I would totally be into a doll like that minus the superhero outfit. Not much of a batman fan (aside from enjoying the really camp old TV series) but I love the way her face is painted! Like 10/10 would buy a plain doll like that.

I would say I'd be up for a split if someone wanted only the outfit. But she's so pretty, I don't see that ever happening. XD

Cape looks stiff. Like she washed it in pure starch.

I like the outfit but I am not interest in a split for the price she is going to be. I think as a whole I am going to sit the DC girls out. (Unless a Wonder Woman looks flawless)

Not sure she screams "Babs Gordon" to me, but I do like that they at least tried to make her look less generic with the smirk? (Even if I'm not sure they pulled it off?)

Batgirl is the only DC character in the line that I could actually see wearing Danny's denim/practical/utilitarian-type style; outfit gives off a more conservative version of the DC Bombshells line vibe imo. It'll be...interesting to see how Wonder Woman and Harley* turn out if he insists on going with the denim style for all of them.

*not sure Harley's actually ever been confirmed, but most likely next character...actually, wasn't there a Power Girl at some point too? Is her outfit gonna be all-white denim? Wouldn't that look weird?

Oh, I hope not. Harley is NOT a denim girl. Not not not. She's leather, latex, baseball bats, and luxury purses.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I love the newer look starting with Suicide Squad, as well as the Birds of Prey looks. The only denim I could see there would be frayed, worn jean shorts with dangling strings/fringe. But the jacket HAS to be leather(ish - I'm not totally crazy).

I have a collection of previews photos. The power girl outfit looks like it’s not denim, but he could always change his mind. Also he has another girl wearing the bat girl mask on a desk.

The Batgirl page is up now, but no price. It also has a line about the accessories might change. So maybe a  batarang.

Honestly, most of the hate I saw being dished out was coming from from the twitter accounts of known misogynists who were enraged that Harley wasn’t being portrayed as a total sex-bomb.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

Odd choice to use denim, given the notes on the the artist made when designing this Batgirl costume.

For the likely price, I'd rather see an accurate costume in style and material.  Oh, speaking of, the bat symbol on the jacket should have the zipper cutting through it.

I think I can understand them not using pleather.

I recently purchased the Volks Punk Stripe Set (2011) which includes a pleather skirt, choker, and belt, fully prepared for the possibility that the leather bits would be disintegrating, and to my pleasant surprise they weren’t. I also bought their Raspberry Bustier Set (2013), which bizarrely includes a pleather thong for underwear, and the thong was disintegrating. It’s just so hit and miss with pleather stuff, although to be fair age can ruin leather too if it isn’t properly cared for.

Mind you, I could give two sheeps about that thong.

I can't disagree with you on this, I tossed the jacket from my Azone Shiki recently, the faux leather was falling apart.  Still, denim is a poor substitute for leather.

Agreed, and in general I am pretty strict about a character doll looking like the character in terms of face and outfit. I know to some extent these things will be interpretive, and they need to obey the laws of physics, but IMO they should endeavor to be as true to the character design as possible.

I'm not loving the solid plastic pouches on the belt (and also the gloves). They kind of look like carved blocks of cheese to me...
If they were weathered like the rest of the outfit it probably wouldn't bother me as much.

The solid plastic parts remind me of mass produced playline toys for children. I guess he has been in the the direction of advertising to children though...

Since this comes with more stuff than Supergirl, I'm terrified of what the MSRP will be.

I'll say she's going to cost far more than Supergirl. Maybe 150,000 to 170,000 because of all those accessories and reuse... I mean completely original items

Completely agree about the plastic pouches, that was pretty much the first thing I noticed. It really doesn't speak to the quality the price will most likely want you to think is there. Even just painting them to look like more than just a solid color would have been good.

Despite the little gripes, I do think she looks better than Super Girl. The faded denim look works better on this kind of outfit and character.

Maybe it's the geek in me, but I actually really like the pouches...maybe not with the rest of the outfit, and definitely not for the price Choo would sell them for separately, but I would totally buy something similar for a reasonable price off etsy or whatever.

I am too not liking the denim look. Feels too much like the 80's. The comment about the spandex vs leather was more to tell the artists to actually draw her in clothes - not have the "painted on clothes" look that is often attributed to "superhero spandex" costumes. So not a fan of the material being used. Does denim stain less than other materials they could have used in a darker color?

Which oddly enough. I feel that Power Girl's outfit looks really...baggy in that photo. She was drawn to be a bit more.. boisterous in her outfit. I mean the artist purposely created a boob window in her outfit and slowly enlarged it over his comic years to see what he could get away with.

As far as other lineups oddly enough I think some choices should be either Bumblebee or Vixen - given that he could have more leeway in what outfits to choose (Personally I love the Black and Gold Iteration of Vixen's suit bottom right)

Vixen.jpg

Bumblebee has different ranges of outfits, but it would be fun to see a mix of any of them with her googles back. She can have the afropuffs pigtails to that curly hair with the gold stripe or a mix of both. I can see more leeway in getting creative with her. (Like the fan design which mixes a lot of elements in various interpretations of her outfits). Bumblebee even has a cheerleader outfit which would be fun to have on the side (though I will freely admit being scared of the running price considering CJ).

I like it too, even cosplay her a few times
I would hate to see her in denim
She was always my fav DC girl, and I wish I wouldnt be bitter about Danny's Choises but seeing the other 2 girls, I am a little skeptical

Welp, a local collector very kindly allowed me to compare a Smart Doll and a Volks DDP doll, and it sounds like I am the kind of customer Mr. C does not want - I want as much mobility as possible, I like to take my dolls apart and swap out pieces, I love hybridization, and I love modding dolls in general. I'm also not loyal to any particular brand.

So even if Mirai Inc. were to make a Harley Quinn, I've been counseled not to buy one. Not from Mr. C anyway. *shrug* Which is fine. I'll just make my own version.

Just a question a little off the topic DC but since we are talking about the prices

Danny said he will not but if he ever were to release Shionne from tales of Araise (omg I saw her yesterday with the seiyuu, so pretty) how much would cost? If Supergirl is so expensive.. with armor and the huge dress .... I am afraid I would want her but never ever being able to buy it

I can’t really estimate the price from Danny, but from Volks that’s an ¥85,000 - ¥95,000 doll. Given the Supergirl price and materials, I would think Danny’s version would be much more expensive, but it might use metal armor parts instead of plastic or vinyl.

If Shionne was put into production, I'd buy her in a heartbeat. Based on the DC collab prices, if it ever happens, I'd say plan for at least ~$1,500-2,000?

I completely missed the Super Girl release so I had not seen the prices but BIG OOF.

Looking at this I am glad that I was not interested in the collar from the start because random release drop + that price is more that I can handle. I entertained vague thoughts of maybe getting one of the DC girls if their face-up appealed to me. But the random drops already make that impossible, and for this price it is a hard pass anyway.

Shionne... I would love a smart doll version of her. But if the price range is going to be the same I'll assign that budget to making my own version, thanks.
