As for Madoka being cute, yeah she might look it but I gave her a pet fairy to play with and look what happened...

 

 

I also managed to get a decent photo of Mei while I was shooing the cat away from her...

 

 

I am so happy with the wig I got Madoka I think I'll get Mei a couple new ones as well. I've been wondering what she'd look like with longer black hair. She's quite cute now but I imagine her to be very elegant and refined with longer hair.

Ever since Azone displayed a different AZO2 doll with an I-bust during Doll Show 43 earlier this year, I had been waiting and hoping that she'd eventually be released. She was called "Yui's friend" during the event so I expected that she might be the next in line in Azone's Happiness Clover series, and it turns out I was right! She's now called "Happiness Clover Winter Humming Mahiro"

 

I'm soo happy I was able to pre-order her! I think the outfit is cute enough and her body is great for my OC~ IIRC, she's only the second AZO2 doll with an I-bust (the first was Siggy) so far and I hope there will be more in the future. I'm actually surprised that not that many of their dolls use it.

 

If there was one slight complaint though, it would be that she's 48cm instead of 50cm. ^^" I take the heights of my characters pretty seriously so my normally 160cm girl would have to be around 53-54cm at the 1/3 scale. It is possible to switch out the shins right? I don't see how it wouldn't be possible but I thought it would be better to ask around here first. I'd reckon that the extra parts I would need are the 50cm knee parts and 50cm shins. Does this sound right?

Actually, the knees should be the same, so it'll just be shin bits you need--but do keep in mind, the outer vinyl and inner armature parts are sold separately on Obitsus, not lumped together like with DDs.

Really? In that case, that's great news! I'll be able to use the extra cash to get all of the option hands now.

 

I've done leg mods on my 60cm obitsu, so I assume that the process for disassembling the outer vinyl parts on a 50cm should be either be the same or similar. Liberal use of a hair dryer and the appropriate amount of force right?

An Azone staff member tweeted this image of Mahiro and the 2nd version of Yui back on the 23rd for Yui's birthday.

 

 

So cute! Azone will be selling those outfits in January. Both Mahiro and Western Village Yui should also be released by the start of next year if there aren't any delays. Hopefully there won't be any..! I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that.. given how often Azone delays releases orz

 

As an aside, Yui always reminded me of Shiburin from im@s with wrong-colored eyes for some reason. These two Happiness Clover girls apparently being idols doesn't help. xD edit: on second thought Mahiro *might* pass for Uzuki with a different wig and a smaller bust. Is that a hint that the next girl in the series might look like Mio?

It's been a really long time since I was able to give my little cuties some attention. Having recently started a new job and having financial worries in spite of that fact sadly left little of both time and money to spare.

 

Now that the silly season is upon us everyone but me though, I've had enough quiet time to get around to finishing a mid-year project that has now turned into a Christmas present. I built this display out of an old office table I pulled from a building site. Painted it myself using some leftovers from work over the weekend. All of the teddies are rescues from garage sales, gumtree and Salvation Army/Goodwill stores across my city.

 

My phone is now on its last legs due to being dropped off a roof so the picture quality is frankly embarrassing but I hope my girls cuteness can shine through.

The girl in the middle I do believe has yet to be introduced, technically speaking she has no place in an Azone thread as she's a Parabox head on an Obitsu body but hey, the lines between the different users of the Obitsu skeleton are pretty blurry.

 

Her name is Hime and I bought her off of Facebook of all places. She's a Parabox Hime-Ane head (hence her new name) on a borrowed Obitsu 50 body. The plans are to get her on a Parabox 45cm S-bust body as I think that would suit her better and put her nicely in between her sisters Mei (Parabox 40S) and Kanojo (Obitsu 50L)

 

The display you made is so cute and comfy! All of the teddy bears are an adorable addition--I'm sure your girls all love it.

In other news, I received an email from HLJ that my Winter Humming Mahiro is already in! I'm honestly super surprised that Azone didn't delay her release at all, especially with all the other dolls they are releasing at this time. It'll be a while until I receive her though because I'll be waiting on some back ordered option hands, the standard obi50 large bust, and 50cm shins. It's so exciting that my dolly plans are coming together!

I personally think being a bit obscure is a benefit at least to me as it means I don't have to pay exorbitant prices for what I want. Hime only owes me $AUDD65 as all I bought exclusively for her besides the head was the wig. A complete brand new body if I needed one is 20,000JPY including everything but a head and is readily available.

 

I'm not 100% certain but I believe anything HLJ stocks for the Obitsu body will be more readily available at Parabox. If you're not familiar, they are a store that specialises in Obitsu and offer a variety of their own bodies based on the Obitsu skeleton. The Parabox 40cm body that Mei has is the cutest little thing, she looks like a very refined and regal young miss.

