Best doll hair fibre for movement?

Recommended Posts

NeReid

Idk if I’m just nitpicky but I’ve noticed that many Doll wigs depending on the synthetic fibre used have a “stiff” appearance in pictures While others lay perfectly in doll scale, and it’s making me keep wig-buying as like the last step I take.

I assume most DD/BJD wigs are a sort of saran or kankelon because those are the most common synthetic doll hairs, but I wonder if there’s a specific type of doll hair that’s known for laying better or having better more realistic movement in doll scale?

EDIT// this can also be a discussion about your favourite doll wig hair types and why<3

I don't know what kind of hair it is (in terms of what it's made of) but all of my favorite wigs are imitation mohair or what I've seen called "milk silk". I like them specifically because the bangs or short tendrils around the hairline tend to sit close to the face and they can easily be styled into place with your fingers. It has kind of a wispy look to it, and it's super shiny which I think works pretty well with anime dolls 😙 I usually only get short wigs though, so I can't speak to how it behaves when it's longer.

Ooo I’ve never heard of milk silk before. I always assume Imitation mohair is very fluffy and holds its shape. That sounds really interesting.

i think another type of hair fibres that look really good on doll scale even when it’s long is alpaca fibre  but I am more interested in synthetic fibres so I’ll definitely look that up thank uu
