50cm Obitsu chest and torso on DDP?

Is 50cm Obitsu chest and torso on DDP body a viable hybrid? Anyone know how to make this?

The chest / waist looks like it could work, but not sure about the arms. I plan on doing some stuff with Iori and Yayoi this weekend, so I can see if Kyoko's Obi50 bust fits on the DDP body.

Not sure if this will help, but @chef_mai has been doing a lot of hybridizing with Obitsu / Angel Philia. You could try asking about any pointers for making DD / Obitsu hybrids work.

If you are thinking of making a boy with a DDP body, you will probably have trouble finding boy clothing for him. Volks makes no full length pants in DDP size, and shorts are really hit and miss, at least MSD Girl sized shorts have difficulty getting over the hips and butt.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Tnx that would help. Yeah the ob50cm size/ ddp size boy dolls are hard to buy for. I made my guy on 50 cm obitsu some pants so those might fit on ddp since they are about the same height. I might work on sewing some jeans for him.

Ok, if you can make your own clothes you should be good with a DDP body.

The only problem is the butt...lol...I saw a pic of the butt on one of those bodies and it was pretty big haha. I wasn't really trying to make a dude with a big butt. X3 So that's why I need to mod it a bit more. I think it would work because I saw a tutorial on modding the MDD with obitsu parts...I was also considering buying a second hand DDP that was beat up and sanding the bottom part, but I don't want to attempt this unless there is a body that is really in need of TLC. It would kind of be a waste to heavily mod a perfectly good doll body in my opinion.

They aren't limited edition or anything, Volks will just make more.

Honestly, for a boy doll I think the bigger issue is the narrow waist and broad hips.

To some degree the segmented body will make a narrower waist an issue with Volks boys too, but overall the Volks boy body does a pretty good job looking masculine imo.

Volks limited boy heads are a different story, they always repaint into great looking girls. XD

I am not concerned with if it is limited or not-in my opinion if you're buying something new or in good shape it isn't worth modding it even if there are more. If it were a body someone else tried modding but messed up and can be fixed with some work, then I would say it would be worth the cost. Otherwise you might make the doll worse than it used to be, if you purchased it new. I know some collectors don't care but I would never do something like wipe a face up from an official DD doll. It would be more cost effective to buy a blank head.

I actually really love the narrow waist-it's just the hips and slight boobage. Ik it is hard to tell if the doll has a masculine faceup and baggy clothes, but underneath it all, you know he is a she. U_U I would love it if they made a DDP boy doll that still had the skinny physique, but without the breasts and hips. Not to be wierd or anything too but...dudes also have something females don't, which none of the DD female bodies have.

Well anyway, with a female body I just feel like any dude doll ends up looking like a lesbian, unfortunately.  My guy actually had a female lower torso from obitsu...so not even sure what he actually was (maybe he was an earthworm?).

And the boy bodies do tend to have something there to represent that, although imo it's really about making clothing look right and not about making an accurate representation of a male. It's the same with the female bodies, pretty sure the slight bit of shaping they have on the breasts and groin is about making clothing look natural without being graphic about it. Big exception being the large busts, but I'm guessing those are aimed at a slightly different market than the other busts.

Just for the record, most of the lesbians I've known haven't been butch. A few are, but that's a choice of personal style. The idea that lesbians are butch is a stereotype. Most of the ones I've known have been very feminine and quite pretty; they just like to romance other girls.

Doing a boy in the DDP/O48/50 size is the most difficult combination of all.

Parabox does or used to sell a 50cm boy body, but finding boy clothes that fit on O48/50 will be difficult if you want anything involving pants or long sleeves. (MDD/DDP clothing is too short sleeved)

DDP would theoretically be a better choice since at least they can wear MDD clothes and not worry about the sleeve length, but as you've both pointed out, the proportioning isn't boy-like.

I personally don't think this is a great route to go (hybrid or not) and feel that DDB is a better choice because there are so many more choice of clothing.

The big issue is getting a DDB here in the US, and I've even tried messaging @aililysan whenever I see one for sale here, but it seems like they're sold by the time the message gets marked as read.

It would be really great if Volks USA could either open an Online Dream Choice like their Super Dollfie Online FCS, or do an annual boy body pre-order. I'm guessing it's not a viable option for the company or they probably would have by now.

I have two boys that have a DD head on a Parabox 50cm boy body. One has an 05 head (Naoto) and the other has a modded Konomi head (Chika). Because the Konomi head was originally meant for an MDD body I shortened the neck of the 50cm body slightly so that he looks less like a giraffe.

