I wasn’t going for Emilia V2, but she sold out by the time I completed checkout for Skadi. I think Anthy could potentially be that bad of a clickwar. I hope not, I hope she stays up for a few hours, but I think tawny skin makes that really unlikely. Unless that skin tone totally turns off the local market, she’s gonna be huge. 

I love Utena Tenjo the character, so she’s coming home, but not Anthy. I’d love to have Anthy, I really love her skin color, but I can’t manage it the same month I’m dropping $2200+ on Anna & Elsa SDs. XD 

Gonna have to prioritize my pink haired femme fatale Utena over Anthy. 

Elsa I’d prioritize over food. 🤣😂🤣
 

One other thing about click wars. Sometimes they restock after a few hours, so if they go to “awaiting restock” check back at their site and watch the Volks Twitter feed. 

The Revolutionary Girl Utena page has been updated!  Now we've got a few more high quality photos of both, but otherwise no new info on the After Event sales method, as that page is still being prepared.  This is the only info we have right now:

Definitely like just how high quality these photos are though! You can see all the detailing really nicely.

Yes! I was really pleased to see they plan on giving a chance to the US shop.  Hopefully this gives some of us twice the chance to get both, just in case.  I'm still really praying for a full unlimited preorder, of course.

Sales date is listed as April 30th, and I think a single date usually indicates cart sales as opposed to lottery or pre-order.

Whoooo hooooo!!! We at least can take comfort that VolksUSA can’t be a clickwar bc their website can never handle it 😂 so thankfully with the stateside release it’s all up to lady luck.

Do previous DD owners think that Anthy and Utena may stain each other?
If I were to get them both there would be a lot of holding involved with each other
and we have Utena's bare legs (though if a bodystocking doesn't look terrible it could be used on her legs)
and Anthy's arms touching Utena's black jacket and Utena would touch Anthy's red dress.
I'll try to run the dye some from Utena's red socks and shorts, but I'd rather not mess with Anthy's dress
in the event I do end up getting her..

I’d say it’s probably pretty likely. I’ve used masking tape on the inside of some garments and it seems to keep the staining at bay… meanwhile I had massive staining from shoes through socks so I’m always a little dubious even with body stockings bc some how some way vinyl will just suck that dye whenever it can 🥴

There's a 100% chance that both of their outfits are going to stain.

Utena's jacket is black, which will definitely stain (and if you look closely, it's not even lined in white, it's lined in gray).  The ruffle is included as a sleeveless sort of dress, so her torso may escape mostly unscathed, but her arms most likely will not.  Her shorts are red lined with white, but the stitching is red so those threads will also stain.  Finally, her socks are solid red, so say goodbye to her clean feet the moment you dress her.  Her shoes are lined in white, but they'll only help to hold her socks close to her feet, ensuring red stains.

For Himemiya, her skirt is only partially lined with gray; it seems like they only lined the pleated areas to ensure the structure of the skirt is maintained, but the sides are unlined entirely.  She wears a petticoat, but you can stain through thin layers even if you're careful.  Her top and wrist cuffs seem to also be lined in gray, but there may be red stitching that we can't yet see.  Her shoes, like Utena's, are lined in white, and since she doesn't wear socks or stockings, we may get away with her feet being unstained.  The biggest offender for Himemiya however is going to be her wig— look closely!  Her wig cap is black.  I understand why they made this choice for her hair colour, especially because her bangs are parted at the front, so a darker wig cap will be less noticeable, but this will definitely stain her head!

Lastly, much like with the Sailor Senshi DDs, any of the gold painted parts could also stain them.  An overall 10/10 for stainability for both Utena and Himemiya, unfortunately.

I have quite a bit of it and figured I'd work, but wasn't sure if to buy VOLKs tape instead if there was really THAT much of a diff.

I think my question was misunderstood, I'm aware that their outfits will stain them, but I was mainly wondering if the dolls would stain EACH OTHER lol
Since I'll be having them hold one another etc., but I guess if they are staining themselves, then yeah they will stain each other..
so maybe I won't get to pose them the way I want after all and with that the appeal of getting Anthy as well because I want them together I less.

