Pitatto Wig alternative

Hi,

I recently got my 2nd MDD and am very excited to unbox them! However, I had an issue with my first MDD which was that the wig was difficult to keep on, and so I used a piece of double sided tape which worked relatively well.

This time I was thinking of using a velcro strip like below: 

Would this work in place of a Pitatto wig? Is the velcro too "spiky"? Ordering a pitatto wig from either the US or Japan would be quite expensive, so I am hoping this is a good alternative.

Have you tried using a wig cap to close the gap a bit?

I don’t know if this would work or even if it would be a good idea if you want to keep the doll’s head pristine—I’ve seen listings for used dolls with residue/marks from the Pitatto Wig and it doesn’t look good—but aesthetics aside, I’m curious why it’s not cost effective to buy from Volks since they’re only 220 yen. Is it the shipping?

I personally think the Pitatto Ring is a better choice since it’s not as likely to leave marks, but it is slightly more expensive.

I also find that the Pitatto Ring or any company's silicon cap is much easier to use than the Pitatto Wig. I tried the Potatto wig early on, and not only does it leave sticky residue but it also makes getting the wig situated in the right spot difficult to begin with. Silicon caps give you some grip but still leave the ability to make slight adjustments in the position.

Yes, it is the shipping unfortunately. This is a general issue which makes buying small things from Volks quite pricey.

Ah, silicon caps might be a good idea! I've seen wig caps, but these are made from coloured fabrics which run the risk of staining, or perhaps I am just being paranoid.

For my resin dolls I use a thick rubber band. I bought a 100 bulk rubber band package on Amazon. I just recently learned about Pitatto Rings and I'm interested in trying one out.

I'm sorry to double post, but it looks like Volks USA just updated there shipping options. They have First Class available now under $10 depending on your order. Last week I tried to order something small and the shipping was $30.00. So maybe you can order now and not have to pay a lot for shipping for a small item.
