At last I have Hitori Gotoh, a.k.a Bocchi the doll.

Cosplaying as Bocchi from Kessoku band is Kizuna AI. Her outfit and hairpiece is by dollremi. The school bag is by Volks. Her wig was a lucky find on YJA. Her guitar is DD Mio's guitar (from K-On).

All I need now is a DD sized mango box 🥭.

If anyone's not familiar with the anime, it is hilarious and definitely worth watching.

Momo's been here a while but I've really neglected her and her sister Rena. Both were acquired from YJA for a really good price. Momo is Mochi-Ashi and Rena is semi-white. So I got a couple of very good deals.

Now Momo has new eyes and a new outfit. I feel she's really part of our doll family now.

It's incredible to think that Towa's almost 4 years old now. She looks in fabulous condition despite the dump of a house she and I had to endure during covid. Then there were several cat attacks and a couple of staining episodes. But she's still on one piece.

To celebrate the occasion I got her a new necklace and two new family members will hopefully be arriving soon.

I was lucky to pick up Ciel's alternative outfit soon after I acquired her as these alternative outfits have an annoying habit of becoming rare and overpriced.

Ciel's school outfit is cool in that it includes the glasses (which are a really good fit). Other dolls have also been known to steal them (especially Misaki).

The Ciel figure is a fun little figure. She perches on a really high lamp post. We hope to acquire the Arcueid in the same series at some point. We do have a couple of the other characters though. Ciel and Arcueid are the most sought after.

It's that time of year when dolls lucky enough to have both a winter and summer set start thinking about their warmer winter wardrobes.

Maybe this is an elf thing because I think only Kirika and Frieren came with seasonal outfits.

Below is Shining Resonance's Kirika Towa Alma in what is arguably one of the most sensational default outfits my girls have.

Also they're not visible but the wrap-around has bells on it. I only hope my sister's cat doesn't visit for a while...

Another anime crossover... it's Sakura Bocchi.

Our doll family is legion, but Shin Sato knows she's favourite...

At some point I should probably attempt to put her default outfit on her, but for now she's happy to cosplay as Takina.

She is so cute.

Uzuki was arrival #2 but I realised I never really took many photos of her in her default Smile & Sweets outfit.

I still think it's one of the best default outfits ever.

I agree!  Maid uniforms from Volks are always awesome and hers is adorable.   

Earlier you mentioned your doll family is legion....  how many are you up to now?

Towa's (back centre with light blue hair) extended family as of December 2024. The Konosuba pair were tasked with putting the lights on the Christmas tree but Aqua discovered Jim Beam and Megumin was exhausted after exploding something on the beach.

We now definitively know there are 34 in total.

I just noticed Emilia is giving Frieren a very frostly look. Len is now a maid. Kaito's still dreaming of a bodysuit so he can dress as Kaito. Erica Fontaine's dreaming of gun holding hands.

I was thinking it would be epic if we had enough of something to dress them all the same. It might have to be maid outfits.

Our annual Dollfie awards:

Best dressed (in the photo): Kirika Towa Alma (front right with blonde hair). Runner up: My Dearest Vampire (Miku ver.)
Wifu of the year: Shin Sato (centre back with dark purple hair). Runner up: Uzuki Shimamura.
Unexpected find of the year: Ram. Runner up: Rem.
Best Volks adaptation of doll from manga/anime: Takina Inoue (front left). Runner up: Aqua.
Best cosplay: Kizuna AI as Sakura Bocchi. Runner up: Shin Sato as Takina Inoue.
Worst staining incident of the year: Ciel (Ciel default outfit and wig).
Biggest fail of the year: Megumin didn't come with gloves. Runner up: Aqua's week spent waiting for a flight at Paris CDG.

Hana has a new two-tone wig. I really like these but sadly we missed out on the black/red. I suspect they're widely available though.

She is just so gorgeous irl.

Momo's holding the rabbit backback. It was released by Volks in Spring 2023 (I think).

Me: we still need to buy some boy doll outfits.

Len: Rin has some great outfits - I'm cool bro.

Also - we have doll sized pizza now, and lots of it.

You can't go wrong with a maid uniform!   

