Azone 50's anyone?

I'm curious, do they ever sell the head that they use for Iris Collect Petit separately/blank, or does it always come with the full set doll? If they don't, is there a head that's a close match to the Iris Collect Petit dolls? I saw a previous exclusive ICP doll and was really charmed by her sweet face. (This one)

I don’t think they do, but Dollce's heads look kinda similar (to me, at least).

Unfortunately not. I feel that the DDH-27 heads are a pretty close fit, but if you want a head that's directly compatible without tweaks, you're best trying to do an order split on a fullset.

After a few meh months, they did a huge drop for this month. Of particular note are the two winter uniforms that were previously only available in fullsets but are now sold a la carte.

They're quite nice if you've been looking for a more stylish designed uniform and in longer lengths than the typical ones. Keep in mind that the uniforms run big since they target the larger girls.

Besides that, they dropped a bunch of casual clothes.

 

December drop is a fleece vest, a re-issue of the scarf + phone set from before and a new skirt color.

Obitsu is finally giving us wrist joints that rotate like Volks's does, the hip joint looks easier to put the legs onto (and more sturdy) than the older version, the shoulder is getting a reinforcement, and it looks like the ankles just got completely redone. I was planning to buy Winter Date Kano, but after seeing that she apparently has the "super white" skin that Parabox doesn't sell parts in, I've been worried. I can't even find hands in that color, let alone frame parts. If she uses the old frame (likely) is there anything I can do to try to prevent cracking/breaking/helicopter ankles? If not, have most of the issues the frames have at least been fixable with some super glue?

No dolls use it yet to my knowledge. The latest Azone doll (Kaguya) is still using the old O50 body.

While Azone may upgrade to the new inner skeleton down the line, it's less clear if their dolls will adopt the same outer skin since it overlaps with the AZO2 body.

The breaks can be mitigated with super glue, but it's not a permanent fix. The best precaution is to treat the joint with care. Always support the shoulder joint with two hands when posing and dressing, and treat the ankles with care when working with socks and tighter shoes.

Never tug on the sock without first pulling the upper part down to the foot first.

I haven't had any more breaks ever since then.

While Obitsu doesn’t seem to sell the frame parts in super whitey, they do sell the shells, including all the hand parts.

If you’re going to have her wearing boots/socks most of the time, then you can just replace the ankle parts with ones in whitey. Same goes for the internal frame parts. It’s only an issue if it’s going to be visible, but the parts that break the most tend to be hidden by the vinyl shells. The ankles are unfortunately prone to breaking and are very visible, sadly.

Oh thank you for the links! Unfortunately it looks like the super whitey hands are still out of stock. I wonder if MDD semi-white hands would work instead? And if the large ver. or normal ver. would be better for the obitsu body?

Upon further investigation, it appears that some people say you can take the part that breaks on the ankle off the replacement ankles and attach them to the old ones. This is reassuring, although if I had to, I wouldn't mind having to replace the whole ankle and just keep her in socks if needed. It sounds like I can get little zip ties and put them around the shoulders, hips, and ankles where they crack as a makeshift reinforcement part, so I will probably do that when I get her.

The only thing that still concerns me a bit about the new skintone is yellowing. Has anyone with other super white obitsus experienced this badly? I worry that the differences between the joints and the outer shell will be super noticeable due to yellowing or the vinyl will yellow faster due to the lighter skintone. It seems like a skin-match with Volks DD semi-white vinyl though, which doesn't seem to yellow too badly, but the manufacturing might play a large role in that.

I don’t know if MDD hands would work because they’re meant to look very child-like while the AZO2 bodies are very mature. Hopefully someone who has both can weigh in, but it’s something to keep in mind.

In my experience, the ankles snap when you tighten the screws in the feet too much. I mentioned this in another thread, but you’re literally screwing into plastic (there is no metal thread for ‘grip’), and if you overdo it, it cracks the plastic casing, resulting in a loose foot.

You’ll understand when you see it yourself, but I don’t think it will be possible to reinforce with a zip tie. The part that’s prone to breaking is very thin and the actual breakage occurs on the bottom, making it hard to prevent. You’ll have to be very careful not to overtighten the screws in the feet. My advice is that once it starts to feel tight, stop screwing.

Indeed! If only the tightening ring cracks, you can swap that out with one of any color. If you manage to strip the plastic socket where the screw goes, you'll have to swap out the whole joint.

Good to know! I've seen some people in the thread say that the screw already comes pretty tight, do you happen to know if it would be recommended to loosen it up a bit? Or is it better to not touch it at all unless absolutely necessary to prevent stripping?

I thought I saw in the early thread someone saying that they zip tie the ankles now as soon as they get them with a super thin tie, but now I'm wondering if the zip ties would be too big for the joints, or could make them too tight...

As for the skintone, I found out that Angel Philia Elle/Ellie (and some other APs) has had a super white skin release and I haven't really heard any complaints about extreme yellowing on her or anything, so hopefully that shouldn't be a huge issue!

