day. The 24hr delivery service has now taken 7 days I bought one of the P Chan original sets to see how I get on with a doll that size, my current two are the smaller obitsus, also bought the original obitsu 50cm head as there is character that I am interested in trying to create. Though finding the clothes for the concept is proving hard I agree that support for this hobby in the UK (i am in scotland) not good with no local Stockists or suppliers here or in Europe that I have found
Till Troll Posted January 30, 2012 There are 1/6th scale Obitsu dealers in Europe: http://www.joliedoll.net/ http://plasticpop.de/ And you can get a wide range of DD compatible items from this lady: http://www.angelesque.co.uk/zencart/ But I agree that for the 1/3rd scale dolls themselves, we have to go further afield! My order is delayed because I special ordered some fleshtone items from the Obitsu site, and Parabox are kindly getting them for me. And no matter what speed of postage you pay for, you can guarantee it'll sit in customs for a few days atleast! Keep an eye on tracking and once its In the UK start calling your local parcelforce depot. We had an item from the US that was nearly sent back because parcelforce had it for 3 weeks and the customs office forgot to send us a letter.
wotafarce Posted February 1, 2012 She is here woohoo P Chan arrived todaytook just over two weeks from start to finish, that included five days in customs though that was over a weekend. From the customs fee letter to my door was three days Anyway she is here now and I have to say I am very pleased with her, had never seen a large obitsu in the flesh, she was well packaged and she and her outfit seem to be good quality, I ran out of time to have a good look as had to go to work. Thanks for the 27cm tips I can't forget them now that their big sister has arrived Hoping to get some pics online soon
Till Troll Posted February 4, 2012 My Parabox parcel reached the UK! And hit the Parcelforce International Hub, where its sat since Thursday morning. Customs has already assessed and applied charges (less than I thought: need to rethink my own calculation algorithm) but the backlog apparantly means it wasn't sent out before the weekend. Hopefully it'll be at my local depot on Monday, but I am gutted, as I really hoped it would be here by the weekend! It does give me the weekend to make sure my room and girls are presentable for the arrival: I lost the trouser patterns to the jeans I made, and had to cut up my girl's clothes to make a new pattern, so both ladies are currently sitting in their body socks, complaining about the cold. Time for some emergency sewing! I am so looking forward to this parcel: now even more so for the parts that will transform my neglected fleshtone 60cm Obitsu into a boy and begin his rebirth! I have also decided on names: Cerro will be the new name of Euphemia, the 60cm Obitsu, and the 48/50cm doll will be Halley. Come home soon Cerro and Halley! wotafarce Posted March 25, 2012 Hi sorry for jumping in here, I ordered a Parabox P Chan, big bust chest and a standard Obitsu head which all came in one package and cost about £280 give or take. My customs charge to have it sent to Fife was including the Admin fee just over £30 pounds I cannot remember exactly but it was less than I thought, I tried to find the paperwork but have misplaced it. hope this helps
marisa_doll Posted March 25, 2012 Wow what! I just paid £80 in charges! ... should I complain? My SQ Hibiki I am putting up for adoption a SQ-Lab Ren head on flickr. Contact me for more details!
Till Troll Posted March 25, 2012 My girl and bits and bobs arrived a while ago, haven't gotten round to posting pics! Shipped it cost ~400 gbp (less than Mariko's base price) and customs plus parcelforce came in at 60 gbp: Parabox put the value of the items on correctly, so I think I was lucky, or got my own customs algorithm wrong. I made a Lina Inverse doll from a modded sleeping princess head, debuted her at an anime convention last weekend, will post pics once I am home from my current work conference! Got lots of pics with HoiHoi!
wotafarce Posted March 26, 2012 Hi, have just checked my statements and the payment to Parabox was £280 as I thought and this was marked on the customs slip from them correctly. The actual amount for the customs charge and the admin fee to parcel force was £36.67, don't know how they worked this out but last year when I ordered an item of a comparable value from Japan the charge was, as far as I can remember, almost exactly the same. How much was your purchase can I ask as the charge seems pretty excessive.
marisa_doll Posted March 26, 2012 My purchase was £214.54 GBP What's going on Maybe I must complain? My SQ Hibiki I am putting up for adoption a SQ-Lab Ren head on flickr. Contact me for more details!
wotafarce Posted March 26, 2012 Hi maybe it depend on the country of origin, I have looked online and there does not seem to be a calculator for these charges only general advice for gifts etc. both my purchases were from Japan directly one from Hobby link and one from Parabox both listed the cost clearly. I did see on the Customs and Excise site that you pay VAT on the postage also was yours high for special delivery or something welcome to international shopping in the UK!! Cazzie_Bliss Posted December 29, 2013 This thread seems a bit dead XD So hello! I ordered an Ai-Chan painted head from Parabox and some eyes too. Hopefully she arrives soon. I don't think I'll get charged at customs for only £31 worth of an item?
Janeway Posted December 30, 2013 I have ordered from both company's and l didn't get charged custom fees. Mind you they were just parts. I am waiting for the next payday to order more parts for Moka.