Like if they're just going to stand there at most holding hands (in their outfits, I have no intention of changing their outfits) I don't see a point in getting Anthy (for me personally)
I made a list of pros and cons for Anthy:
.Piercing ears
.Black wig cap
.May not be able to get her close to Utena b/c staining red dress
.Minor issues w/ face up (won't change due to collectivity value for me though)
.Would have to buy long hair wig since I don't love the short one
.Would be harder to replace if anything happens to her body
.Depending on selling method I might be stuck with just her OR having to pick between her and Utena during click war
.Dress takes up a lot room to display

I mainly want Anthy's dollfie because well, it's the first REALLY pretty Anthy piece of merch
but I also really wanted something where both her and Utena could look gorgeous together/close to one another similar to some official art where they hold each other, and who knows if PVC figure companies will ever make something like that. Megahouse Anthy got cancelled and even then she's at Utena's feet, and the Volks charagumi GK looks okay but I'm not in love with it and I refuse to buy and paint kits.
So if I can't even do that with the their dollfies that have a lot of mobility due to staining then there won't be much of a reason for me to get Anthy.. :c

This is mainly due to their price tags though and the space they take, along with potentially another character that I like more than Anthy coming out. If dollfies were 300 each (I know they're worth the 700usd of course) then all those little issues wouldn't matter of course lol But at this point I may pay a premium for a product that won't do what I want it to.

Yeah I bought a roll when it originally came out and was like … wait…  this is just slightly fancier masking tape! Don’t get me wrong though it’s nice tape bc it is color matched pretty close to the dd skin colors. They always toted as putting it directly on the vinyl but I’m just overly paranoid I suppose about the long term affects of the minor adhesive haha.

Only if you put the face up directly against the other doll, which I would not do under any circumstances because you might chip or scratch it. 
 

The vinyl won't be stained by contact with another vinyl doll.

Their clothes can stain another doll IF that doll touches them with bare vinyl.

Ah yeah I didn't specify that, but yes, their outfits are going to stain each other if they're touching the fabric, since they're already pretty much guaranteed to stain themselves.  Blacks and Reds are the most volatile of colours when it comes to staining, unfortunately, so Utena and Himemiya are just a tag-team duo of maintenance terror.  They can stain their own hands if you position them in a way that their hands are resting on the fabric, like a hand-on-hip pose.

You can line their outfits with masking tape/Volks tape, but it won't protect them from each other.  The outsides of their outfits are even more likely to stain them if they're touching, since Volks does usually try to line the outfits to limit the amount of staining that happens on the inside, but there's no prevention to be done for the outside.  Even "setting" the dye doesn't actually work; methods using vinegar or salt don't actually do anything for the dye, and Colour Fixatives usually won't work, especially on synthetic fabrics.  The best you can do is rinse out loose dye, but this doesn't prevent further dye from crocking or 'leeching' out and the vinyl picking it up.  Plus you run the risk of ruining details, like the white trim on Himemiya's dress, which would turn pink.

I personally plan to keep both of mine seated or standing separately, and only pose them together for photos, to limit how much they'll be stained on visible areas like their hands.  I fully expect their outfits to stain them, but unless they put out a school uniform outfit set for Himemiya, I'm probably going to keep them in their standard outfits forever and just accept that they'll be stained underneath.  Because I don't really love the bodysuits, plus there isn't one for Tawny (yet? Volks??), so I'm going to just display them fully dressed and enjoy them, even if it means they get hidden stains.

Thought that I'd be worth the 700usd+ (since like you I'll be keeping mine in their outfits) if I could pose them together and they'd be one of if not the only piece of Utena merch that can have them holding each other. Then the whole staining thing came to my mind and just oaisjdoaisjd
I did think of having Anthy get a custom school outfit as well! But at the end of the day with so many things Anthy would end up costing me more than I'd like to shell out for her. So in the end I think I'll just hope or wait for more RGU merch and a scale figure that's pre-painted of them holding each other or something ; A ;

was legitimately wondering if there wasn't a tawny because that's just.. shame on you volks! I get it though, with how little tawny there is out there.
Having to display them separately just kinda kills a big part of why I wanted both of them unfortunately T AT
I had planned out a rose background or maybe something like the elevator and them holding each other etc.
But with Utena's bare legs and Anthy's bare arms and them both being red and black just.. OTL

At most I could have Anthy sitting in a chair (so a natural way to separate them) and Utena leaning on the chair/near or around it with their hands "holding", but that's about the only way I can imagine both of them "together" without touching x'D

Thank you for this! I thought out having their cheeks touch, so that's a definitely no go.
But was also worried that the tawny vynil may stain Utena's, didn't think it would but was a thought
in case I have hands touching or hand touching bare vinyl arm.

