Advice on carrying my girls Overseas

Recommended Posts

Kaya

Hi all!

I'm going to Perth, Australia soon to study and I plan on bringing my girls along with me because I'll be gone for a while. I have 2 of them, one Smart Doll and one Dollfie Dream Sister. I've read a couple of posts stating that it would be best to carry them onto the plane. I was thinking of removing their heads and then wrapping their bodies with a blanket/towel. I'll most likely be putting them in a kneeling position so they fit in the bag. I need to carry my other essentials such as my laptop and tablet so I'm going to buy a bag that can fit it all because all my bags are currently too small. I was looking at backpack brands like "Wandrd" because some look big enough to fit everything and still meet the carry-on size limit on planes. I also plan to check-in my doll clothes and accessories in my luggage. Is that a good idea?

Has anyone ever had issues with carrying their dolls on a plane to countries like Australia? I'd love to hear your experiences!

I would love to hear suggestions on how I can pack them! I'm open to different backpack brands as well!

Thanks in advance! 😄

I went Japan -> Australia in 2018. Luckily you have far less dolls than I did so don’t think it will be difficult, especially if you’re only going to study. In my case I got a small suitcase, the largest type they allow as carry-on luggage, removed some limbs and at least one head and kinda tetris’d them in. The advantage of the suitcase besides it probably giving you more space is that there’s less chance of it getting crushed by someone else’s baggage that they’re squeezing into the overhead compartment next to yours. I did also have a backpack with my MDD and PS4 in it but there was nothing special about it. I think you could easily fit your laptop and tablet and even some of their clothes in with the dolls in the suitcase (unless you wanted the tablet for the flight anyway)

I had a direct flight to Sydney and got picked up from there but depending on where you’re coming from, you may not be going direct to Perth so I would double check your baggage allowance for the domestic leg of the trip if there is one.

Oh that's a great idea, I had initially thought of carrying one bag but I wasn't even sure if it'll all fit. I'll try to pack em in a carry-on luggage then maybe my backpack wouldn't be too overloaded.

Thanks for the suggestion!
