My yor is currently en route in Bankok of all places ... odd direction since typically after a stop in hong kong its germany... but who knows.

Oddly enough she shipped on friday so a day early ... typical that the one I have some reservations about makes a hustle for the border.. heh.

My last DHL order went via Bangkok. Usually they go via Hong Kong and then to Bahrain or Germany.

My Yor is still cosplaying as Tamaki. I'm scared to put her in her default outfit in case it stains her. And we also need to talk about the expensive cozy outfit having a really bad wig. I've almost bid for a couple on Buyee but it seems that wig is really prone to coming apart. Also that cozy sweater is likely to attract the attention of moths... they're a problem here even with 5 pet praying mantises 😆.

Hopefully a 3rd party will start making some decent looking Yor wigs.

Anyway, I don't regret getting Yor because semi-white rocks and it's also really cool to have two Dynamites.

well, will have to see about that, because of my findings so far. But I guess I'll find out tomorrow, since she (and outfit) might be ready for pickup at the local DHL service point in the afternoon.

Yor arrived here today! Be warned the inside of the wig is black so she'll need a wig cap. Most of the outfit is lined thankfully! Anyway she looks beautiful! Now hopefully I can get Anya...

I'll be curious what you think of her in person. I think she's beautiful, but admittedly I'm not as invested in Spy x Family as I am in shows like Konosuba, so I'm probably more forgiving of the differences between Yor and DDDy Yor. 

If they did Aqua and Darkness I'd want them to be spot on.

well, considering I carved a staff out of wood for a megumin custom, id say im more invested in konosuba than spy x family also.

its just one of those weird situations of once you've caught on to a certain detail, you immediately just focus on it. double the annoyance that I only caught on to it after paying, and then also being on the hook for the additional 200 euros in customs fee's for both doll and outfit, heh.

Well Yor is here, and after the box in a box in a box thing ... taking note of things ... noticing even more things, I decided to take out some feelings on the accessories package.

Like I did with Luka's microphone and trumpet valve details I thought these could use with some accents, and gave them a quick wash with some black tamiya panel line fluid:

no before photo of the headband rose detail, but the handle of the other ice pick (or stiletto (Stylet...?), as they apprently are...) shows the base gold paint state.

Its not a significant change, but it does give the items a little more pop, especially the added dark lines in the rose.

But thought Id share this if someone else also felt they needed something extra.

.. but arrival photos will come at some point .. maybe the weekend.

I definitely don’t like the plastic look of these things.

Tamiya has a video on the stuff I use actually which explains the basics:

Though in this they get a bit messy and use thinner to clean up, but I just wipe it while its still wet.

You can make your own, for instance Adam Savage's tested youtube channel has some modelbuilding episodes where they go through the color wash process, but this stuff is great for smaller pieces since its ready to go stuff in a bottle and applicator.

I havent used any top coat, since its in the crevases so it shouldnt (in theory) end up as a transfer after its dried, but, as anything, use at your own risk.

as a side note, Gundam panel markers are also a thing, which I used with Luka's details before I got this.

Also playing around with my cheap RGB light sources i managed to put together.

So far the expierience hasnt been great. the dress has a minor but annoying issue ... the wig is ready to explode at the back (The little note that came with it stating its origin isnt helping the sensation, and smelling like hair-gel for obvious reasons) ... and the braid is too big for the headband and it keeps flopping elsewhere than it should be.

Still contemplating the full kit and optional set (need to debut my scale moomin mugs somehow...), but again.. still a day left of the work week.

You mean the braid flops, or the headband flops? 

Mine doesn't have an issue with the braid flopping about, but I haven't opened the wig that came with the alt so idk about consistency. The headband I haven't really tried to match with the anime, so I don't know if the positioning is the same as what you're trying. The photo I have of her in the red dress shows how I put it on her, and I haven't had any issues with movement.

the braid that runs across the back seems to be a bit too chunky where they start around the ears, so the headband doesent want to seat properly over it, at least in the way the instructions say.

If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, could you pleas post a photo of the instructions. My Yor box is down in a storage locker, so I can’t easily get them. I want to try it the way they show it and see if it has issues.