 

I feel like I'm starting this hobby on hard mode between Y'shtola being on the more expensive end+ ALL black.
Also TWO releases for DDs who BOTH have very stain heavy colors all within a year.
On top of that one of them doesn't have a bodysuit for their skin tone, will be sought after (so competition)
because of skin tone or joints.
As for small things, she has a gold hair piece and needs her ears pierced lol
Both of them maint. heavy as well, specially since I want Utena holding her weapon.

From 0 DDs in the 15yr+ collecting merchandise to potentially 3 in within one year and they're like this. 😂

For my space I don't think I have enough room to keep them both standing (I already have three girls on my desk, and plan on adding KAITO once he's released, so I'm out of room there), so I plan to buy or make chairs for them to sit on and be displayed on their own shelf nearby.  I'm most likely going to have them reaching out for one another, a bit like one of the movie artwork pieces (minus Akio and Touga, of course).  That way they'll be posed thoughtfully but not risking further stains.

Utena and Himemiya reach for one another more than a few times across all of the series media, so I think it's fitting, but I fully understand wanting to keep them posed in an embrace!

You can get bodysuits from Coolcats that are not full body, and which may allow you to better hide the bodysuit under an outfit. You can also get some that look like stockings, and even if not technically canon, you can make the outfit look like she's wearing stockings and not a protective body sock.

I wish they had made an exclusive holding hands part for them, but I think the holding hands are poured as once piece, not two, so they wouldn't be able to be cast in two separate colours.  They'd probably have to make a new hand part that could be linked with another hand, and then offer them in both Flesh and Tawny.  I feel like we're already lucky getting Utena and Himemiya as it is, so I won't push my luck by asking for more! I'm more worried about making the holes symmetrical and not so much the piercing bit = u=;;
I can be OCD like that..

I'll definitely look up coolcats, I don't mind the bodysuit showing on most legs/outfits that don't normally use them
as it is I do it for my own cosplay due to comfort, so 100% not an issue and thankfully with Himemiya the legs will be covered
with Utena at least you have something that fits her skin color, it was mostly me not wanting to see diff. arm tones on Himemiya.
But that can be solved with coolcats bodysuit then that solves that problem.

When I thought of which characters that I really like would make good dollfies I thought of Utena and Anthy
but there's only so many collabs in a year.. lol
This is basically one of the big pros for getting Anthy for me, just the sheer luck of getting any Utena merch in this age
and one of high quality- so special and unique. Though we did get Pullips and an Azone so there's that . w.

I am more surprised we didn't get her uniform though, it looks pretty simple to make.
Maybe Volks just has too much on their plate to release one. So instead of another outfit for Anthy
we get both Utena AND Anthy. 

Even the SM girls and Rena have gotten their uniforms, maybe they think Anthy's uniform specifically 
won't sell as well? Like if their logistics team thinks most will get Anthy for her body and joints, they figured most won't go
for her uniform and then on top of that pay not for one but two dolls for the people that DO want them for the characters they are.
That's really all I can think of since the When they Cry characters (Beato and Rena) are relatively niche as well but we got extra outfits.

I mean… I can certainly understand the appeal of displaying them loveydovey long term, but just because it might be dangerous doesn’t mean you can’t still take photos like that or have them holding eachother for short periods at a time. Otherwise they should be able to at least stand next to eachother with hands touching just fine, or a setup like OccultBeast showed.
I have a similar dilemma with Luka and Miku, but it’s much less so for me because they’re pretty much never in their default outfits anyway. They do sometimes have dark parts I don’t want either of them touching long-term so they usually just their arms intwined - the fabrics are touching the other fabrics but the hands are only touching hands. Even without a hand holding part (since Luka and Miku are also different skin tones), having the fingers of the hands intwined is still possible since they’re soft/moveable enough to allow for that. It looks more intimate than simply touching hands although more delicate than actually holding hands.

This is just my speculation but I think there’s almost zero chance of one coming out that is marketed for Anthy -specifically-. There has been precedent for bodysuits specifically for a certain characters - Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin had one each (they differ from a normal DD Semiwhite bodysuit/DDS Flesh bodysuit as it has the 01/02 printed on the shoulder) but they were announced alongside the character and came out in the same period. They didn’t announce a bodysuit for Anthy along with her in Volks news and I doubt they’d release a bodysuit that was for her specifically -after- she’s been released.
However that doesn’t rule out a tawny bodysuit ever existing, if they continue to do more with the tone, there’s a chance a general Tawny bodysuit could happen. I really hope they do.

The question for me is now that they have tawny joints, does the next tawny icon use those? I'm guessing not, if the next one is still using DDIII.
