If Volks were to do that for Y’shtola buyers, I’d think they won’t do it until sometime after the pre-order period is over. Basically, only once it’s too late to buy tan parts then change your mind and cancel the pre-order. Delivery is the most likely time since that’s kind of their standard for after sale options, but I wonder where that will leave online buyers?

Its also possible they will only offer hands. 

I wasn’t thinking for Y’shtola buyers specifically though. It’s likely the upcoming Dcoord lottery will have tan dolls so it would be nice if GL had the opportunity to buy parts online along with the other exclusive Akiba parts like heart hands, even if only a couple times a year.

Even once a year would be an improvement.

I was thinking more along the lines of how SD have order forms for option outfits, and sometimes hands and flat feet. With DD those order forms are unnecessary, the option outfits get sold online and option parts can be ordered anytime they are in stock. This is the first tan pre-order, and I think only the second tan limited doll. She’s $1000, and you can’t buy option parts or replacement frame parts in her color. The first one wasn’t even the same tan as the Dollpoint tan. 

I’m really hoping that this is the start of tan making it to a more open market, but it’s always possible she’s tan because SE said tan and Volks isn’t going to change tan from a Dollpoint exclusive just because SE wanted this character made that way.

One other possibility is that they sold a lot of tan internationally last year, and it was too much to ignore the potential market, so now they are open to tan showing up in more offerings  

It would also tweak Danny’s nose a bit  and that might be worth the price of admission; especially if Volks tan is capable of hybridization with his tea.

They were available online at some point? that gives me hope they will be again. I bought Y'shtola and basically decided that tan options parts would be a problem for future me to solve.

I fully intend to *somehow* get hold of some tan hands and possibly an S bust (although that probably means no more neck tattoos if I swap the bust).

I think Volks Tan is still a good deal lighter than Culture Japan's Tea. Maybe you could make a face or hands work with lots of blushing, but I'm not sure. This topic has some pretty good comparisons: 

 

A once-a-year (unlimited) pre-order for option parts in all skin tones would be nice. 

@Wasabi Last year, most of the physical Volks stores including Doll Point Akihabara were closed due to the lockdowns and that was around the time they started that ‘your hobby is always here for you’ campaign to encourage having hobby fun at home…and also shopping at the online store. Off the top of my head one of the main things I remember was getting discount vouchers with value depending on how much you spent (i think it was 1000 yen per 10,000 yen spent) and putting the limited items only available at Akiba Doll Point on the online store (tan parts, heart hands, some wigs) for a limited time - because there was no other way to get them when the store itself was indefinitely closed. During that period I got the flat L bust in tan.

I hope if there’s a next time it won’t be because the physical store had to close indefinitely, though.

Ah... yeah. While I do hope that those parts become available online from time to time, let's hope it is under better circumstances.

so I tried today to order Y'Shtola via paypal layaway from the SE Store. It didn't give me the option to choose layaway. Where am I wrong? Could someone help me? 😕

 

to be more specific:

The page doesn't redirect me to paypal before I push "confirm purchase" button. SE tells me I can't cancel the order after confirming the purchase. (Is this even legal in germany?)
I wish I could confirm the paypment with paypal BEFORE confirming the order - or if I back out with paypal the order will be canceled? (if layaway is no option via paypal)

I don’t know how the SE store works specifically, but I would expect that the process should be like this:

You press confirm purchase, then you get sent to PayPal to make your payment, then you get sent back to SE and at that point the purchase is confirmed. If you don’t complete the payment step, then the order process is canceled. Some vendors even have a final confirmation button after the PayPal step.

Most stores work that way unless you prelink your PayPal to their store account. In that scenario pressing confirm purchase completes the payment with your default payment method, but it requires special setup ahead of time to link the two accounts.

It makes little sense to me that SE would treat the purchase as confirmed before you pay them. Too many people would make reservations and then never give them the money. I can’t swear to that though because I never shop at SE. Hopefully someone who bought her from SE can shed more light on this. 

I believe layaway requires that you sign up for PayPal credit first. When you do layaway the vendor gets paid in full at the time of purchase and you’re making payments to PayPal. 

I got directed to Paypal after confirming the order. But my account was new and not linked with my paypal.

My problem is I already spent most of my PP credit on other stuff, so I have to pay some off before I can use it for her.

Thank you for your answer. This scenario is what I expect, but the amount of the doll is just too much for me to try it out haha. I think Victoria can help me, since she is from germany aswell.

About 30-35 years ago, I used to have my hair down to the small of my back. My wife at the time would braid it and add leather strips with beads and conchos, (small silver ovals or discs with engravings) both on the braid and clips behind my ears. (I have three earring holes in my left ear, btw) I can easily imagine Y'Shtola having feather clips in her hair for decorative/tribal(?) use... Might just be added to the wig, for example? 

When I was a kid I would put all kinds of stuff in my hair too, feathers (native american ancestry), fake mini braids, barrettes, etc. Like @battrastard said, the feathers she has are hair decoration, not earrings.

I’m pretty sure they’re attached to her hair. As they’re also not attached to her ears in game either. 

I see, I just assumed they were earrings because of their location, that makes more sense.

I'm so late to this news but I'm very excited to see this! 

I've always loved the art style of the Final Fantasy series. Unfortunately I don't have the means of obtaining this beautiful doll right now, but I'm encouraged just by her existence.

Knowing what I now know about Danny Choo and Smart Doll, I made the decision that although I've fallen in love with his semi realistic line of dolls, his business practices are just too erratic for me to trust. I was considering an Angel Philia since that its the closest to a half anime half realistic look I could get, but obtaining one seems a bit complicated.  

It's my hope that Volks will at least offer some semi-realistic options in the future that are more accessible. Y'shtola is beautifully done.

Maybe they're braided into her hair 

That would fit the aesthetic/theme of her outfit. She was given it in the last expansion after spending significant time in the Viera home, Rak'tika Greatwood. Not to say the Viera wear braids, their traditional clothing is mainly dark ornate armor, but citizens in the area adorn feathers, braids, and a more "bohemian forest" look.

This is me standing beside the person Y'Shtola spent a lot of time with as she was learning about the Greatwood and where she changed her outfit to the one on the doll.

@Veravey Are you the lalafell? So cute, I would love to see a Volks lalafell mochi-ashi. It's nice to learn some of the background behind her outfit, I had only seen her white outfit before this.

I absolutely agree! And if not, I'll like make my own custom or Tateru in her kimono to stand beside Y'Shtola.