Its actually just the same reference photo thats on Yor's product page so nothing special in that sense, apart from the one photo about the longer spikes going forward

but showing that the rose should sit around the start of the braid above the ear.

not sure if the protective head-cap is adding to the problem since according to the reference picture the braid should go over the ear a bit.

After some effort I did get the headband to stay put somewath, but it doesent need much for it to eject.

the wig might not be seated enough at the back, but I just dont like pulling on it too much because of a reason shown later.

It feels like the left side braid has been started higher than the right side ...

but then there's also the thing with the rear:

Its like they forgot to glue the ends of the back hair underneath the braids and their all popping out just by putting the wig on the head.

though I can use a pointy tip to slide the strays back into place, but overall im just properly annoyed, and my fingers smell like hair gel again.

the optional outfit wig is ... its own thing and not quite tucked in at the back as the default one.

And it just dawned on me, you mean the plastic one and not the cloth one. I've had no issues with the cloth headband, but mine hasn't really worn the other one.

mmm, considering its even got the rubber band bit to keep it taut, if it didnt stay in place then you'd really have issues with the wig ...

that being said ... I decided to put a knife to my default wig, more or less literally, after the braids also started to fray out for no good reason.

But just to share the knowledge learned:

On the default wig the back hair that tucks underneath the braids is actually sown against the wig cap at the edge, cut to lenght, and then the braids stiched over the edge. as such the hair at the back will be prone to be pulled from their stitching and getting them back nicely will be a thing. So do take care when putting the wig on. and off

Which is actually a bit annoying since the instructions suggest you put the front of the wig on first, and then pull the back over the head, which will cause the hairs to pull out from the stitches as probably happened with me.

whatever you do: DO NOT pull on the braids, they seem to be held on with only a few stitches that only hang on to only a few of the hairs in the braid.

edit: Also trying to put it on by inverting it will most likely hurt it ... which may or may not have been what happened to mine.

oh well.. time to dig up a plan B I guess... since incidently there is a dark haired side banged short bob lurking somewhere in storage now, although its owner is of a explosive nature.

That's weird that they would tell people to put a styled wig on front first and then pull the styled back part down. That's the opposite of what they said about the Saber wigs, where it was recommended to put the back in place and then pull the bangs forward. The latter is how I always put on styled wigs since many of them have loose bangs but the back is the delicate part.

mm, I dont know did they recycle the current general wig fitting guide from the concept note booklet, because it seems like the same photoset but with just Yor as a model. although with a note about the braids in a red box about not touching them.

also the ammount of hairgel used makes me wonder about dust accumulation.

now just to 3D print a fake head-cap and see if there is anything to be done, and just go with megumin's default for the possible intro photos.

One of my friends finally fell into the doll world when I showed him the oficiel release of Yor (he loves spy x family). So, he asked me to try to get her.

It was hard because i lost in the japanese click war and honestly, he and I thought all chances were lost. That it would be impossible to find another chance to get her.

And then volks USA announced a lottery so I tried luck there as well. And guess what, we won! 

We were pretty excited. The unboxing lasted for 2 to 3 hours. Unfortunately we took some quick photos since we had other things to do after that. Here are some: His gorgeous Yor along with my baby Alna.

 

 

I loved Yor eyes! Maybe you cannot appreciate it in the photo but I think the color and bright make her look quite vivacious!

He also got the red oufit so I will update with more photos soon.

I got the second outfit first and I'm still waiting for Yor, even though they were shipped the same day....

Another gathering with my friend. This time with Yor wearing her red outfit!! I swear I'm gonna try to get this outfit for my girls. It's beautiful.

New camera, new fabulous book of background wallpapers and Yoru has a new outfit and wig.

I wasn't sure this combo was going to work on her, but I'm delighted how she turned out.

I really like Yoru. She's kind of got a not-quite-Towa vibe.

Thanks - I really like this look and I'm definitely going to look for another of these outfits and maybe the wig too. We also have the pink one but it's a smaller fit.

On the subject of dressing up, Yoru's sister Towa is now Sakura Towa. She looks kind of OK so a Sakura Yor Forger could also work. I'll take a photo of her soon.
