Volks USA Restock?

Hello beautiful collectors,

When does Volks USA restock usually? As in if something says back in stock 5/14/2021, is that at midnight, mid-day, etc?

I want to say they restock when they get their after event shipments from Japan.

Right, but do items typically show up in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings? An item I'm looking at says it's restocking tomorrow May 14th.

Volks USA's email update said their restock goes live at midnight tonight, right when the clock rolls from the 13th to the 14th (PDT). Hope that helps!

Perfect! Thank you, I missed this item last time so trying to catch it finally 

I've checked out their website, but they don't seem to carry as much as the Japanese Volk's site?  Is that just due to the pandemic or normal?  Curious because we're moving from Japan to Hawaii and I'm panicking I won't be able to get the same variety in Japan on the USA site?

Feels like volks usa just get leftovers from Volks JP >.<

 

I've found a few good clothings going through their restocks in prior events. 

They probably don't have as much because they have to have stock shipped to them from Japan. If you're in Hawaii, the shipping difference between Volks USA and Volks Japan might not even be that much. You don't have to switch sites just because you moved.

As far as I can tell Volks USA carries the same doll stuff as Volks Japan, but there is a stocking delay as stuff travels across the Pacific. There are some specialty items that you can only get through local Volks stores, and Volks USA doesn’t carry those items. The complete SD Full Choice System is only available in Japan.

Sometimes you find stuff in stock in the USA that is out of stock in Japan, and vice versa.

As far as hobby stuff and PVC figures, I haven’t really looked at either site’s hobby section. 

Volks USA site is listing a SD Full Choice for June 1st through June 10th. Do they also do this from time-to-time?

I’m always a bit confused when people say this because if it were true, VolksUSA would get absolutely nothing - or if it did, the JP stores would never have leftovers because they’d be sent to VolksUSA. VolksUSA may be a separate entity but it’s still counted as a ‘Volks Store’ the same way the web store and all the physical stores in Japan are counted as ‘Volks Stores’, and every single Volks store would be getting an allotment of items for each release (barring the items limited to certain locations). Compared to the other stores, VolksUSA’s customer base must be pretty small - especially compared fo the web store which is not only for all of Japan but the rest of the world, so it makes sense that the international web store is going to be allotted way more stock…. Just like smaller stores such as Fukuoka and Sapporo, which get less traffic, would be getting less stock than Akihabara Doll Point.

(On the flip side though, sometimes less traffic means things stay in stock longer.  I remember seeing the Ribbon girl set hanging around the Fukuoka store months after its release which would be unthinkable in the online store or Doll Point, and I’ve seen a lot of items on Volks USA that were sold out on the international store. (I looked for them specifically because I considered getting someone to proxy them for me, but then I spent money on something else in the end) Obviously this isn’t going to happen for a lot of sought after items though.

Yes they do. It isn’t the full selection of heads, and each full choice period is limited to a pair of bodies they choose for that order period. They do offer SD16 at least once a year, and they offer various boy models regularly.

I’ve always thought Volks USA probably requests an amount of stock based on their own sales estimates. I.e. Volks Japan may have 100 of an item to send them, but they ask for 50 because that’s how many they think they can sell.

Not to mention, a lot of US customers (myself included) are quite happy to go through the international site directly if something is awaiting restock here in the States since we don't get dinged with customs fees. If you make a large enough order and time the exchange rate right, you can even get stuff at a "discount" even with the increased shipping cost. I imagine this takes some pressure off of their manufacturers when it comes to supplying the US store.

I could see this conversation being a much bigger issue if there was a Volks EU store, though, since EU customers do have customs fees and may be more hesitant to order from the international store when something is out of stock.

Same. I buy from both depending on whatever I just happen to want and is in stock.

I tend to go after the stuff I know will be hot during the Japan clickwars, and the get the rest in the USA lottery. If I fail for an item in the click war, Volks USA is a great fallback for a second chance.

I wonder if they will have the brown version in the selection?  I mean the Dollfie Dream Choice brown runs from April until September.

I believe the full range of standard colors is available in each FCS offering.
