Chiakisenpai Posted December 13, 2022 I received my first resin doll yesterday, gorgeous Anna from the Volks SD Disney collection. Absolutely stunning in every way! But now I’m so nervous to pose her and take her out for photos:( I am only familiar with Dollfie dream and all of the new things that come with resin are so foreign to me (like restringing a doll? How often would you have to do that? I am absolutely clueless! Haha) So if anyone could help me by giving me some tips and advice or good YouTube videos about how to care for a resin doll, or anything you have learned personally it will be such a great help! some questions I have: -Do I remove the eyes the same way as with a Volks doll? -When will I know I need to restring a doll, and how often does it need to be done? -Do resin dolls stain like DD? Do I need a bodysuit? -Can I travel with a resin doll and a Dollfie dream in the same travel bag or will the resin ruin the vinyl? -How fragile are resin dolls? I want to be sure I take the best care of Anna!
la_ Posted December 13, 2022 Congrats on Anna, she's adorable! 1) The eyes on SDs come out the same way they do on DDs. You can use the same eyes, same eye putty, etc. 2) When you feel the elastic is no longer able to hold poses well, or you see the doll flopping over on its stand. People usually say you should restring once a year, but I usually go by feel. No point wasting elastic if the current one is still doing its job. I'd say just buy the supplies in advance so you can restring her right away once she starts getting floppy. 3) Staining on resin is rarer than on vinyl, and it's usually just surface-level and can be wiped off if there's no body blushing. Worst case scenario, it can be rubbed off with a magic eraser. If there's body blushing, cleaning the doll will probably remove the blushing so clean at your own risk. 4) Not sure, will let someone else answer that. 5) They can crack if they fall. Resin is much more fragile than vinyl. I've heard of noses, fingers, toes, etc. breaking off after falls, but sometimes they fall without any damage. Handle with more care than you would a vinyl and use a sturdier stand (ex. waist clamp) so it won't get damaged if the elastic tension gives out while it's standing still on a shelf. The faceups are also more likely to rub off, so you have to be more vigilant about not touching the face when adjusting eyes, wigs, etc. 1 https://dolldb.com/ Doll Sizing | Pattern Index
Xiongmao Posted December 13, 2022 I entered two SD lotteries but didn't win either. So I decided to stick with my vinyl girls. I've heard resin dolls are more sensitive to UV than are vinyl dolls, so keep them somewhere out of direct sun. I have a similar issue with my Lego. My Dollfie doll family 😊.