This is Chika's favorite outfit but it was designed for an MDD so the sleeves are just a tad short. It's not enough to super bother me yet, but I have considered shortening his forearms just a bit to make it less noticeable. Naoto's outfit actually came from Parabox. I also have a pair of pants from them that fit him. The quality isn't as good as Volks but the price is generally lower too so I pick and choose what I am willing to compromise on or just make things myself. I don't really find them to be any easier or harder to dress than girls in the 48-50cm range, including DDP

Is the reason that you're looking to hybrid the body parts just because you don't like the Obitsu style joints? The smaller 50cm based range doesn't break as easily as the older 55cm, 60cm, and 65cm body range, and the replacement parts are easily obtainable unlike the old line. They also hold poses quite well and aren't loose in the elbows and shoulders like the old bigger bodies.

The 50cm boy bodies are currently in stock:

Well I actually saw a DDB on ebay for quite a while but they were asking $500. I thought I could save if I just sold the head and wig from a DD choice. However I have been working on modding an obitsu henzel (I think) head (one of the realistic ones) into an anime style head and might see if I can make a custom obitsu that way. I guess I hate to think that it would be that easy...I just like doing custom work. It all started when I got 3 DD bait heads from ebay. They were really in need of TLC so I did all this sanding and carving and gave them face ups and eyes. I should post them on the forum sometime.

Well I don't really know any real lesbians (now). The only lesbian I knew was my girlfriend from when I was 7 years old. She wasn't really butch; I get what you mean. Then again she was 7 so I don't know if it's different now. I recall we were both just girls. No one was the "guy"...but she had shorter hair so she once said it was assumed she was the guy...? O_OU

I really don't like the large busts on the dolls. I had a doll with the large bust and it was so hard to get the clothes to fit right....

Aw, they are really cute. I like the creative face ups.

That's the problem-if I am saving money on the obitsu, then why bother if I have to buy replacement parts anyway? So now I have to think about that too lol

The 50 cm obitsu wears 1/4 BJD MSD size tops well. I have two hoodies that fit very well. However I bought some jeans and they were too tight.

I'm not really sure at this point because I'm also afraid it will just sit on the shelf after I play with it for a while like all my dolls eventually do. Then I have to justify why I spent all this money on it.... -_-U Maybe I should actually take up doll photography....

The fun part is really the customizing and modding in my opinion. It is kind of like I worked on an art project...otherwise I just buy a doll, play with the doll for a while, then lose interest and put it on the shelf. ._.

Thank you! 🥰

You don't necessarily need to buy replacement parts, I'm just saying that they are there if anything were to break. I don't feel that the current gen 50cm bodies are any more likely to break than a DDIII series body. I can't comment on a comparison to the new F3 frame though because I feel it hasn't yet been around long enough to know for sure if it's more durable.

That's way too much of a markup. You should be able to get one used off Mandarake for $250 - $300, but you would need to search their site daily.

I'm working with a proxy on a Dream Choice girl. I'll ask her if she has any way of getting a base boy body, and if she thinks it's doable I'll send you the contact info.

Maybe you're right as I had the obitsu for longer and posed it more. I felt the DD body was more sturdy, but a bit more stiff.

DCH-10 with M02 Make-Up, but on a DDS body instead of MDD.

Is 50cm Obitsu chest and torso on DDP body a viable hybrid? Anyone know how to make this?

I wasn't able to take Kyoko apart, her head has one of those hard vinyl caps and I am pretty sure to take her head off I have to remove a screw inside.

I did do some measurements with a caliper and I don't think the upper torso will fit well. The bottom of it has the same dimensions, but the top is narrower than DDP, so the arm holes would likely get deformed by the DDP upper frame, and the arms might not go all the way in as a result.

With the DDP bust off and no frame inside, the Obitsu arms did fit nicely in the DDP arm sockets. The holes for the arm pegs are larger on DDP, so the Obitsu bust would need some work done to enlarge the holes.

Grab the forearms for the 45cm Parabox if you can. I've done a hybrid arm where the upper is from the 50cm and lower from an Azone 45cm, and this combination makes MDD long sleeves fit relatively well without looking noticeably off.

The catch, and a major one is that all the hand joints will be too long for this combination if you don't already have a 45cm set in hand.

Interesting, thanks for the info. If I decide to make a change then I will still probably go ahead with the mod though, since although Obitsu parts are relatively inexpensive the mod is free other than my time. 😋

Oh ok. I already sent her order details for an invoice.  I may end up buying the whole doll and reselling the head.
