DD KAITO

Our Kaito should have arrived today but it's a public holiday. Hopefully he will arrive tomorrow.

We almost always have to pay import duties on anything shipped from Japan. This is 20% of the item's value plus a shipper's handling fee. Kaito's bill was £110. I don't think his outfit attracted import duties (assuming it's a separate package).

If you get this charge be sure to check the PDF invoice if you doubt it's genuine.

On a more serious note, we have no boy clothes so we will be scouring the clothing boutiques for something for him to wear. I'd love to style him as a character from Attack on Titan, although now I'm watching Death Note and that would be a possibility too.

Same with me. He is supposed to be deliver today, but I have him deliver to my PMB and the mailing place is close today because of Memorial Day. God willing I will get him tomorrow but I won’t be able to pick him until a later time that day or the following day

He got here today!!! I only kind of struggled with his little belt buckle clip but the rest of his outfit was surprisingly easy! He's gorgeous though in person!! I can't believe after 6 years in this hobby, DD Kaito is finally real

Etsy is a good place to find boys clothes. Just be cautious with things in SDGrB size, SDGrB is closer to SD16 Girl and SD16 girls tower over a DDB. SD17 & SD17GOU are going to be huge on him, those are too big even for SD16 Girls.

I don't know how well SD13 Boys, or SD boys will fit DD, but Nine9Style does carry SD13B clothing, it's nicely made & reasonably prices. If you ask, they may know if the fit is ok for DD.

I got charged 170 euro total in import fees my goodness. He's worth every penny though. Can't wait until I receive mine.

Still waiting on my boy! He's doing a pit stop in Cincinnati, hope he brings back a (good) souvenir!

I got my Kaito 😍 he is soooo adorable!!! but I'm kind of sad with his wig. I think I got a faulty one. The left side is good, the right size is not good. The hair was falling out and the wig cap can be seen.  I can only hide it with the mic piece but I wasn't going to use it since I'm not keeping the Kaito character. I wanted to use the blue wig though now I can only use the wig with the ear piece....what a bummer. I tried to fix it but to no avail. 

But I'm so in love with the doll itself. The face is so cute! 😍 I don't regret ordering him, he fits perfectly in my DD family! 

Ps: for DD boy clothes sometimes I buy the 1/3 girl size. The pants, jackets and shirts fit perfectly on DDS boys but the pants are a tad short (like 1") on the DDBs like Kaito but Smart doll female pants fit both sizes well. I find many SMD clothes on etsy. Alice's collections has almost all the male clothes section in 1/3 girl size. I also buy the shoes in 1/3 girl size. I personally buy for DD boys from TTYAcom on etsy, dollmore, Alice's collections, luts, issyandco (IG), nine9style, rrabit, tree design, Angell studio. If there are unisex clothes in girl sizes I buy the girl size but if not, I just but SD13 boys or SD boy size. Never buy SD17 and 70cm sizes! too big!! 

Having said that, 90% of my boys wardrobe is SD13 boy clothes. I like the baggy fit. If it's too baggy I use pins on the back.

If any part of the doll is faulty you can contact Volks about it using their contact form. They have been really good at replacing faulty full set items (and dolls/parts of dolls).

That's so nice to hear, thanks for letting me know. I will contact them now, hopefully they can send me a new one

Congratulations to all of you, he's so dang cute! 😭❤️ I'm still kicking myself so hard for convincing myself not to order him when he was up for sale because I said I collected enough dolls and wouldn't get into DD...haha...

I hope I can find him secondhand soon.

SD13B clothes will not fit either, at least based on Volks' outfit compatibility lists. The DD boys are basically the same size as an SS bust DD girl, so SD13 girl's clothing will probably be the best fit. Volks has some SD10 boy outfits that will fit Kaito, but I don't know anywhere else that has that specific size.

There's a DHL pickup point in my city, so I switched to getting him there. Hopefully he'll be there this morning when they open... The tracking site hasn't updated his status since the "Delivery could not be completed."

My Kaito is due to arrive on Thursday! 

I have some clothing that was made for my Luts/Cerberus Project Delf boy (resin BJD).  Since the (original) Delf boys are more slender than the SD13s, I'm hoping that clothing will fit Kaito better than the SD13 boy-sized clothing I also have.  Fortunately, I do have a pretty good variety of boy clothes to try out on him, from several different vendors. 

Kaito arrived and he's my first DD boy. First impressions... I'm kind of intrigued with his head sculpt. He's clearly a guy but I'm not certain how they sculpted him to look that way. I think a lot of it is in his mouth - which is HUGE compared to all the girls I have.

I like his thigh parts. The flat part on the back are very cool. The girls are *very* envious of his thigh parts.

His outfit looks pretty cool with a lot of details. I love the switches and the transparent plastic parts. There's definitely a wow factor like you'd get if you had ordered an original Miku. I thought at first he came with a battery, but then I realised it was the super strong magnet to hold his microphone in place.

I need to find him something to wear, but right now... oh dear. Having 17 sisters is both a blessing and a curse 😂.

So does anybody now have the entire lineup of vocaloids?

Typically the visual shorthand for anime guys in bishoujo styles is that (in comparison to girls) they have a longer head, smaller eyes (usually less tall vertically but wider horizontally), longer/more pronounced nose, less pointed chin, as well as the larger mouth. He’s a Volks doll so his face is still quite soft but Kaito seems to have those features so I think that’s probably why he reads as more masculine!

I just wanted to say that I'm very happy for you!  I remember you making your own Kaito from DDH07 many years ago and even mini Kaito 😍 I was so amazed at your work! I always loved your Kaito customs. Your custom boys are so cute and you're very talented. Finally you have default Kaito in your Kaito family!!

I was able to pick him up, and Kaito is now home! Here you can see him cuddling with @Griff's Meiko. 

He's very cute, which I expected, but his expression can also give off smug or mischievous vibes, like he knows just how cute he is. It reminds me of Miku, who can look sweet or sassy depending on the angle and styling.

Bear in mind that there are dozens of vocaloids beyond the six from Crypton Future Media that don't have official Dollfie Dream licensing deals.

 

But when Len comes in from his recent reissue, then I will have the Crypton lineup including Sakura and Yuki Miku. And now I need to figure out where to put them all.

 

Here's a video that includes the lineup from the first ten years of Vocaloids. This list is almost 9 years out of date...

My Kaitos were delivered today. I requested DHL deliver at a later date because I’m traveling but they delivered anyways. I have a friend on the way to save them.

I have all of the non-reboot versions.

I got my Kaito today. I won’t be able to open him until later tonight or tomorrow morning. Why he had to be deliver on my busy day

 

but I’m so happy knowing he made it home and didn’t got lost in transit
