Obitsu GGR (New Generation 1/3 Body)

Akiko's delay is unfortunate but I really hope to see owner photos of her soon! I'd really like to eventually order an Akiko with a smaller bust. She's so cute and the body looks fantastic. I'd love to add her to my (very small lol) 1/3 vinyl doll collection. Right now I just have my Dollfie DDS Karin and I am hoping in the not-distant future to have one of the Smartdoll pear girls. 

In the first instance, I mostly want the new frame parts to come available. Since they're supposed to be compatible with the old frame, that means all my girls will get upgraded hips and shoulders.

I was looking on 1999 / Hobby Search at the Obitsu parts section when another member asked about it. And it looks like the outer skin parts are on fire sale for 55% off. Some are gone. The frame parts aren't on sale.

I don't think they're discontinuing, but that's unexpected.

The old 48 cm bodies in whitey have been discounted by 36% on 1999 now, the new price is 16,800 yen.

Has anyone heard news of the released? Since to push back to mid Nov there was like no further news of her release date and... Its mid nov already...

Looks like they'll begin shipping sequentially next week!

People are already starting to receive theirs in Japan. Frame maker Asachanchi made some posts on Twitter here and here.

Did they outsource the vinyl production to overseas, or is it limited to things like the wig and clothes? I thought one of the things that Obitsu (and Volks) prided on was keeping all of the vinyl production domestic.

My understanding is that the vinyl is produced domestically in Japan (although some of the staff that produces the vinyl is not Japanese iirc). @XOHimitsuOX would know more about that since he actually visited their factory.

The notice says “some parts produced at the factory in China”, which probably refers to the wig and/or clothes, like you said.

Do we know if they’re going to start selling the bodies individually now that the full dolls are being sent out?

My Akiho did arrive today. I didn't have time to take many photos but I did notice that the updated hand mobility is not there. She still cannot move her hands up and down, only side to side. She looks ok with ddp/mdd bodies and smaller headed DD like 14, but I think she is not quite in scale with DD like I hoped either. She would probably look great with a 50-04, they have the same in between head size.

She is very cute though and the sculpting on the new body is nice.

Got mine too. She is cute but the tone of the joints and skin seem a bit off with the vinyl looking a bit pink.

But the body is much nicer than the original and i feel its closer to AZO2. 

Seems like there is a possible defect... Looking at her feet i noticed the vinyl seems dented. Anyone else with this problem?

Possibly a bit of heat lile a hairdryer will iron out that dent?

Not going to help because the ankle will "eat" in again as i move it... Looks like the upgraded part with a higher arch causes this to happen...

The vinyl at the end of the shin is super thin and weak. It gets cut and notched at the slightest pressure when the feet are angled upward. I used a sharp hobby blade to trim the notches down. I don't think there's much you can do other than not flexing the ankle upward.

Is the foot joint for the GGR compatible with the old Obitsu frame?

I have not taken mine out because there is no screw... I got no clue how to dismantle it yet...

But from the looks of the posted pictures, its the same ball joint and the same connector towards the knee.
The change in the feet is to allow it to move slighting angled right and left which the original can't do and the old format breaks the ring constantly.

Until the parts are released, I would probably not experiment too much...

Now its to see if the other companies (Azone, Parabox, AP) using the same internal frame will follow suit.

For people who want bust options, dddy busts fit, and DD busts fit if you cut the excess vinyl off under the boobs. You'll also need to shorten the neck a little so that the neck mechanism will reach. 

If you're using akihos head, the neck will likely be too wide for her, but it's a decent option if you're hybriding a DD head .

Here's a DD sws bust with a quick chop , with a modded ddh03 head (shrunk with acetone).
