My Dollfie's nose got shaved off by a bit

Recommended Posts

During transport, I kept my 2B Dollfie Dream in a suitcase since I thought that'd be best for her safety. She was wrapped in a towel and wore a plastic face cover. I took her out just recently and realized, under the light, that the tip of her nose was now mildly flat and shiny. The face cover has either compressed or rubbed too much against her nose. It's a small damage, but it pains me that her original face mold is altered.

Is there a place in California that can fix her face? Maybe I can fix her nose myself? If it's too much trouble, I probably won't trust myself to alter her any further.

There isn't anything like a DD repair shop, but some face-up artists do mods and can probably fix her for you.

If it's the Volks face cover, it should be installed so it doesn't touch any part of her face.

Use the Volks protect tape or colorless masking tape. Tape can transfer it's color and stain the doll, and you don't want that stuff anywhere near the face.

This vertical bit should be pulled far enough back that the foam strip isn't touching her blush. The horizontal should be well above her eyebrows.

I usually tuck the bottom into the gap between the neck and head.

The bottom of the cover should impact her neck and leave plenty of clearance between the plastic cover and any part of the face. You could maybe wrap a foam strip around her neck to protect it and increase the face clearance. I've never tried that, but it might work.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

I would honestly warm the nose part with a hairdryer, and leave it like that for a few weeks - it it was just compressed, heat+time will definitely make the part pop back in place :)
If the piece was physically scratched, so a part of vinyl has actually come off, I'd just sand the bit down with magic eraser first, ultra-fine sandpaper then. They do work miracles on damaged dolls. If, in the end, the part is fixed but it is still a bit shiny, you can use the lightest spray of MSC to mattify the area.

I used to run a small "repair" workshop where I was receiving all sorts of scratched dolls, and very rarely the above methods did not work.

@Bellatrix makes a very good point. Compression marks in vinyl usually disappear over time.

@BeyondTime @Bellatrix Much thanks for all the pictures and advice. If I find time, I'll try out that hairdryer trick.

Maybe the issue is that I used a face cover that wasn't suited for my doll's face?

Also, the nose currently looks as it is in the following pictures. Would you all say it looks like compression?

Yep it does look like compression to me.

Also don't worry, I fixed dolls that were in much worse shape.

This is a very small issue to deal with, and I am sure you can do it yourself using the tricks I suggested.

Please make sure to cover the rest of the face when using the hairdryer trick, and focus on the nose only.

If the worse comes to worst, that seems like the easiest job to sand it down a bit, just make sure to use a very very fine sandpaper.