And indeed it's true that parabox is more likely to have the parts available. There was a time when I wanted to order an original obitsu head(Kanna, I believe) from Parabox and they told me that they didn't immediately have it in stock and to expect a longer wait time, but I'm sure that they have several of the other replacement parts readily available. I just decided to stick with HLJ because they have all of the parts at a slight discount and I wanted to combine the shipping with my doll. ^^

 

Mei is certainly super cute on the 40cm Parabo body, and given Misaki Mei's character she also seems refined and mysterious too. Speaking of Mei, I wish Azone would make more dolls in the Another Realistic Characters line. The Hybrid Active Figure dolls are quite nice and can look anime accurate with the painted(decal?) eyes, but I wish there were more open-eye Azones out there.

They delayed the original Homura twice, too--she was first supposed to come out in Jan 2014, got bumped to Feb, and then again to April. :/ (What miffed me is that there was no notification of the delay--the release date passed and then I went and took a look on the page to find the new one. I would have been a lot less annoyed if I'd been told directly, you know?)

My Winter Humming Mahiro finally arrived yesterday! Up until now, I've only had a 60cm obitsu so it was pretty fun to see all of the improvements obitsu had made for the 40-50cm range. I like how easy it is to switch parts now, and after seeing her in person I can definitely say that obi 40-50cm and DDS are the right sizes for the girls in my dolly idol agency. xD

I'm not completely sure, but I think that her arms aren't stock obitsu too since it seems a little thicker and longer in some comparison pictures I've seen around. Her bust is the I bust, which is the same as Siggy. Surprisingly I wasn't all that shocked or impressed(?) at her bust size, likely because the melons on the 60cm are wayyy bigger. xD Really though, the AZO2 body is so, so beautiful in person. I've been wanting one since the first Happiness Clover girl was announced so I'm really glad I was finally able to get one.

 

As I said earlier in the thread, I'll be using Mahiro's body and outfit for another character of mine, but I did put her together as intended first! She's quite adorable~

 

She's not wearing her scarf, and I let her borrow some glasses, but besides that everything is her default.

Very nice, elianti! It seemed like the pre-orders for Mahiro sold-out really fast. By the time I noticed the listings at stores, the pre-orders had already closed. I'm waiting for Westernland Yui (AZO2 50cm G-bust), which will hopefully arrive in February. She'll be my first BJD.

 

I wish there were more information on what outfits fit the AZO2 body. A lot of the older Azone 50cm outfits don't mention if they will fit the AZO2. I've seen a photo of the DDS M.O.M.O. outfit on an AZO2, so I'm wondering how other DDS clothing fits. It would be great to have an AZO2 thread.

As I understand it the AZ02 body is a slightly curvier version of the old body and a bit larger in the areas that matter - the bust and hips. Now the old Obitsu body already had child bearing hips that didn't fit into most MSD stuff and struggled to fit MDD gear, so if the new body is even larger that should easily push it out into comfortable DDS territory and maybe even DD clothes for M-bust would fit up top.

 

As for old Azone clothing, I suspect anything super tight-fitting (such as jeans or fitted tops) would be a no go but most of the looser-fitting clothing should fit. Basically any skirt should be good as a lot of them close above the hips so worst case scenario is the girl will have the booty patrol after her.

 

Anyway, totally unrelated but I thought I'd share a picture of two of my dolls for youse:

Hey thanks, Nanika! I almost caved and pre-ordered Western Village Land Yui too, but then Mahiro was announced so I decided on her instead. Pre-orders on Azone's web store closed in minutes if I remember correctly. I'm surprised I was able to catch her on HLJ. I don't have any dolls besides these two obitsus but I'm sure you'll love Yui. She's adorable and the AZO2 body is gorgeous.

 

For clothing, stuff made by Azone is definitely the safest bet since they now make clothes specifically for AZO2. I usually check Azone clothing item listings on Hobby Search since they tend to have a chart to show which bodies fit which clothing article. AZO2 clothes also tend to be marked as such too xD I agree that it would be risky to buy older azone clothes though because the bust and especially the hips are a lot thicker.

 

I believe I saw that picture of M.O.M.O.'s outfit on an AZO2 as well! Besides the torso and leg length, the two bodies look a bit similar. A Japanese blogger here took a lot of helpful comparison pictures of the two bodies, and in another post tried using some AZO2 on their DDS, which fit, albeit a bit tight in the bust area. Maybe it might be a little loose in the shoulder and chest but I think that DDS clothing would fit on an AZO2 pretty well, especially skirts and dresses. ^^

I just couldn't resist the Western outfit on Yui, so I had to have her. I hope she comes out soon. They said February, so I'm hoping...

This is probably a dumb question, but are there certain clothes that ONLY fit a DDS (and not a DD)? It seems like all or nearly all Dollfie clothing is listed as fitting both DD and DDS. So I assume those would be sized for a DD, and a little bit longer on a DDS, and overly big on an AZO2 .
