ayacchidere Posted February 5, 2012 So, here it comes, one of my reason to join this forum... to ask before I buy (My dad said before I bought something as expensive as Dollfies I have to know well about it...) Can I ask bunch of questions in one thread? Okay, here I go. 1. I saw a lot of guides on buying limited-edition models, but how about basic models? I know you can directly order it from Volks, but I need something to convince my parents about it like a how-to-guide. 1.b. Does Volks ships their dolls to Indonesia, and if there's any, is there any Indonesian (preferably Jakarta or West Java) shops physically sells basic model Dollfies? (Since my parents will be more convinced for me to buy them if it doesn't involve shipping from other countries... yeah it's hard to convince them.) 2. Is there any shops in Jakarta or just Indonesia in whole that sells Dollfie clothes, shoes and accessories? I can learn to knit on my own later, but just in case for several things I can't knit or make.... Overseas countries shop may work too as long as they ship to my country ^_^ 3. Please link me to any tutorial you guys knew about taking care of Dollfies besides the ones on the sticky topic. 4. How much money do I have to prepare for DD basic model Aoi, including shipping fees? As you can see I live in Indonesia, around Bekasi for exact. 5. This is just something to convince my parents, but what do you guys did with your dollfies? Thanks in advance
Nightmare Tea Posted February 5, 2012 I will answer the ones I can. 1. Volks USA only ships to the USA, but Volks International will probably ship to your country. http://www.volks.co.jp/en/dollfiedream/index.html (to pay with yen, you will need a paypal, as it can automaticly covert your currency into yen) 3. There is a very useful tutorial for Dollfie Dream care up on Youtube: Part 1: Part 2: 4. The Aoi basic model on Volks International is 44,100 yen, about 600 USD. For shipping and supplies as well, I would just save around 800 USD (a.k.a the equivalent of it in your currency). You might be left with a bit of extra, but it's better safe than sorry. 5. Well, my parents were pretty accepting when I came up to them and said "Yo, so there's this expensive doll I want. Let me work for some money.". Of course they were a bit sticker-shocked, but it turn out well in the end. Also it doesn't really matter of your age. I'm still a teenager, but I reached my goal. I think my mom doesn't like paypal, is there any other way? I haven't own my own credit card ^^;; If there's no other way, is there any guide on using Paypal? Thanks for the links. 800 USD means... around 7 million in my country's currency ^^;; I'll do my best to save. well what I'm asking here is more to 'is the community using their dollfies for what, since I don't want my parents to get the wrong idea about what does people do with their dollfies.' But thanks for sharing your experience ^^ Yeah, I'm still a teenager without a part time jobs and all I do is saving from my own pocket money so it'll take long way to go My parents said it's okay as long as I do well on my studies and use my own pocket money for anything hobby-related. Ravendruid Posted February 5, 2012 A lot of people use their DDs as models for sewing and photography. My wife uses some of her dolls for practice sewing outfits on a smaller, less expensive scale. They are also great for learning to work with new/expensive fabrics in small amounts (at least those are the excuses I use with my parents). They are also a fantastic way to meet new friends from all over the world! Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
archangeli Posted February 5, 2012 Ah, I see. A Paypal account... I think my mom doesn't like paypal, is there any other way? I haven't own my own credit card ^^;; If there's no other way, is there any guide on using Paypal? If I remember correctly from my last Volks International order, they can process your order directly with a credit card too, and you don't need a Paypal account. If your mom doesn't like paypal, you could always do it that way. PayPal is handy since most people have an account already, and if you're nervous about sharing your information all over the internet it means that only Paypal has your financial info. They have very detailed instructions and FAQ's on their website. Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
ayacchidere Posted February 5, 2012 @Ravendruids: Ah, that's a very good reason! Might try using that reason too I mostly want a DD because I like dressing up and customizing something but doesn't like dressing up myself (I have strange obsession with dress up games...), but I don't really think my thoughts alone can convince my parents. ^^;; You know, I'm afraid they'll find out lots of characters that have been made DD are Eroge characters and thinks the wrong way about the community... (Not like I have a thing against Eroge characters DD, but well, parents are worrywarts as you can see ^^;; ) @archangeli: OK, once I get the money I need, I'll discuss it with my parents. Thank you, everyone
