Can Mochi Ashi Hands Fit MDD?

Recommended Posts

usagisea

Hello! Recently I bought a lot of DD parts from Japan. There was some stuff I wasn’t going to use so I decided to sell them, including MDD hands. I sold it but it turns out the person who got them had a Mochi-Ashi and not a MDD so they say they don’t fit:(

Do MDD and Mochi-Ashi have the same frame? From what I can tell I would just advise them to heat up the vinyl, but maybe they don’t have the same frame and I was misguided!

Thank you <3

Mochi-Ashi is an MDD upper body / lower torso, with Mochi-Ashi legs and feet. The hands for both bodies are the same. The same will be true for busts.

Depending on how the vinyl is trimmed on the hands, the fit can be super tight.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

While they should have the same frame, the base bodies come with different hands. The normal body comes with normal-sized hands and the Mochi-Ashi body comes with large version hands.

It looks like Volks doesn't sell large version MDD hands separately. This chart is a bit confusing because it doesn't actually give compatibility in the MDD to MDD Mochi-Ashi section, but it does say if any of the parts change "it's a little cute." The hand sale page for MDD sizes doesn't list Mochi-Ashi, but neither does Mochi-Ashi have its own separate search option in the store.

I guess I would be curious why the buyer says it won't fit? Does it just look wrong or is it not fitting the wrist? Or are they assuming regular size aren't right because the doll came with large hands?

The MDD Mochi-Ashi body page does says arms and torso are the same between MDD and MDD Mochi-Ashi, so the hands should fit the peg.

They do, they’re listed under デカハンド but the selection is not as good online as it is at Dollpoint.

I’ve heard of this issue before, where normal hands won’t fit over the wrist pegs that come with a Mochi-Ashi body. From everything I’ve read, the pegs should be the same so I’m not sure why this happens.

I see, I failed to notice Hands Large Version was its own filter.

The large hands don't call out Mochi-Ashi as a fit either, so I'd still be inclined to say MDD hands should fit. They do call out DDP, which the regular ones don't.

Large DD hands are easier to put on the DD hand pegs too, so maybe it's just a case of the larger hand has a larger opening at the base.

I’m super sorry I didn’t see your response, but thank you so much for all the help! 😄

They were able to get it on with some heat from a hairdryer. It’s a good lesson to learn though!

Hand type can play a role too. The Volks peace sign hands always seem to have a really small opening, to the point that I split the vinyl on one pair getting them on.

Just thinking out loud here, but I’ve found the hands (for DD and DDS at least, not sure about MDD) are pretty finicky about fitting onto the wrist joint depending on the side.

The wrist joint itself has a curved side and a flat side, and everything seems to go better if you fit the curved side into the palm. Doesn’t seem to go so well the other way.

A little confused here with the sizing, as I plan to get a mochi-ashi and all available hand options!
So, does regular MDD hands FIT or no? And does the large MDD version not fit, or is that what should be going onto MDD Mochi-Ashi?

I wanna make sure before buying! :,)

From a technical standpoint all MDD hands - both regular and deka (large) hands - fit on all MDDs - both standard MDD and Mochi Ashi.

Mochi Ashi MDDs come default with the deka (large) hands as that aesthetically seems to match better with their thicker thighs and larger feet. Which size you want to get for your MDD, is completely up to what you think would look better.

Only the regular DD sized hands and their deka (large) counterparts will not fit any MDD.
