Sabine - A custom Rina Ogata head.

Recommended Posts

finnleo

This post came a bit more early than I expected I would make it, but I decided I needed a small distraction from an ongoing situation, and the head was very nice to just keep hidden away so here it is...

Since its just a head, no order number to give out yet...

As some know, Rina Ogata is originally part of the Leaf/Aquaplus character collab models, namely White Album.

Kawata Hisashi was responsible for the original character designs for both Rina, and Yuki Morikawa and also some of the other To Heart 2 character collabs. Namely Sasara Kusugawa, and Lucy Maria Misora (sadly we never got a Marianne-Senpai).

Which I find to be a bit weird, since the other two character designers at leaf, who I might argue are more famous in the art sphere only got three models combined. One for Misato Mitsumi, and two for Tatsuki Amaduyu

In terms of sculpt and original faceups I think Rina was quite good in comparison to the original art and out of the two white album models I've always preferred Rina over Yuki, and this is purely based on looks as I havent really bothered with either the visual novel nor the anime that followed, and I never really understood why Yuki became as desirable as she did back in the day.

But despite liking Rina more it did take me up to now to get one ... and there are reasons for this. Because Rina as a doll was arguably even more famous in the doll hobbyist scene than say Yuki was, mostly due to one doll photographer who went by the name Azure Toy Box, or Azure_TB. And Rina was their choise of model for their trips around japan, with a very signature departure photograph done every season they were active.

And if you remember AzureTB ... one just does not simply pick up a Rina Ogata doll ... oh no... even if in the end you realized there was photoshoppery going on with their photos.

But I finally thought I might be at a level to get a Rina of my own and had been browsing mandarake for one ... and then this custom one came up on the marketboard, and I didnt need much in terms of thinking time.

The paintwork is unknown to me and wasnt disclosed in the sales post, but I would describe it as lush and detailed. The more pronounced eyebrows seem to be of the recent trends, but I wouldnt know an exact vintage, and I havent really been following the custom painters these days.

As for a name ... my usual thing has been to go with character names that have been performed by Audrey Hepburn as a swap option, but once I did make an exeption before, and I decided it might be time for that perticular protocol again as this head did arrive to me via Germany ... and Germany had one of the most talented and best known women racecar drivers on the planet, the late Sabine Schmitz, so Sabine it is this time.

The head is in the configuration as it came to me, eyes included, which maybe have a little bit too much of negative camber going on for my personal liking, but I wasnt feeling up to open the head just yet.

At this point the wig I had started off with apparently sensed some kind of deception and decided to cease co-operation completely in terms of the front bangs, so a haircut was done:

And that is all for now ... and now back to the gooey stuff that await in reality.

I'm glad she found a good home. I bought her on Ebay myself, but I think the person who did her face-up was:

picture from her instagram:

Well, "good" might be a subjective thing ^^;   big group and all, and not enough time to really take photo's, at least for now.

And thanks for pointing out the possible artist ... based on those instagram post photo's I was 95% sure ... but then I poked around their sites, and found this:

https://www.dollmoon.com/project/dollfie-dream-rina-ogata-01/

Now im 99.5% sure based on the red's in the corners of the mouth, and the small details around the distinctive eyelashes...

and if it is theirs ... I feel a bit weird, since based on that listing it would be their number one.

Congrats on that cutie! ❤

I can confirm she is painted by Dollmoon.

I have also seen her on Ebay a while back and know it's her personal Ebay account.

Thank you very many.

She is indeed quite the looker ... and I still wish she had arrived in a better moment in time because of personal things that are going on...

still, finding out the past of the head is interesting in a way... although it also sort of adds pressure to make even better photos in a way...

In terms of the original look I really do love the lilac hair, though I am not that fond of amber eyes, so I borrowed the wig off my Emilia, and the Milinda relieved her ex twin-snow blue cat eyes, and decided to take a few snaps as a diversion to the things going on...:

Harsh lights and all, and no photoshop magic ... but, I do like what I see.
