Azone 50's anyone?

Hi! I'm reviving this thread! 

Just ordered My Sweet Girl Kureha from the Happiness Clover 🍀 line. I read through the full thread, but I was wondering if I could have a more definitive answer on what clothing they wear. Some are saying DD or DDS and others are saying MDD. So I just want to know what is the best fit for the AZ02 body. Specifically one with the G bust. Any advice on shoes would be appreciated as well ☺️

I don’t think MDD clothing will fit the G bust. DD clothing is more likely to fit but will generally be hit or miss because DDs are about 10cm taller than Obitsu/AZO2 bodies. Shirts with long sleeves and pants will be too long, but dresses and skirts will likely work. Check out @chef_mai’s clothing threads for more info.

Edit: MDD shoes generally fit Obitsu feet. Shoes made for Mochi-Ashi and DD or larger will not fit (unless they’re boots and you don’t mind the cartoony clown feet look—I personally don’t mind it, but it does bother some people).

My clothing review thread provides some specifics, but in short, you're best off with Azone's AZO2 clothes and some of their regular 50cm clothes.

Some DD/DDS short-sleeved tops will fit, if they're made for the S/M busts. Dresses and some skirts will work, but they'll run longer than they were designed for. If you got a 50cm girl, it'll look a lot better on her than it does on a 48cm one.

MDD clothes won't work because it'll either be too tight around the bust, won't slip up the legs or the sleeves will be too short.

For shoes, every pair of Volks MDD shoes I own fit really well. I can't speak for third party MDD shoes.

If you have something specific in mind, I can make a guess at how well it might fit. None of my girls are on large busts, but I've still got one here I can test with.

One of my grails came home this week, and Lilia finally has a friend~

Introducing Black Raven Night of the Fascination Cecily, whom I've renamed Remora. Her skin tone is stunning and compliments her face up perfectly. Her eyebrows are blue like the skirt she's wearing.

Her fullest was a lot more impressive than I was expecting, Lilia is wearing her boots and I have plans for all her other pieces for my other girls. However I wanted her to compliment Lilia's aesthetic so I put her in Ayune's Wabi-Sabi Maid outfit.

@Veravey Grail alert! She's stunning! I can see why she was on your list. Congratulations! She fills out the Wabi-Sabi maid outfit well. It's the perfect shade to jump against that jet-black hair.

It's been quite a long time since 45/AZO2 got new clothes, but they announced some today.

Those skirts are the exact same ones they released in 1/6 scale last year, just bigger. It’s so lazy of them to reuse designs like this, but I’m probably still gonna buy one 😅

The bear room-wear set is adorbs tho.

It's unlikely at this point, but I'm hoping they still occasionally release non-AZO2 clothing. A lot of these recent releases won't fit great or at all on a 48/50, and the 45cm stuff, while a bit closer to what they used to release, would be a no go for long sleeves.

Tbh I’m getting the impression that Azone is running out of ideas and is mostly just recycling old outfits nowadays anyway. I realize it’s hard to come up with new stuff so often, but maybe that’s a sign they need to slow down?

Ugh, they're re-releasing existing outfits at significantly higher cost now (the same seifuku I got for 3600 last year). I get there's inflation, but this is now exceeding Volks, and the material quality's nowhere near the same.

(Admittedly, the clothes fit Azone/AP/Obitsu the best by far, so there's not like there's a choice...)

For that amount of money I would rather buy from Volks, it's almost the same price. I thought Azone was suppose to be more affordable.

Maybe that was true of their casual stuff, but honestly I’ve always thought their “nicer” stuff was lower quality at around the same price point as Volks.

Volks’ Spring Magic Girl (one of my favourite outfits of all time, and the one that got me interested in them as a company) is around ¥7,000 while Azone’s Tea Time Dress Set  (not nearly as nice, but nicer than most of their offerings) is ¥9,200 😐 

Azone’s Sweet Sailor One-piece (another outfit I like but which is not on par with Volks quality) is ¥11,000 😕

Wow, that's really frustrating 😕 I kind of see Azone clothes as being a little bit cheap, so seeing prices jump up like that.... LOL

To be fair, while I sent off the venting, the reality's still that Azone clothes get significantly discounted (new) if you buy from the right places.

