A DD in AG's clothing

I was finally got around to borrowing a wig and some clothes that SK had made for our American Girl dolls so that Yuriko could show off how bad our lighting is and how much worse it gets when a color-blind person tries to correct it in Photoshop.

The clothes are a bit big for her, so I had to pin them down in back, and the wig is attached by a headband, it came with an Irish dance outfit. Still, we both had a lot of fun.

I used to love American Girls when I was around 6 or 7, perhaps 8, so I still have a lot of their clothing, along with the dolls themselfs.

 

I found this nightgown and tried it on Suzie, and low and behold it was a perfect fit.

I also found a bathrobe that I have yet to try. Perhaps I will get to it later.

The first one is my favorite by far, but this one just cracks me up because she looks like such a porker... It will be fun to see what other AG clothes will work on her, even though it will take a liberal amount of pinning!

It's cool that American Girl stuff makes good clothing bait! I'm sure it takes quite a bit of adjusting to make them fit well, but sometimes it's nice to have a base to use instead of having to make everything from scratch.

 

I know you say that's a temp wig, but maybe you should hang onto it through June--it would be perfect for her to cosplay as the female lead in Pixar's upcoming Brave!

I like using American Girl items as well, I had a lot of things left over from when I was really into them years ago. The cat, Licorice is my Azumi's favorite companion. I've also found that some other 18'' doll clothing fits DDs pretty well.

It is funny, how the really loose clothes seem to add on the pounds. I'm also curious how some of the other outfits you made will work.

We have a few of the items that I'd love to dig out to use as props, my favorite being the waffle iron. SK was quite upset when they discontinued making Licorice, the newer cats just aren't the same.

She is quite beautiful in that wig and eyes even without a faceup. Maybe she seems very sweet because of her cute poses.

Thank you. I know I really haven't been in a hurry at all to get her faceup done. When I do get around to it, it will be pretty subtle. She does need eyebrows, at least, though and probably just a touch of faint pink on her lips.

I want omg! I used to be an Irish Dancer so I was so surprised when I saw that up on your doll! And the curly Irish wig is FANTASTIC!!!! Sorry for the caps, but literally freaked when I saw your pictures!!!!!!

I know what you mean. Leeke did do a nice carrot red, but it was a season limited color. I know popular ones they'll eventually rotate back in in future seasons, but I don't know how long it takes.

There will be new Leeke limited edition colors this spring, but they just did an orange and a red like Poofiemus said so chances are there won't be one coming out for the next round.

Thank you very much for the link. Definitely some there I'm interested in. I love the hair she has now, but since it is just a headband with hair attached it doesn't stay on well, at all. There are a couple on the Jpopdolls site that look really close, though, and the prices look reasonable.

I was really afraid that with her being a fashion diva that she would have the attitude to match, but she has been very sweet. Perhaps she realized that I'm the one in control of the sewing machine?

 

When I was playing with some of my fabrics yesterday I wrapped a handkerchief around her waist like a wrap over a swimming suit and took a picture. I told raven that she looked like she was 'putting her sass on.' It really struck me funny seeing her with such an attitude because it's the first time I had seen it.

It was part of the Irish Dance Costume from American Girl in 2007 and has since been discontinued. I think it was only out for a year or so, but the hair definitely looks better on the DD then the AGs! scroll down this page if you want to see it (the pic will be on the right.)
