Azone 50's anyone?

I may be able to at least improve the seating of it somewhat. (She's due up for other TLC like new ankle joints anyway.)

Loose ankles or swapping out to the newer shorter ankles?

 

Cracked ankles. >< The new ones may indeed be shorter, don't know, but her original left ankle developed a crack in it bad enough the screw won't hold anymore, so her foot just falls off. It's why you guys haven't seen her in a while. ^^;

I'll see if her head is jammed on like that despite having a headcap. Even if her hole isn't slot-shaped, I may be able to at least improve the seating of it somewhat. (She's due up for other TLC like new ankle joints anyway.)

 

While it is possible your Homura is different, mine does have a rectangular sort of hole, and the locking ring was fitted the first time she came apart albeit rather poorly. One side of the head vinyl had pulled over the lock, which gave her a shaft style tilted head. Here's a photo of Homura's floating head to demonstrate.

Sadly due to a combination of losing my enthusiasm for the Madoka franchise and also having need of a body for one of my other girls, Homura is currently a floating head accompanying her full set in storage.

 

Her body does however live on under this little cutie (if you'll excuse the photo quality... it's still dark)

Aaah, good to know! I think mine is flat-out not fully seated, then. (Maybe Azone never bothered to read Obitsu's instructions. )

Ta! Now I've got it for easy reference when Homura Fixing Day finally comes.

Speaking of ankles is it me or are the ankles the weak point of the obitsu50 .. or rather the foot to ankle connection area where the feet screw in? They seem to crack and then you get helicopter feet... Nemu and Asseylum both arrived with them "pre-broken" .. I've pretty much made it a habit to just ziptie them as soon as I get them out of the box now. I may look into making a foot base part that will reduce the leverage the foot has on the screw which causes it to tear out the treads...

It's not you, I agree--I think a big part of it is that the part that goes into the bulk of the foot is SO small, so it gets more sort of. . . shoved against the inside of the foot, rather than moving *with* the foot. And it seems even odder given how well engineered the rest of the body is. :/

All the screw in the bottom of the foot really does is hold the metal tab the magnet attaches to in place so the magnet is positively connected to the body. Without the magnets Obitsu could have skipped the screw and just made the foot vinyl friction fit over an armature as in the DD foot. There normally isn't a lot of stress on that screw. A loose ankle joint can be a real trouble maker when it comes to posing problems and there's a bolt and nut (not a screw into plastic) in the joint you can safely tighten up to fix that. Those screws in the bottom of the foot might get over tightened during assembly, which can lead to the hole in the bottom of the foot part stripping out when we users try to tighten it up just that little bit. It's the type of screw that cuts its own threads as it's turned in so it's very easy to damage the hole it goes into. Normally there is a little play (side to side) in the foot. It's probably safer to live with that rather than tightening that foot screw and stripping out the hole.

Ugh I agree this problem was the weakest parts on their body along with the hips joint, all my girls suffer this problem, the plastic where the screw screwed up already cracking and splitting the ring that hold the plastic and foot was kinda weak as well, they easily got cracked, luckily spareparts on parabox was not expensive, but I hope they fixed this problem.

Ugh... the foot is a major issue with my Saber. I have to unscrew them in order to use her boots, and now the boot feet won't stay on. Kind of sucks because now I can't put her in her armor. I should probably get a replacement set of ankles/feet and just permanently attach her boots to one, and her bare feet to the other.

 

I've also noticed that the shoulders tend to be a weak point; both Saber and Aiko, my 50cm Haruka, have broken shoulders. I really should put in an order for replacements at Parabox.

Just a heads up in case anyone wanted to buy an AZO2 G bust body by itself: Azone has been selling them in their webstore since last month. I've checked the product page a couple of times in the past few weeks and they were always in stock so it probably shouldn't be difficult for proxies to buy one. AZO2s pop up on Yahoo! Japan from time to time(sometimes for a bit cheaper) but at least you don't have to buy a fullset just for the body now.. as long as you want a G bust. I hope they also sell C and I busts too soon enough. ^^

As Galatia9 said, they do ship to the US of A (and world wide). If I remember correctly they only ship EMS (very fast with tracking). There is a minimum charge so that $20 part may cost you $20 in shipping. So make the most of that shipping charge and look over their site to see if there's anything else you may want/need/can't live without. They have option hand sets. If you ever think you might use a different head on that body, neck pieces are handy to have. It's much easier to swap the head and neck piece as one than to put a head on a neck piece. They have wigs and clothes and eyes...

And make sure you have that hair dryer around when you go to swap out that ankle. Heat those vinyl parts up real good so they soften up. The skeleton parts will much easier to remove with the vinyl softened.

Yup, I always other things to my orders. LOL! I've purchased elbow joints for several of my boys, and always add eyes or clothes or shoes to make it worth my while.

I really like the stardust Lilia I think it's called? But I like the one with dual colored eyes.. It's so pretty~~ I want an azone 50 myself but probably in the future~ Sometimes I'm surprised with the price azone sells them cause they come with painted eyes but they are still really cute and I definitely want one in the future ) Looking forward to see if they ever make an azone 50 male nevause thdu have the body already so all they would have to do is make a make head or character.. I hope eventually it will happen..~

Don't hold your breath waiting for a Azone male. Companies can get comfortable with an area they're familiar with and can be reluctant to stray from a formula that works.

The Azone bodies (60cm, 50cm, Azo2) are all made by Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing Co. and are based on the Obitsu 50cm body design. Other clients that use the Obitsu bodies are Yamato, Parabox, Angel Philia, and Visuadoll. If you're interested in a male to go with an Azone 50cm, there are several Visuadoll males that use the Obitsu 55cm and 65cm bodies.

Ooh that version of Lillia is pretty! I think that their price for their licensed character dolls can be kinda steep considering the painted eyes, but their original lines like the Happiness Clover and Black Raven series are generally much more tolerable, especially if they use the AZO2 body because that one is inherently more expensive/rare(and prettier imo xD) by itself compared to the standard obi bodies.

 

I think it's pretty unlikely that they'll make a 50cm male though, unfortunately.. Azone mainly(only?) uses standard Obitsu(48/50/60cm) or Azone-exclusive parts for their dolls, and the 50cm boy is technically a Parabox product. Maybe if they design/commission a boy body/parts themselves, or better yet if Obitsu updates their 55cm(and 60cm!) bodies.

 

Obitsu's 50th anniversary just passed yesterday apparently, so hopefully they have something nice planned in the coming year...

Another Nanaka (already!) doll, Pure Whip Nanaka, is coming soon. Nanaka has a baker theme this time.

 

Reservations start Dec. 15th, release in late January.

I'm kinda surprised that Nanaka is getting another release already. I expected Moka would be next instead.

It looks like Mirei has (finally) been released though! The Nagoya Azone shop has an image on their blog.

 

So her natural skin tone does look the same as in the 1/6 scale. I wish they were able to stick to the original release schedule so I might've been able to see it in person at their Akiba shop but oh well..

 

I was kinda conflicted on whether I want to get her or wait for another natural AZO2 to come, but lately I've been feeling more courageous about yolo-ing a dye project. My girl originally started off as a natural/fleshtone 1/6 obitsu so I was pretty excited for this release. She eventually became more and more tan though so it may not be the best fit anymore. xD
