Hello!

Hey all. I'm new to the hobby and am in the process of assembling my first 1/3 girl.

I was never into anime at all never had interest in figurines or dolls until about a year ago. I received my first (and only) figma for a game I devoted a lot of time to and was astounded by how flexible it was. At the same time, I wish it were a little bigger and could swap its outfits.

It got me curious about whether bigger figma existed, and that's when I came across DD for the first time. The anime aesthetic and the vast array of options made me seriously consider hopping in. Alas, the price was difficult to swallow, so I put it on the backburner for a while.

I returned to the idea this year when I decided to test the waters with a 1/6 Obitsu instead, which I also justified as a drawing aid if things didn't work out. Although there were some bumps along the way, I loved the process of turning my OC for my comic into a doll and am now putting together my first 1/3 girl, based on the same character. 

Others around me find this hobby weird, but I just see dolls as really large figurines with incredible customizability. Very expensive figurines but still figurines at heart.

What a nice way of discovering the dolls! As a gamer (and lover of figma's, though I don't have any myself) I'm really curious about what character this figma is and what game you devoted so much time to, if you want to share? 🙂

The price can indeed be a bit scary, but it's such a nice investment if it's something you're very into. Even if you just keep only one doll the possibilities with them are endless! The dressing up, the posing, ... I gotta say I definitely took a bigger interest in photography since I started collecting these dolls, too! It just goes to show all the ways they can keep you busy and how much fun they can be! It sounds like you already have many ideas! I'm really curious to see your character come to life in the form of a DD. What sculpt did you have in mind for your character?

I definitely know the feeling of people around you finding it a weird thing, but in the end it's your hobby and it needs to make you happy. And by the looks of it, it already does. That's all that matters!

Hi!! i've been into Anime and Manga hardcore since around 1995, and, only recently i've come to the point

where i feel i finally have merchandise of a caliber that leaves me feeling as satisfied as i can imagine myself ever being.

it's been a long journey, but here i am. with luck, you may hopefully find your own personal Anime satisfaction much, much sooner than i...

It's a certain game involving squids and octopi. 😉

I've been into photography for quite a long time now, so I look forward to that aspect a lot!

I'm starting with one of the pre-made Dollce heads, to be mounted to a teen body (Obitsu 48 / DDP). My OC does a ton of cooking and recipe crafting, which will be the subject of the webcomic. Long term, I'll probably switch the head to a custom/commissioned one once I get a better feel for how this all looks in person, but I want to take things a step at a time.
