IM SO HAPPY THEY CHANGED IT. I know I can still lose but I'd rather lose a lottery than a clickwar. I wonder what made Volks change their minds?

I'm actually confused/unsure about this.  The tweet where they're shared mentions "lottery sales" (specifying that they are available online only), but both the After Event pages and the individual Utena pages do not specify that Utena and Himemiya are available via lottery.  Regulus and Maximillian are listed specifically as lottery entry only, but no other dolls on the After Event page are, including Utena and Himemiya.  On the individual listing pages for Regulus and Maximillian, they specify [Lottery sale] above their name, but Utena and Himemiya do not.  Wouldn't Volks have changed at least their listing pages if they had changed the purchase method from clickwar to lottery?

Hmmm it could be a delay?  Either that or the tweet is an error but it’s been up a full day so seems odd they’d miss that.  Guess we will see.

The Instagram posts say the same thing as the tweet, and the way it's written with the ※ makes it seem like they're just specifying details for the products listed as lottery, not that they changed Utena/Himemiya to lottery.

If Volks could stop confusing me with tweets that’d be great

I was ecstatic now I’m confused over here… lol

I hope in the end it’s truly a lottery as it gives people with other priorities a somewhat equal shot.

I feel like I got excited too soon. >__<, now I'm confused as well.

At the very least, it seems pretty certain that Volks USA will be lottery (but I know that doesn't help some of you non-NA people!😣) so there will be a second chance for some of us?  Also means that there will be more of them in the market than what is sold via Volks JP only.  I just hope there are more people willing to give up their second win/extras/etc for retail prices to other collectors who genuinely want them, instead of most people just trying to make a buck off of reselling them...

I've seen plenty of users here selling their lottery wins if they ended up with two via their specific threads, so I'm hopeful our community keeps up the trend and we see lots of people helping others to get their Utena and Himemiya!

Yeah my thought was to make a list thread of who is attempting with how many available lottery entries and then the outcome when it’s done - depending on the Intl. site outcome I would be using my husband, my parents, etc to get a shot bc these gals need to be in my glass shrine cabinet lol

There is a lottery win rate thread, but it fell out of use when the win rate spiked a number of years back. 
 

 

I saw that tweet and I'm still very confused. I would not be disappointed at all if they're changed to lottery, as I think I'd have a better shot than a clickwar. It's probably just a mistake so I'm not holding my breath.

Hmmm... I would def prefer lottery.  I hope it is but will still plan on the clickwar.  I ended up having to buy a new PC today so on the plus side, internet willing, maybe it will run lightning fast and carry me to victory!  On the negative side that could have been doll money haha...  let's hope the dollar stays strong!

But the tweets and Instagram posts are specifically about Utena and Anthy, not the After Event as a whole itself, so there is no reason for ‘sales by lottery method’ to not refer to them… especially because the only other items in the After Event that are also lottery are the SDs and the tweet/Instagram post isn’t about them at all. The specific wording used to talk about the sales method is worded in such a way as though it’s a clarification/announcement, not a rehash of something that’s already been stated . To be honest I think the only reason the tweet/Insta post would say lottery if Utena and Anthy -aren’t- would be if it was a mistake (and a pretty big one, a lot more than just a typo given that they list the lottery period and everything).

SDs are almost always lottery so that was probably decided well in advance, hence why the info was already on their page, but Utena and Anthy were probably up in the air (or they really did change their mind from a clickwar), hence why it isn’t mentioned on their page yet. It’s pretty normal for fine details to not be added until much closer to the actual event, and there’s still just over a month to go. (Although I wish they’d add it, if not just to clear up confusion, and it’s true that things are a bit abnormal for this release because of the big delay, I mean I don’t even think dolls have been added to the online store -this- far in advance before!)

One possibility is the pre-payment requirement and the changing exchange rate. If you lose the lottery you can be refunded a smaller amount if the exchange rate changes. That was really unpopular, but requiring pre-payment helped Volks reduce the amount of non-payment in orders. 

That's just speculation though, they've never formally said why.

Good point - never considered that being a possible issue if they’re taking pre-payment up front to then refund if you lose. I always just pictured the payment being done completely separate after they’ve drawn the results like how VolksUSA does it.
