Kagamine Rin/Len Reboot!

Does anyone have experience with the error: "Transaction cannot be made with this card" upon checking out? I was thankfully able to pay for Rin, but when I try paying for the Kagamine carrying case with the same card, I get this message as well as on two other Visa cards I've tried. I double checked and their website FAQ confirms they accept Visa, and the money for Rin has been deducted from the bank so I know it worked.

I sent a message to Volks for assistance, but the weekend just started so I won't hear back before Monday. Any advice or experience with their customer service would be appreciated as I'm probably going to worry all weekend about this. I'm a little terrified they'll cancel one or both my orders? I sent a message in English and included a Google Translated version, though I have no idea how well they work with overseas buyers and which language they'll respond in. :')

It could be your card. My Visa was frozen when I tried making two purchases from the same site on the same day because it was flagged as ‘suspicious activity’.

Update: I don't know what changed after trying for several days, my purchase went through today. HUGE relief, I've been hoping to get Rin for several years and I'm so excited for this release. Now to make shelf space....

Going to be careful with future purchases and try to avoid checking out twice in one day on the same card from now on!

Shipment starts around Oct 28th Japan Time. 

Rin, Len and a couple of carrying bags are all paid for.

I thought the exchange rate had crashed when I paid for Len a couple of days after Rin, but then I realised Len costs a bit more than Rin. I don't know if this was discussed previously in the thread.

Anyway I look forward to their arrival. The carry bags will be useful as the Miku one is too precious to take outdoors, and I'm less fussed about the Kagamine ones as they're not nearly so awesome.

I'm pretty sure I'll dress up Rin and Len as themselves.

Len costs more because of the keytar. Any doll with large plastic parts, armour etc always goes up in price due to the extra molding and development.

I’ve always been surprised the keytar didn’t raise the cost more honestly.

. . . I totally forgot about the keytar lol. Oh man. I'm the one turning Len into Venti from Genshin Impact. . . just. Venti with a keytar. This is going to be hilarious. 

Just got an email saying Len-to-be-Venti is shipping! He hasn't been picked up by DHL yet, but his tracking number does exist. 

. . .Sadly there is absolutely no way I'm getting even his cape done before he arrives, much less the rest of his outfit, but at least I've started it and maybe this will give the motivation to keep going, lol. In the meantime he'll probably be stuck doing more of a closet cosplay.

My pair shipped as well, although my Len is to become a girl named Natsuki. 

My pair are stuck in Hong Kong. I don't know how many other Kagamines are with them.

I'm also a little apprehensive as I've seen some pretty awful wigs being unboxed 😒.

Yes, Rin just arrived today, along with her carrying case, and the Snow Miku 2023 outfit.

I’m a bit disheartened to hear about how bad Len’s wig apparently is. It was already pretty famously bad in the original release, but it looks like it’s even worse now? Part of me was hoping they’d improve on it somehow. It doesn’t help that his hairstyle is pretty much impossible to replicate as a typical DD wig but the ones I’ve been seeing around are pretty dire.
I’m not sure what’s been going on with DD wigs lately but a lot of them have been really hit and miss isn a way that makes me wary of future collabs…I definitely wasn’t the only one that complained about Kaito’s. (And yet, Meiko’s is one of the best wigs I’ve ever gotten from them(except for the black cap! 🙃).

There was actually a big difference between the first and second batch of Rin wigs during the original release too (the preorder ones from Dolpa vs the website ones). The webstore ones used a lot more product and looked weird and spiky and wet from the photos I saw, whereas the Dolpa ones (ie what I got)were much fluffier and nicer. In that case though, I think the issue was remedied by washing the excess product out. I’m not sure if there was the same difference with the Len wigs for that release because mine was a lottery one. (Plus I sold his fullset items anyway)

Well I came here to ask what the fk was going on with my Len's wig, but looks like it's not a me problem. My Len's wig should have never passed QC, half the fibers are chopped weird and the other half is like burnt???? Frayed? Melted?? My original Len's wig is fine, my Senbon Len's wig is great. Of course they can't recreate some anime big hair, but the other wigs were perfectly fine. 

 

I know it seems like I only come here to complain now, but seriously. This is why I stopped buying anything from Volks. I'm so sick of the QC control on every resin, DD, outfit, etc and god. The rest of him is pretty and I'm excited to have him, but this wig is a big part of his character and it's a mess. Don't advice because I know how to style a wig, but like half of the fibers on mine are broken and melted. The Snow Miku wig is made out of this same material - it's like that really cheap, dry, easily tangled doll hair you find on toys. Ugh.

My Len arrived yesterday afternoon! I never intended to open his fullset pieces, so I'm not having any disappointment issues thankfully. I've already done the ceremonial removal of the default eyes and I chose his new ones. Now I'm just waiting for him to tell me how his hair should look. 😋

Ok, I finally got around to unboxing Rin and getting her dressed. 

I am officially clueless when it comes to the hair clips.  >_<  I did my best...

I think she just needs wig styling with some wig wax or styling gel. I don’t think you’ve done them wrong, but her hair isn’t styled like the photos. 

I've seen some people say its easier to get her hair clips in by sticking it in between pieces of paper, putting the clips on over the paper, then removing the paper. Haven't been able to test that myself yet though lol

My Rin arrived as well, and fortunately her wig doesn't look deep fried like Len's. I'm trying to see if Angel Toast will be willing to do the faceup for Len too. 

My boy arrived today! 

Pardon the photos, didn't get a chance to unbox him till it was truly dark out.

Haven't messed much with his default, and his custom outfit is nowhere near done yet, so he's in something of a closet cosplay. 

Wig and cecelia flower hair clip are from Ali Express, eyes are from @ateliervanilla. 

Aaand the one part of the default this bard wouldn't let me leave in the box lol. This is just as gloriously hilarious as I had dreamed.

Hold up, is Len supposed to have the number pre printed on his arm or is that just Rin?
