AX '22 Volks booth!

Volks had one of my grails 9S! ; A ;
I couldn't believe my eyes.. I was walking and spotted 2B and 9S, thought it was neat to see them
a bit bummed out wishing I could have him, and then I saw him on the menu. Panicked, wallet cried, and I carried him
proudly out of there x'D

They had some really cool and rare dollfies! Was surprised to see Lina and Matoi, Emilia was also tempting but this would be my 4th
dollfie in 12 months aosijdasijd, I now own 2 Square Enix (Y'shtola+9S) and 2 anime dollfies! (Utena and Anthy)
I've reached my quota at this point, though I think I'll extend it to 6 in case there's another FFXIV dollfie I want and Aqua from Konosuba.
(I legitimately didn't expect Utena and Anthy to be made, due to the anime being a bit niche, just thought they'd look really good as DDs, so they took 2 unexpected slots.)

Surprised to see Utena as well! I had an inkling that they may have some but wasn't sure due to shipping times.
So I think it's pretty nice that Volks went out of their way to ship out some Utena stock quickly to the US for the event! 
(Just realized they only had Utena for pre-order)
It also felt pretty cool to walk around with a Volks bag, I remember thinking the bags looked fancy even before I got into buying DDs and wanted one lol
Was a bit bummed out to find out that you didn't get one when you buy from GL, but it made sense.

Side note, I chatted with staff and had fun talking about Nier and DDs in general!
I'm new to the hobby, so it was nice to have someone to share my excitement for it in person.

Wow that's so cool they had "older" releases for sale.  Very lucky for you to bring home 9S at retail price congratulations he's a cutie!

Congrats! I was so tempted when I saw they had 9S, especially since the price was so much better than the ones I've seen on Mandarake. Unfortunately, it was still way more than I'd planned on spending, and I just didn't feel like I could afford him. I'm glad he (or one of him, at least) found a good home with you.

Thank you! Maybe some day you'll come across him again for an affordable/not as high price. It's happened before w/ figures for me! They might also end up having him again at next year's event if he didn't sell out.

I debated it as well, but he was a literal grail, one of my favorite characters in general from Square Enix games and I did think about it for a bit/freak out lol-- I only went over budget on what I spent on him so he did take from my savings, but not in a way where it'll make it difficult for me..
I'm not happy about buying 4 DDs in less than a year though since I worried I'd feel like an obsession, my intention was to own 4 DDs in total since I'm more of a figure collector, but Utena and Anthy were made as a pair and that quickly took up 2 slots. I don't have the room for many more either so I think my absolute maximum will have to be 6, otherwise I won't be able to display them nicely and that would feel like a waste.
Fortunately b/c I could afford him I realized I'd regret it more later if I didn't go for it over the whole "I shouldn't b/c it's a lot and I already bought 3 other DDs" (guilt)
tbf they're all from my top 10 favorite things as well.

It was an average sized booth for the convention! They weren't one of the big exhibitors, but they didn't have a tiny space either.

Congrats!! Having 9S and 2B wasn't something I expected them to have stock of! I'm happy that you were able to get your 9S!

I hope they return for 2023!

Now I'm desperately hoping 2b, 9s and mash will be sold online again at some point since they had them at the con...

Your wish might be granted since all three (plus Gudako and Akira 2nd Ver.) will be sold at DD Fes 2022 in mid-July. I suspect that any surplus stock will be sold online, but you could always hire a proxy to buy them for you at the festival just in case.