Sakana 🐟!

I recreated this iconic Lycoris Recoil scene before with a Miku, but now I have actual Takina Inoue.

If anyone knows anyone who custom prints doll t-shirts we really want the Sakana 🐟 one that Mio wears in Summer Time Rendering.

Takina's outfit is really nice but the belt is annoying. I'll dress Chisato up some time but I needed to redress Takina due to urgent bodysuit shuffling.

We've kind of decided on a mass redressing effort. Yesterday we sorted Shin Sato and today we reworked Ciel.

In our non-default outfits box 3 of 6 I noticed we had the Saber Normal Clothes set from 2008/09. I realised the packet artwork of Saber bears a striking resemblance to one of my crew.

So here's Saber Len.

All we need is a dark blue hair ribbon. If there's ever a BJD cosplay competition I reckon he will slay the other competitors.

The outfit itself may or not be a grail. A lot of people seem to want it (maybe for the plushie). Remarkably we acquired it for more or less the original RRP on YJA. Sadly the pleather boots are crumbly but we might be able to either restore them or find some replacements.

Now if only we could get into the Fate universe and actually enjoy the animes...

Shin's trying out a number of anime convention outfits. Haruhi of course is extremely iconic. This could well be our most favourite wig ever.

We've had this outfit for a while and somebody's finally given it a go.

We now realise it's almost certainly made for DDdy so maybe Towa will give it a go sometime. I can't remember when we acquired it or how much we paid for it, but there's a lot of outfit for whatever it cost.

This is Asuna (Titania version) and she has the most intense gaze of any of our doll family 👀. I don't know what she'll wear next, but she says she's done being Titania.

Speaking of Towa, here she is.

This hoodie has become her safe space and I'm not sure she wants to wear anything else for a while.

It's amazing to think she will be 5 years old in October. Despite all the upheavals, she's still in great condition.

The hooman feels quite isolated working from home, so the dolls decided to send one of their own (and me) to a real live doll meeting.

Misaki kindly volunteered, because we thought a MDD would be a little less intimidating to the other dolls at the event. It was primarily for fashion dolls (i.e. Barbie, the Monster High types, Blythes), but other dolls types are welcome. If anyone from the UK is interested it happens once a month in London... PM me for details.

Misaki very much enjoyed the train journey to London.

Just don't ask us about the horror show that was the 17:13 from London Bridge 🥵.

We were early for the doll meet so we stopped off at Leadenhall Market. I used to work near there when I was a city suit (kind of like Japanese salarymen).

We need more practice with our Sony ZV-E10. Even if the focusing is a bit meh, the blurred background and the colours look absolutely beautiful with just the default lens. Next time I'll fix up a hot shoe light or a ring light so I can avoid the dreaded dark eyes.

Hats off to Misaki for putting in a perfect performance of free standing. She did not fall over once the entire day, and neither did Anjou or Asuna.

Misaki: hooman please buy all the things in this shop window.

Misaki got some interest at the doll meet, but I can't say she really upstaged the Barbies.

In case you're wondering, this month's theme was orange. That's something we don't have much of, except for Evil Rin's outfit.

Doll collectors were interested in how soft and squishy she felt. Also removable wigs and hot swappable hands are seen as a huge plus.

Misaki overlooked the fact that a few people thought she was a SmD. Whatever you think of DC, there's no denying he's done some excellent work in getting the brand recognised by the larger doll community.

I also took Azones Asuna Yuuki (Sword Art Online) and Anjou (from Anohana).

Anjou: sell Menma first thing on Monday and buy me this gorgeous chair instead.

The Azones proved quite popular. I guess they are distant relatives of many other BJDs through the Obitsu connection. For my trio of dolls there was a general feeling that the dolls are well proportioned and much more realistic than the stick thin dolls that are all too common. Maybe I'll take a DDdy next time 😁.

I did learn some useful tips for picking up cheap doll accessories. I also met a great Insta doll photographer and hopefully I can improve my own photos.

I don't know if I fell in love with any of the other dolls there. OK, there was one smaller Japanese BJD that blew my mind. Also a couple of the Barbies had absolutely killer outfits.
