Help me choose a Head? DDP edition

Here's how a DDH-07 looks on DDP.  I stuck the recent Volks fox ears and tail set on her, too.  I guess it works?  I think the right face-up and wig would go a long way.  The neck looks a little small for the head, though.  

 

For fun, here's Kudo (originally an MDD, mine is DDP now) on my DDH-07's (Flare is her name) DDdy body...

Anyway, I just thought seeing a DDH-07 on a DDP would help this discussion.  Whatever you decide, I'm looking forward to seeing your Holo!

It's one of their older heads, so a lot of the official faceups are a bit wonky and don't show its character well, but the blank sculpt itself is solid and it's still around! It's also available in whitey, which will match an Obitsu 47 body if you wanted to go that route. And since Obitsu makes all the vinyl for Angel Philia, this head will fit on an Obitsu body just fine, giving you that nice DDP size and scale. You'll have to use a proxy to get a blank head directly from Quarantotto, but it's fairly cheap to do despite AP's usual price point.

Oooooohhhh! Angel Philia type G looks awesome! I do think it would work for Holo (that's a stellar favorite!) - if it weren't tan? I can't seem to find a lighter skin color though other than whitey which might be too white? I know Angel Philia has a "normal" color... is it not always used? Otherwise, type G on a 50cm Obitsu body sounds like it would work great. 

Also. Thank you so much for pointing me toward Quarantotto!!! I've been trying to find this site ever since I learned of the Angel Philia dolls (or any site that had all their products) and I kept hitting a wall each time.

And my stuff seems to go un-noticed for the most part ... at least that photoset performed below average on flickr and mfc, so no worries I guess.

The big thing to consider is that holo (to me) is athletic slender. So its not really a matter of boobs or butts (the nude's ayakura has done she barely has breasts), but overall body proportions. as like beyondtime mentioned a DDS in either medium or small would be quite perfect in the volks lineup, and my sakura shinguji as a S-bust DD is quite fitting, but thats just my oppinion.

!!!!!!! I've seen their Holo before!!! Thank you for pointing me in their direction. I can't wait to read the doujins~ (and thanks for the warning too XD). Also - you've completely succeded at capturing their Holo. O.O Kawakkamis Holo is a little softer, I think. And the Shinguji Aakura head is perfect at capturing that. I don't know how I missed it on my initial search on MFC - I didn't realize you had an account? I'll find it tho! Just you wait!!! 

I do think a smaller bust would definitely work best. Just maybe not with the super petit DDP - hence the potential padding to make it an M bust instead of S. Granted, I do think Holo-tan would be a good addition to my references. I'm just not really looking to pursue the Harmonia Humming style so it's a little trickier to figure out, I think.

Oh wow. That's amazing. And looks really promising for the DDH-07 and DDH-09 (I think both fit Holo). I do think it's also a little terrifying to think of - specially considering this would be my first doll/head. Idk what I would do if I ruined it immediately after I got it... O.o

Tho I do think it looks better than having the Kudo head on the DDdy body O.o I've been considering the DDH-14 and DDH-09 more recently since they seem to lean smaller than the 07. Granted - Idk how I would go about getting my hands on a 14 if I'm being honest... ^^".

If I may add my two cents, I really would not recommend putting more mature heads on DDP/MDD bodies. I tried to do something similar to what you were initially planning by putting DD Mash’s head on an MDD body, and even though she has a very youthful face, it just does not work. The head is just too big for the body, making her look bobble-headed and disproportionate.

@Tierparkzone put his Mash on the slightly more mature DDP for me and she still looked odd. The necks on the DDP/MDD bodies are too thin for the adult heads, so they don’t just look big—they actually are too large because there is a conspicuous gap between the neck and the head.

If you know this and are okay with it, go for it, but there’s a good chance that you won’t like the result.

Actually, whitey is a perfect match for DD's "Flesh" tone! I've made a ton of hybrids mixing Obitsu and DD vinyl and they're nearly identical in color, it's great. Super Whitey would definitely be too white, but regular whitey should work just fine. Here she is on the site, looks like she's still in stock! You'll have to use a proxy like Buyee or Zenmarket, but they're pretty easy to use. I had no trouble with Zenmarket when I got my G head for my Hanji when I was finishing up a shrine of my own. Best of luck with whatever you go with!

Azone just revealed a new Iris Collect Rino and it reminded me of this thread. Not sure if she’s to your liking, but I personally think she could be made into a decent Holo. They are about the same height as DDP (50cm) but with a more mature build. Their heads are smaller than DDs so the scale works well. I think the default wig could even work (although it seems to have pinkish streaks) but if not you could probably find a decent substitute (I believe iriscollect take 7-8 or 8 inch wigs)

I didn’t think they sold them separate for the Azo2 body though, although one of the resident big Azone experts would know more than me (I focus on the lil ones…)

As far as I know their option busts are interchangeable between AZ02 and Azone50. I've never tried swapping Mami and Kyoko's bust, but the waist and shoulder dimensions seem to be the same. The length differs, but that might be because I'm comparing S and L busts.

If you are considering an obitsu doll, maybe Manatsu (or her head sculpt 50-07)? I feel like her face might suit the character!

That's what I keep noticing warning-wise. The small bodies don't seem to work with the bigger heads. And vice versa. Which makes sense. Holo really probably should be a DDS at least... I just don't know how that'll work beside my 1/7, 1/6 figures. I could get the 1/4th figure to serve as intermediary - but she's the reason I wanted to make this doll to begin with XD. 

When I realized 007 was too big, I figured 006 might work but others were right in saying the head doesn't look right. I know others have used the 009 on the DDP before. But that's probably still too big ^^" I did decide to try it. Worst case scenario I sell it, right? But the Obitsu dolls seem like the right thread to follow at the moment. I have a bigger DD planned for the future either way. (And I said I would only get one doll huh)

Ooooohhh. Thanks for the push in the right direction!! I swear, the site makes whitey look like pure white skin. O.o Apparently the Iris Collect dolls are the same from what I hear. But the DD site makes "flesh" look way darker geez. 

Hanji???? Attack on Titan Hanji??? Oooooff! Top 3 character in my opinion. Have you posted them here yet? I'd love to see it/your shrine!!! (I'll admit, for a sec there I thought you meant Hagi from Blood+ and my heart almost stopped) XD

Oooooohhh! I do like the look of this. I could probably use her skirt too if I dye it to be a little darker/muted. The default wig does look maybe a bit too bright. I wonder if they can be dyed like synthetic cosplay wigs??? Thanks for the rec tho! Maybe I'll stoke out Amiami to see if I can snag a pre-order.

Oh geez. And that hair color is arguably perfect. I think maybe the eyes lean a little round as far as the face but I'd argue there is no such thing as a perfect head. ^^" She doesn't seem to be currently available from Mandarake but I'll keep an eye out. It'll probs depend on the aftermarket prize for her, yeah?

It's hard to tell thanks to the black shelf they're sitting on and the photo angle, but the wig does have their trademark ponytail. A huge pain to find, for sure.

I was gonna buy a blank head for my Dollfie but I am not an artist so I'm scared to try and attempt to paint the head. Do any of you know anyone who does custom head painting for Dollfies?

Shines Workshop and Mitsuki Hanato (both on instagram) do very nice Dollfie faceup commissions, though I don't know if they're both open right now

In the end went with a Candy head and replaced the eyes with akane eyes.