AmiAmi takes off 15-20% upfront, and it isn't that long before they send them to the sale rack where they get chopped up to 50%.

To my knowledge, Volks clothes never/rarely go on sale, and they only keep some of the styles around whereas Azone keeps a larger core selection going. 

Azone skipped a few months but is back with something new for the little ones and brought back a really popular seifuku that's fetched a lot on the secondary market. I'm really glad they restocked that one.

Azone put out a pretty good show this week!

Their best bits lately have been the collab dolls they've done with Poe-Poe. It's a shame they don't sell the clothes alone since it's such a nice looking set.

Finally some fresh clothes that aren't rereleases. That denim one-piece set in particular looks great, but it probably won't fit Mai too well.

 

OK, they retreaded the turtleneck from last year and took the sleeves off.

 

I don't blame them for making more schoolgirl fullsets since they've sold well. Hopefully this seifuku gets sold separately since it'll sell like hotcakes.

The PoePoe girls are honestly so cute, I love the black version of the jacket it’s gorgeous! I feel like Azone mainly sells their super cute and beautiful clothing as fullsets and the clothing sold separately is less special 😭

I think Sumire is my grail Azone girl, and I'm hoping to bring her home someday. I love gentle smiles, especially in anime style sculpts, and I'd love to have her as part of my little vinyl family

Nabbed this quite a while back and piggybacked it on some non-doll stuff. Fits the best of any Azone uniform I've gotten for Mai, and the design & material quality are a notch above recent Azone outfits.

It comes with a blue ribbon, but you can easily swap it out for a scarf.

Unlike their other uniforms where it's a mix of buttons and velcro on the back, this uses a side-zipper like a real seifuku (?), so the fit can be a lot more exact. This comes with a huge downside that wasn't apparent in pictures... getting it on is a huge pain since it either has to go up the top or the bottom.

If that doesn't deter you, this is Azone's best looking summer seifuku (better than the 50cm or older AZO2 versions), and it's a rare case where I see a fair bit of JP users putting it on DD/DDS since to my knowledge, Volks hasn't made a summer seifuku in quite some time.

They often do sell the outfits separately, but sometimes they’re limited to in-store sales, making them difficult to get outside of Japan. Uyuri’s ballerina outfit from like six months back was recently released standalone, so it just takes a bit of time.

Azone dropped some new stuff this week.

Azone has occasionally sold AZO2 parts a la carte in store before, but they've finally decided to sell all parts officially directly from their online store.

I really love their bodies sculpt! Does anyone knows if they sell the AZO2 bodies alone? I could only find full dolls for sale

The new Iris Collect Petites are announced and they're adorable! They're the "FuwaFuwa Sweet Cats" and look absolutely precious. I really love the Uyuri sculpt! I'm not completely sold on the normal obitsu 45 body yet but their faces are so cute I feel like I'm gonna end up converted anyway

Also btw, my Happy Sunny Day Noix arrived recently and I noticed something interesting! One of my biggest beefs with my Winter Date Kano (besides the skintone with no widely available spare parts) was that her wrists kept falling out of her arms with the slightest touch, however it seems like they made the wrists longer on the newer releases? Here's a comparison between Happy Sunny Day Noix and Fortune Patisserie Sumire's default hands:

My Noix's wrists don't fall out at all now! They're still easy to remove but they definitely feel like they're attached firmer in her arm sockets. On the flip side, it seems that in exchange they've gotten rid of the included magnet stands now. I guess that isn't the worst thing in the world, since they can barely use them if wearing their shoes, but it's still a bit disappointing. I wish obitsu would start selling the larger wrist pegs on their own (or at least make the hands more flexible and easier to change out), since the ones that I bought from Parabox shortly after Noix's arrival were the same size as Sumire's/Kano's.
