Hi! I’m Phos and I’ve been here for a few weeks but I totally forgot to make an introduction post. I’m 18, they/them, and I am slowly trying to build a flesh dollfie from used parts!  
I’ve loved vynl dolls forever, but they’ve always been out of my reach and I’ve been too scared to spend my money when I didn’t desperately need to. This type of hobby is daunting to a cheapskate like me, but i’m excited to finally bring myself to get into it! ^-^ It is very rewarding. Even my broken DD body is fun to hold and look at. 

I also love drawing, importing “junk” figures from Japan to fix and sell them, and cosplay!

Good luck putting that doll together! There are always spare parts for sale on Mandarake from what I've seen. Sometimes there are cheaper bodies up there too! If you are in the US, the JPY is low compared to USD so the dolls are cheaper right now (depending on your currency).

I have a couple franken-dolls myself. My first MDD is held together literally with superglue and masking tape. She has the cutest outfit to hide her masking tape knees though so she's really cute!!

Its helpful to know about your franken-dolls! Thanks so much for the mandrake tip too. I’m always on Yahoo Japan but there seems to be less damaged parts for DD over there then there are of other items!

I discovered Dollfie and later Smartdoll around 2015. It took me four years to actual order my first BJD. 
And I bet there are a lot of people that hold of from ordering the first one due to the price. And buying the first one after a long year.

Welcome to this place. There is a weekly Zoom meet up which is really cool.

I bought my first Dollfie in 2020. I wanted a Miku doll but ended up buying DDdy Towa then acquiring Miku hair so now she kind of looks like thicc Miku.

Before that I collected a few figures when I went to Japan in 07-10 and feel so priviliged to have actually gone to the physical Mandarake stores.

I only have new Dollfies but Facebook Groups seem a good place to pick up unwanted Dollfies and parts.

Also if you want lower cost dolls then I really love the Azone Pureneemos. They're smaller but are generally much more poseable and they stand up better too.

Towa Hatsune from when I was a noob Dollfie owner...

I just bought a Dollfie from a private seller online... it will be interesting to see how it turns out. I've also hopefully acquired a genuine Snow Miku wig which will be awesome for winter photoshoots.
