Mixed nuts XVI -- Summertime blues...

Its going to be a bit of a slow start for this batch, since after trying to get it all together for photos in a two week period, the whole thing was pretty much put on hold as the model decided to break in two, as per traditional mk1 MDD fashion ... and with the fashion in question, this was pretty much it, as it all came unraveled.

anyhoo... the star of the first batch is Maria, who after sitting three years in a corner of my room, just being cute and all was reluctantly put into the rotation... I was trying to figure out what to put her into, as my MDD collection of stuff isnt that grand, and most of it is more suitable for autumn and winter moments... but then I found a old Yukata from the early days of my collecting, which I havent featured with the Nikon at least...

I also moved quarters from my photo-dungeon to my livingroom to be able to use the Big-Light (tm), only to be reminded that Maria's eyes arent really suited for this kind of lighting, as they are almost as bad as Nanoha's defaults... and me without a proper reflector to try and make the best of the situation... oh well...

Despite the white-balance preset, the photo's seem to be tinged a bit on the red side, hence her hair ended up being more ... carrot-like.

Something Familiar, but quite not...

The next photoset is pretty much possible due to finishing one 3D printing project that had the theme of Wifi-antennaes... Also my Lulu who had been waiting for a proper photoset since '17...

So as a concept I ended up with a bit of a upgrade of sorts to an old anime character, which I humoristically gave the designition HMX-12LTS as I use LTS builds of ubuntu for old clonker computers...

The framing is a bit weird in the HMX-17 Maid-Robot outfit pictures, since I was going for a bit of a brochure look with room for possible sales blurbs.. and naturally I had to have a go with the actual school uniform, the posing is probably a bit un-character like, but it is a sort of upgrade after all...

The shoes go a bit awry with my paint it black photo-dungeon setting, but the lighter caramel colored loafter I had planned were way too loose for any kind of posing, so the end result is what it is... but I dont actually care, since Im pretty much chuffed to bits with some of these.

To cinderella or not...

 

This lyric photo idea became a bit of a itch I wanted to scratch after one thing snoballed into a bit of an avalanche of things idolmaster.

The translation is not a rigid word for word one, since in my opinion there was a bit of re-pourposed english in there, that while yes, you could use as such, but would have made for some awkward wording. just rather trying to convey the meaning as best as I could...

only cinderella girl in my collection is naturally ranko, so she got a bit of a head start as a model for it...

(As a personal note, I do prefer Kaede's version of this song, since Ranko's performance is a bit too much ... Rikka in nature to explain it best. Kirari does it in a simliar way, but Kirari gets away with it by being Kirari.)

To counter the whole aspirational thing, there was this:

as in sometimes you're just a girl who tripped and lost a shoe... I had imagined a whole lot of things, like a moon in the distance (which I probably could have done practically with a knick-knack ornamental moonlight I saw in a store awhile back.) that would have a faint clockface on it that read one past midnight... but too much effort, and the photo looked nice enough as was.

This time its a bit of a unusual set, since Shino was only just recently featured.

But I was left wondering that didnt I have near enough bits for a certain character concept in stock... and well, shino turned out to be one of those bits, with her eyelashes and amber eyes... for the outfit I originally was going to use Moe's second edition set, but that turned out to be a bit nasty in terms of wanting to stain stuff (yay for pink and black arm bits), so for a suitably gal-like setting the rest of the sparkling down set was taken back out of the bag.

the mug prop was also thrown into the mix, and the DD2 wersaze-mod wrists take care of most of the peculiar posing.

Discount harvest deity...

Another little idea that I've had for the longest time is take a certain ear/wig/tail combo out for a few photos during harvest season, but it never really happened, untill today when in the morning it was a clear blue sky, and I finally got my stuff together for an outing ... only to notice the skies were peppered with dark grey clouds, and no sunshine in sight ... typical...

This meant that I couldnt quite use as small an aperture I would have liked, thus ended up with a very shallow depth of field, though that does hide the power lines going in the background quite well as a positive...

Also the field is growing oat, and not wheat as it should for the concept ... but eh ... what can you do if your folks specialize in the stuff...

As a bit of a diversion of usual stuff, for science I took some of the same shots with the camera in the full automatic setting to see how they would look (also as a backup if my manual settings had been totally out of whack...)

i've my own treatment on her, in comparatively minuscule 1/6. a late-90's/modern day VOLKS/OBITSU hybrid;

well, the end result of the fanfic concept based on what I could find in terms of wig and outfit is supposed to be Multi, but in a way that she could exist in the TH2 universe, as a sort of revival project, because older generation of HMX, the Ilfa 17-series being the main personality program test bench in TH2, etc.... and also original Multi's degradation if you want to include Remember my memories, which I dont think is official canon though.

as for an actual TH1 multi, Its still going to be the same answer as I gave in the 3D prints section, for which I'd need the wig, and uniform, that I might get or make one day, but at the moment those arent in the cards.

Lulu's antenna ears are FABULOUS! 

and your pictures are so beautiful and bright, I don't know how long I stared at Maria's kimono because it was so vibrant!

Though the brightness is a bit of camera trickery I guess... Maria despite having a lush color was photographed on a very grey cloudy day, and I got lucky with the camera settings with that, and it does make the yukata pop quite a bit.

besides dumb luck its just picking my favorite of different exposure steps, and how my three desktop lamps want to co-operate ... annoyingly I do have a decent set of studio lights, but I seem to get better results with cheap and nasty solutions.

Thanks, though the discount bit (while Holo does drive a hard bargain) is something I've stolen from somewhere else to go with the closet cosplay challenge thing, where the end result is sort of there, but not quite ... in this case the Sujin ears are way too big for instance, but time crunch is time crunch to even try to make better one's

The end photos were surprisingly good considering their straight off the camera ...