The screw may naturally loosen up as you work with the doll and in my experience, will need to be tightened from time to time. Loosening the screw on purpose will put the ankle at more risk of breaking when dressing in socks and shoes. When tightening it, stop as soon as it gives resistance.

I've personally not needed to tighten the screws in my Obitsu bodied dolls, but then I don't re-pose them daily but only when I'm redressing them or taking pictures. I suppose it depends on how much you move them. Some of the tension collars will still randomly break while they're sitting still too though. I do have one super whitey body but I've only had it for about a year and a half. In that time it hasn't changed color.

Sorry for the terrible pics, but my Kano arrived way earlier than expected! I think I'll call her Kino since I couldn't tell the difference between the Azone Kano and Rino models for a long time. I couldn't decide whether to keep her in the default wig or the new lighter one I got...

 

I was super impressed with the obitsu/azo2 body! I think I prefer it over Dollfie Dreams tbh, they're much smoother to pose and move than I expected. The only issue I had was that her hands popped out of their sockets a couple times when trying to pose them and it scared the crap out of me lol. Thankfully they just pop right back in. Also, I wasn't expecting the I-bust to be this HUGE. I'm considering buying an obitsu L-bust and trying to jam it on her, but I can only find the super whitey bust on ebay for $53 which seems pretty expensive...I may have to try to find a proxy service instead.

EDIT: By the way, I was thinking of getting a DDP semi white partial bodysuit as well (not the one that covers the arms) and was wondering whether or not it would make it past her hips (I already know it's not going over her bust lol I just want protective tights for her). Does anyone happen to know if those bodysuits are stretchy enough to fit the AZO2 hips?

I had my eye on Winter Date Kano for a while now. I think she looks stunning, which is why I was a little surprised that no one really seems to talk about her. I've kind of given up on her myself tbh. She's much more affordable than a DD, but space is a very limiting factor for me currently haha. Hearing that you prefer the body over DD's.. is kind of making me curious though. Surely, surely, I could fit one more doll..?

Warning for incoming doll nudity, but I was able to get the Obitsu L bust for my Kano! It went on perfectly, although I had a little issue trying to figure out how the neck piece works. You can see the difference of bust size with the bra, it's basically hanging off her! I'll have to take it in later. I'll also have to double post due to the photo mb limit (why do they come out so large 😭)

 

 

Here she is in the original outfit with the L bust and no bra. I think the original i-bust + bra + sweater added too much bulk to her upper body and made her look really top heavy. I much prefer the current look and think it's more proportionate.

Also, here she is in a MDD dress because I was curious about the fit. I think it works as a babydoll style dress and tbh I kinda like it. However the shoes are 1/4 size ones from Alice's Collections and they BARELY fit. I don't know if her feet actually got fully in them, but I was too worried about breaking with her ankles to try to fit them in anymore. It's weird because I held up her feet and shoes to my 1/4 Tinyfox doll's and they looked like the same size, but she won't fit in any other 1/4 size shoes I have🤔. I ended up ordering some AZO2 specific clothes and shoes off of Hobby Search (as well as some Azone 45cm ones...the bargain sales got the best of me) so those should fit better at least. Her default shoes are really flimsy and crappy btw, the back and straps are just thin fabric 😅

ALSO! I ordered some MDD large hands to see if they'll fit, since the obitsu super whitey hands are sold out. Unfortunately, there were no DDP body stockings, and the full bodysuits for that size were sold out in semi-white, so 😐.

And I still can't decide on if I should call her Kino or Rina tbh, any suggestions?

She is a really quick release, having gone on pre-order Dec. 7, with a release of Dec. 23, 2022.

As I'm a big fan of Akino's work (NarcisseNoir), I put in an order.  Hobby Search still has her available (both colors), Fabric Friends too, and Azonet only has the red version still available.

Also, the mdd large hands arrived today and I tried them on my Kano. I only wanted closed-fist hands and the obitsu super whitey handsets are only on the Obitsu shop and are currently sold out, so I wanted to try an alternative. They look a little out of scale (they have a slightly chubby look to them) and the sws is slightly darker than the super whitey skin, so while they're not perfect I think they'll have to do.

Weirdly, the hand on the left fits perfectly but the hand on the right only stays on if the square part inside is perpendicular to the hand itself. So, when trying to reposition the hands it falls off a lot. It's because the hand holes appear to be different sizes, which I don't know if that's normal or not?

I ordered the Blue delphinium version.  Waiting on shipment, as she's already arrived at the Azone Shops in Japan!  Dec. 25th release in Japan.

As for any soft vinyl hands, the fit varies a lot depending upon the trim and vinyl thickness.  I'm pretty sure they're still largely handmade (soft vinyl casting & manual trimming), resulting in a good bit of variance, but they should at least stay on the intended type of wrist joints they're made for.  Sometimes if a hand is way too tight, I may trim the inside a tiny bit.  So perhaps if you bought a duplicate pack of hands, the fit could be different-- but it's a big gamble when you're using it on a different type of wrist joint.

I'm in the same boat-- waiting for the day Obitsu restocks their super whitey hands...
