JRuzzy Posted January 29, 2012 Ok so this girl is fast becoming the only one i want to make clothing for now! So I riffled through my fabric stash in search of inspiration, I have been thinking i would like to make her a Parka Coat, so i first found the faux sheepskin for the hood lining, then i sat it against an array of different fabrics till i settled for a bright girly floral. The pattern is my own and it took me around 10 hours to make, It has real drawstrings made from baby pink chiffon rouleaux with pink beads and is fully lined. I'm really happy with it! Yes you are right the hood is snug, originally it was going to be bigger but it was so out of proportion to the coat i decided to make it smaller, also i don't think i would have the hood up much anyways and it was always more to do with styling really. I can understand the proportion issues, I have a Nine9Style hoodie that has a HUGE hood so it fits nicely when it's up but it can look a bit silly when it's down (luckily it's drawstring!) I think you'll be able to have a lot of fun with the styling on a peacoat because there's SUCH a variety and they can come in some amazing colours! I vote for a beautiful green!!!
